In my opinion jadakiss and styles P are top 5 dead or alive... Personally i listen to alot of new york rap, but i understand alot of people on this forum listen to all different types. (Thats why i put EAST COAST) If you disagree that they are not top 5 on the east coast please explain why and who you think is better.

The thing to me about styles p and jadakiss is that they always put out hard music. They dont change there style to get on the radio, or to sound a certain way to make money for a label. They put out hard music and its either you like it or you dont, but its always been VERY consistant. They have been in the game forever, Styles P just dropped two very under rated albums that just came with pure bars. Were still waitin for jada to drop, but hes still puttin out crazy verses if you know where to look or if your on the mixtape scene. Consistancy is everything and they are two of the most consistant rappers of all time. PERIOD

They are not top 5 dead or alive not even from east coast (from Yonkers yes). Now they top 5 even though I got Styles outside the top 5, he could easily get in my tops esp. if they come out with a Lox album. Beans, Jay-Z, Jada, Cas, Fab, Nas, and Styles is top east coast right now

East Coast let me see...

1. Nas
2. Jay
3. Biggie
4. Rakim
5. Redman

All of those I would have to take over Styles and Jada. They get the job done though. No hate at all I just think those artists and a few others are above the LOX.

Yeah that is good no doubt but Jada aint top 5 on the east coast and never will be.

Guys like Rakim, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, BDK, Meth and many more would **** on him everyday of the week so it's IMPOSSIBLE for him to ever get in there.

AND.... Jada aint on Techs level either. he could NEVER deliver lyrics the way Tech does. If you notice I aint claimed tech to be on the top of any list. So what difference does it make that he's in my avi??

You say you're a 'hip hop head' but you obviously have a very limited outlook on the **** you listen to. If you broadened your outlook maybe then you'd realise that Jadakiss and Styles P are good emcees but are NO WAY in the top 5 GOAT from the east coast.

And since you're dissing Tech and keep going on about Jada and Styles coming hard on a track and said how they don't change there style just to get on the radio! Listen to 'Industry Is Punks' and tell me what you think! That's exactly what that track is about and it's HARD.

I remember buying Styles debut album a few years back and enjoying it. If I'm not mistaken he also went gold with sales. It was a quality release and a solid start to a promising solo career but after that his creative output has declined. Time Is Money, started off strong with G-Joint but tapered off into a waste of time. I didnt give a listen to his latest effort but from the few tracks I've heard he seems to be toying with the commercial idea.. usually an album with Ray-J, Akon, and Swizz Beatz (of recent memory) is partial commercial. I know he had some dope mc's on it and drove it back into true nyc hip hop but it really did not make a splash on anyones radar.

I think in order to be considered Top 5 dead or alive you need to grow as an artist and get creative as you go, break barriers and make music that is timeless. Styles P has not achieved that status at all yet. I label him as a tight NYC based MC who would probally not even make it into my top 25 of all mc's (all coasts.)

Styles P is horrible!! Jada is nice but he doesn't work like he is supposed to..1 album every 3 years aint gone cut it.....below is just a few who's much better than thos two..

I didnt give a listen to his latest effort

i took this out of text.. but cmon my man i can say fair enough with what you said about time is money... but even that had some solid tracks, This is how we live, Leave a Message, G joint, Who want a problem, and arguably a couple of the other tracks... But those are strong joints...

But to make my point, his latest album Super Gangster... its a banger plain and simple! Blow your Mind produced by swizz, Gangster Gangster sounding like an old lox joint, You aint ready for me with beanie, All i know is pain produced by alchemist, Alone in the street, Star of the state with ghostface killah.... I even like a few of the other tracks but Super gangster is great because its got some great apperances with beanie, ghostface, jada and sheek, Akon... and a few more but those are the stand out tracks. Not to mention great production. You got to give it a listen. I understand alot of people on this small little peice of a hip hop forum disagree with me but its not all just about cds, keep the mixtape game in mind... And i dont want to hear how tech nine is better then the lox im sorry juggers but get real

Im not feelin that joint and I bought Beans last album. I just feel like .. I've heard all of it before. On Styles case like I said yeah the dude can rap but where has he taken his music from a creative pov? It's the same formula over and over... compare that to artists such as Jay-Z. Jay has grown as an artist over his career unlike most dudes. Reasonable Doubt is one of the dopest albums ever penned and produced. Blueprint was his commercial cross-over classic, Kingdom Come was his so called "grown up" persona and to be is grossly underrated. Then look at American Gangster, a street concept album based on his life and a film.. I mean come on thats a creative MC.

Other dudes who have grown as Mc's and artists..

Lil Wayne- From a kid in Cash Money to one of the illest dudes around. Carter 1 was dope but had his youth on it, Carter 2 is one of my favorite records and was brilliant and even Carter 3 his so called Blueprint is a great listen. New flows, new styles, new productions.. growth as an artist.

Rakim- Legendary MC tagged up with producer Eric B, they helped mold the game as we know it today. After that ended , Ra got creative with his wordplay and concepts on his two solo joints (even though I wasnt huge on The Master).

Tupac Shakur- No debate here from a street poet who was rapping about culture and issues that mattered to a cross over commercial star during his Death Row years.. he died at age 25 and look at what he achieved .. icon status.

I mean these are just 3 examples but that to me shows a true artists and gets you mentioned in a Top 5 conversations.. Also you need a bonafied classic album to be in Top 5 talk.. IMO.

Styles and AZ need to collab more..."the hardest" was crazy.

American Gangster was a dope album. But it's the same the hustler's theme that Jay has had throughout his whole career. I wouldn't say it signified any diversity. But I agree he's a more complete artist than some of these other punchline rappers.

Rose Styles is not horrible. Words like that are used for rappers with no talent. The guy can spit.

5 of your 10 havent done a whole lot in an ill minute, I **** with AZ though.

Pharoahe Monch dropped Desire last year. Great album and better than any of Jada or Styles' albums!

Talib Kweli dropped Ear Drum last year, Awesome album and thought of as one of the best hip hop albums brought out in 2007.

Mos def dropped in 2006 and is bringing out The Ecstatic this summer.

Fair enough the other two aint dropped for a while but Guru is just a legend and I think of AZ as a better emcee than Jada and Styles. That's why I put him in there.
