View Full Version : Bad movie that you like.
Exciterx24 10-31-2004, 03:58 PM Is there any movie that is considered to be horrible, but you like it? Mine is The Exorcist II: The Heretic. I like it because it follows the original theme and Linda Blair looks hot. Linda in her prime was as good as a girl gets!

i heard alot of people bad mouthen matrix - revolutions
but i think its mainly becuz most people are stupid dumbasses
they didnt understand what happened
i asked alot of people wwhy they didnt like it
most common answer "i didnt get it" or "not enough story too much fighting and war"
im like wtf?
they expected it to be a standalone sequal
they have to understand that all three movies are suppose to thought of as one giant movie broken up into pieces
the first gave us a taste
second we got more of the story
third we got the final climactic war
neils7147933 10-31-2004, 04:45 PM Here's a few that come to mind:
Sgt. Bilko
The Pest (1997)
Booty Call
Canadian Bacon
neils7147933 10-31-2004, 05:07 PM some more:
The Planet of the Apes sequels (Conquest and Escape From... were pretty good, but I even like the 1981 spinoff series and the movies edited from that show)
it gets worse:
Grease 2
Spice World
Toxic Avenger
Class of nuke 'em high 1&2
showgirls
Cruel Intentions
The World's Greatest Athlete
Freddy got fingered
Billy Madison
50 First Dates
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Beat Street
The Stupids
I'll think of more later: I often give a bad film the benefit of the doubt, especially a dumb comedy that tries really hard
Boxerdog 10-31-2004, 05:16 PM My all-time fave out of those that the critics hated is "From Dusk Till Dawn".....by far the best thing Pretty Boy George ever did IMO.
also liked and rewatch "The Three Amigos" and "Clifford".

See for me, I bad mouth it cuz it was so ****ing cheezy. Like the chinese general and the kid in the war. I mean come the **** on lol.
What made the Matrix work for me was he concept of teh whoel ****. The world inside the Matrix part of it. Not so much as the war struggle. I've seen that **** before. But when I saw neo ducking bulets n the moves in the first, it was fun to watch. The third movie was mostly in the "real" world.

Bombardier 11-01-2004, 08:39 AM Put me down for "From Dusk Till Dawn" as well. Loved that movie at the time...even bought the poster and the screenplay (seriously).
Here's another one that's even worse: Dead Man on Campus. It starred the guy who played Zak from Saved by the Bell (who later turned up on NYPD Blue, I believe).
DamienFromTheAshes 11-01-2004, 05:13 PM Some of these movies above I liked too. Suprised to see them branded as "bad" movies.
Cruel Intentions? Nightmare 3? Not at all bad movies.
From Dusk Til Dawn was called bad? Unbelievable. That movie was very good.
Toxic Avenger was bad, but...I liked it. Toxie 4 is better imo, although bad too.
Cop and a Half
Mannequin 2
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the movie, not the SMG show on WB)
Robocop 1 & 2
Some movies I would call overrated:
Natural Born Killers
The Matrix (all of them, sorry)
have to add more later

I'm sure you're familiar with Rotten Tomatoes, the site that takes critic reviews and compiles them with a "fresh" or "rotten" label based on how many reviewers and how many "top" reviewers liked certain films?
It takes 60% to be considered "fresh." Anything below that is "rotten"
Cruel Intentions is at 41%
Nightmare is fresh at 69% - I think it's the second best of the series.
Buffy was fun, too - but scores a 40%
Dusk Til Dawn fell apart when they entered the vampire bar - it's at 57%
Agree with NBK - it was average at best. I never understood the appeal of the Matrix films. I just watched the first one; for me it would have made an interesting 30 minute Twilight Zone episode, but it was a very dull 2 hour and 30 minute film.
By the way, is the film you're working on feature length? Are you using all amateur actors? Budget?
Just interested...
Exciterx24 11-01-2004, 05:21 PM A couple of "bad" movies that I like and forgot to mention are Nightnare on Elm Street 2 and 976 Evil. Twilight Zone The Movie had a couple of good moments. I loved the third story about the kid with the mental powers.
DamienFromTheAshes 11-01-2004, 05:52 PM Got one good actor in my movie. Everyone else...complete amateurs, but I'm a decent director...so hopefully it'll balance out.
Budget is strictly out of my pocket. Spent $920 on a really good 3 chip camera and some crap with it. Not counting that, I've spent about $100 on everything else thus far. Hope to not spend much more money.
Running time will be around 30 minutes. Definitely not feature length. I don't have time to shoot that. Barely will have time to shoot 30 minutes. Means just a couple takes per scene, which is tough on anybody, let alone new actors.
Then I have to edit, which will be the longest part of the process. Film will be ready by Dec. 1.

I love From Dusk til Dawn and watch it any time it's on and nothing else is ;) . I guess my favorite 'bad' movie would have to be People Under the Stairs. It was pretty bad, but for some reason I like it?!? :o
Dr.Depravity 11-01-2004, 09:23 PM I thought natural born killers was garbage too.

Gene Siskel loved Kingpin. When he died, the Farrelly Brothers put a dedication at the end of "Me Myself and Irene" I think (or something about Mary - whichever their next release was after his death)
I know a lot of people who love it. It didn't really work for me.

If you've forgotten what BASEketball means to America, you have only to look at this board - the Malaka-Laka Balance Board of Trust. Don't you see what we have here? A game where guys with bad backs and bad knees can... get together and compete on the same field as guys that are all goosed up on steroids. But more than anything, isn't this game about gettin' together with your friends and just havin' a good time? I remember. I remember a long time ago, I didn't have anybody. You guys took me in. I guess that's why it kills me to see you like this. If we can't be friends... then the heart and soul are out of this game. Certainly out of me. I know I'll never get that back again. We have sullied the waters of the Lagoon of Peace! I'm begging you, for the love of our Caribbean brothers, dudes, stop this madness!

Derranged 03-05-2007, 08:19 PM It's Pat. This was the he-she skit from Saturday Night Live turned into a movie.
Dr.Depravity 03-05-2007, 09:39 PM That reminds me...A Night At The Roxberry. I liked.
neils7147933 03-05-2007, 09:56 PM Saw another one tonight that I didn't hate. I imagine I'll like it substantially less the next time I watch (if I catch it on TV and stop), but Wild Hogs was entertaining in a sitcom, full theater, watch the slapstick humor and cookie cutter character kind of way. If they could afford the 4 actors for a sitcom version it would be a hit. 38 million dollars in the opening weekend - 6.1 on imdb but only 16% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Regardless, it was likeable enough and my kids even laughed at it. And I saw it at a small-town, one-screen theater a half hour away - 2 adults and 4 kids for 19 bucks admission with cheap concessions too. Not a bad way to spend an evening - although I don't know that I'd recommend the movie to anyone who expects much out of a movie besides one-liners and cartoonish writing...

-Antonio- 03-06-2007, 12:45 PM I dont know if this got bad reviews actually, but I imagine it got destroyed by critics. I just saw Devils Rejects the other day and I liked it. Great soundtrack, some of the most evil characters I have ever seen on film, and a good amount of gore.
And....
