Bafetimbi Gomis awfull first touch
Mario Gomez :must be easy to score goals in Germamy eh
Benzema has not lived upto the hype either
Klose has done nothing
Luca Toni could not hit a barn door
Don Gorgon 06-17-2008, 04:50 PM agree with Gomez, he looked awful yesterday.
thought Benzema looked a prospect, he should have got on against Holland. Anelka looks shot.

Anelka is deffo shot half the player he was no confidence what so ever
what about Bafetimbi Gomis he has a worse first touch than Julio Baptista

I just saw Gomis tonight when they showed a repeat of the Holland game, he looked awful. 2nd touch was a tackle almost everytime.
I think Anelka has piled on the weight since joining Chelsea as well, probably all that sitting on the bench. That penalty miss was a shocker as I recall him taking pens at previous clubs.
Shame Ribery had to come off, thought he might have a good game tonight.
Addition 06-17-2008, 05:12 PM In fairness to Benzema he's only 20 and it's his first appearence in a big tournament, still needs time to improve.

Ribery is a quality player IMO ,i saw him play for France u 21 a few years back against England u 21 and he was the best player on the pitch stood out like a saw thumb
it does look like Anelka has lost a bit of sharpness and confidence and weight could be a big factor i agree
BTW little Modoric looks abosolute class as much as it hurts me to say it LOL ,he reminds me of Rosicky a bit
BETTY SWOLLOCKS 06-17-2008, 05:23 PM Amir Khan.....
LMFAO111!!! OMFG your sooo funny!!:nonono:
****in **** knocker!
TBH the whole France team didnt live up to the hype, looking at their team they look ridiculously talented, but from front to back no one did their job properly the whole tournament.
Spambo boy 06-17-2008, 05:25 PM I think Benzena showed some class, he didn't really have much support and he was running at Italy the whole game.

I remember us being linked with Rosicky for a while when he was at Dortmund, was gutted we didn't get him at the time.
I missed the Germany v Croatia game so haven't had much of a chance to see Modric in action. A lot of peeps seem to be impressed with him, I'll definitely check him out against Turkey.
Quiet_Storm 06-17-2008, 05:41 PM I thought Benzema played well tonight considering the circumstances.
It looks like the end of an era for France, the elder statesman need to hang 'em up for good.
Mozza 06-17-2008, 05:44 PM I don't think three international games at the end of a long domestic season is the best time to judge these guys.
Nicky_Hatton 06-17-2008, 05:45 PM The whole France team springs to mind. I think age crept up on them.

I see your point but how come Villa is playing out of his skin?
Don't think Gomez has played as many games as Cristiano Ronaldo and CR still played well.
Overrated might be a tad harsh but f*ck it! lol!

Because he's been injured this season and hasn't played all season like others which is why he's fresh.

Yes but this is when they should be at their absolute best realistically.
Surely this is why people play football, for the dream they might play for their country one day.

Benzema is only 20 while Gomez and Gomis are only 22 and all three are playing in their first major tournament. Time will tell how good they really are but their performances elsewhere over the last season or two suggest all three are destined for greater things than they are currently experiencing.
Klose and Toni are established strikers with records that speak for themselves.

Realistically the best performance from any player will innevitably come at some point in the middle of the season.
I don't think international tournaments can be considered the pinnacle of football any more - for me it is the Champions League.

Agreed, I was commenting on what I saw which wasn't impressive but I'm rational enough to realise they've got time on their side. Gomis looked horrendous, not sure if it was nerves or if he is just awful. Gomez can still redeem himself as far as Euro 2008 goes, he's not the focal point for the Germans so it's no biggie.
Domenech had a mare with regards to Benzema. Hopefully he'll get the sack.
Rooney_MUFC 06-17-2008, 06:26 PM He aint in Euro, But dont forget Frank Lampard :p

I was just saying the same thing about Domenech to a friend. I've never liked him since I heard a few years ago that he won't pick certain combinations of players because of their star signs. ****ing lunatic.
Don Gorgon 06-17-2008, 06:40 PM I think he was found out, he didn't have a Zidane to drag France through another tournament. Govou??? WTF? I've never been a fan.
Hopefully Deschamps can restore some credibility.
DURAN_IS_GOD 06-18-2008, 05:38 AM Camorenesi is ****ing woeful, quite how he gets in the italian side (first 2 games) i'll never know
This is why Gomis was chosen over Trezeguet.

Bafetimbi Gomis awfull first touchHis first touch is normally a goal. I don't think you can blame the strikers...well maybe Gomez.

Don Gorgon 06-18-2008, 06:15 AM he looks ok in Ligue 1. looked absolute pony in the Euro's though mate. Don't think he's any better than what Newcastle already have.

he got picked ahead of Trezeguet because Trezeguet is a statue
Gomis is no David Villa that is blatently obvious he is more like Benjani a poor striker who lacks confidence but can look good when his confidence is high

Arsenal and Barca have both put in bids of £12m for Trezeguet.

Adebayor to leave for AC Milian and Hleb to join Inter Milan.

Dynamite Kid 06-18-2008, 08:35 AM [QUOTE=RiZOOM;3639249]Adebayor to leave for AC Milian and Hleb to join Inter Milan.[/QUOT
its just paper talk IMO but TBH i would snatch Barca's hand off for 25 mil for Ade -tool his first touch is diabolical and i dont rate him that much at all he scored a lot of goals last year but in vital games he missed some complete sitters
as for Hleb he can leave aswell for all i care ,Arsenal need width and goals from a wide position not someone who continuously comes inside and never shoots let alone scores he is no Bobby Pires thats for sure
if we get 10-15 mil for Hleb and 25 mil for Ade i would be happy
Dynamite Kid 06-18-2008, 08:38 AM ive just compied and pasted this from an Arsenal Blog i use and this is what Arsenal fans think of Ade -Tool
143. Pier @ 13.11
All this talk about Barca offering £24m for Ade is bollocks. After unsettling the player further, they will turn around and offer us £15m.
Of course if I am wrong and they are stupid enough to offer us the full amount, we should bite their effin hand off!
TRAVI$ 06-18-2008, 09:42 AM Sydney Govou?
He was absolutely terrible last night, easily tackled
Dynamite Kid 06-18-2008, 10:07 AM Sydney Govou?

Sydney Govou Jeez how does this guy even get near the french side i saw him play against Arsenal ages ago for Lyon and he was **** then to
MickyHatton 06-18-2008, 01:42 PM Luca Toni for me, I have read so much hype about this guy yet I haven't seen him turn on a performance yet. Surely a 'world class' striker should convert at least one chance if he gets half a dozen in a match?
Some of his chances last night were clear cut, he didn't even hit the target.
