I heard it went down well. I'm not a Jay Z fan, but what he has done has opened doors.

I think its great. Jay-Z said it best, we all need to be more open minded. Every music genre has its good music and bad. I love seeing all different cultures come together rather than hating each other.

Kings of Leon were better.
Jay z was ok but it wasn't anything amazing, just another Jay z concert really.

this is the MP3 of his set, I think some parts are missing.

Personally I thought he did really well and it has opened doors for hip hop. However I can't see who else could headline at Glastonbury in the immediate future, maybe Kanye after a couple more albums.

Definitely... What a band, the only band that have produced anything I can listen to in the last two years.
And they played all my favourite songs. ****ing wish I went now.

Started off with a good song, everyone singing along, then it went down hill from then on. I just don't rate his music.

I don't think it was this amazing, mind blowing performance like some critics are suggesting. He was expected to be ****e and received some criticisms due to the genre obviously so perhaps he genuinely surprised some folks, so it was overhyped?

I would say it was a very good performance overall though. He mixed in a few good bits of rock to bridge some of the genre gap. Overall i thought he did a good job.

Noel was right, by mentioning him (wonderwall) it would make the first five minutes interesting.

Due to my own blissful ignorant state, I'd say 99 problems is the only real Jay Z song I know, and he played it right away. After that it got worse and worse til I turned over.

He could atleast say 99 problems but Noel aint one.

Would have been more lol in my opinion.

And did anyone else mistake that guy singing about his rolex, for Jay Z, I know I did when I turned it on about half past.

noel should look at their own glasto set a few years back and realise it was actually a bag of wank, so in that sense he should shut his mouth

I was very surprised that he got the nod to headline Glasto because Jay-Z is NOT a crossover artist over here in the UK.

Eminem & Kanye West are just about the only rappers I can think of who have crossed over. Their albums regularly appear in the Top 10/20 chart whenever they drop new music, those guys are mainstream.

The type of people are who big fans of Jay in the UK are usually avid hip-hop listeners, who are a minority in comparison to the amount of people who are fans of Indie/Rock/Dance music.

Most of the crowd seemed lost on the songs he was performing because they had never heard of them, let alone rap-a-long to the lyrics. That kinda took away from it for me, the lack of crowd participation on that level.

Still Jigga did his thing, I loved it when he came out with a guitar singing Wonderwall, that was real classy considering Noel's views on him performing there in the first place. :lol1:

I thought he looked like a wanker, he weren't playing guitar, the sogns on acoustic for ****s sake and at least learn the lyrics.

It reminded me of Mayweather who took the mic at the Hatton presser and sang "there's only one mayyyyweather"

good post.

I can only see Kanye headlining after a couple more albums. I think he'd do pretty well, not sure if Eavis will allow another hip hop act to headline in the immediate future.
