Stay away from them. Most sports drinks contain high fructose corn syrup, which next to cigarette smoke is the worst thing you can legally put in your body. Drink water.

You could mix REAL fruit juice with water, something like 1/4 juice 3/4 water would be good. It does have its advantages of restoring electrolytes and if you have a FEW carbs in your drink its actually supposed to rehydrate you better (or something like that, look up sports drinks to be sure). But thats best done during a workout longer than 1 hour.

Dont use juices with pulp to mix, makes a weird ass drink with lil floaties.

gatorade contains alot of salts to replenish those lost while sweating. i find it is great for prolonging workouts, far beter than water

I switch over to Gatorade after my sweat stops tasting salty. Before that I drink water.

I agree, thats why I switch to Gatorade after my sweat stops tasting salty. I would recommend everyone do the same.

I also drink several glasses of WARM water about 30min before I go to the gym.

WARM water is easier to drink fast and I find that your body absorbs it much quicker when it doesn't have to do the warming on its own.

Simple rule of thumb. If your pee is yellow, drink more water.

I also heard somewhere that it's really not good to drink cold water period, especially after a hard workout or being outside in the heat for a long time. Not entirely sure of the reason, though.
