!! Shawn 06-13-2008, 08:45 PM Because I know sombody is going to say you suck you are lunging with right hands and stumbling.
Those are not right hands. They are stuffs. I reach with my right hand, press his left glove into his chest she he can't hit me, pivot right, then left hook.
aussieboxer2320 06-13-2008, 09:12 PM yeah thats good a bit of an unusual stance (quite open) and you drop the left a bit but i guess that may be your style
BOLLOCKS 06-13-2008, 09:21 PM I bet you could beat the **** out of Bobby Lee.:D
danny stash 06-13-2008, 09:29 PM you are not roy jones...keep your left up..

Your no roy jones.:D
!! Shawn 06-13-2008, 09:41 PM Wait til you fight a dude with long arms and flick fast jab...
I already have, and what exactly did you see that leads you to believe that I am open to a jab?
machotime 06-13-2008, 09:41 PM I do when its needed.
You are obviously a novice and you should focus on safety first. Dont be boastful or try to be flashy. Acquire a good foundation in regards to proper technique.
Any good boxer can see your jab coming from a mile away... shooting a jab from your hip is irresponsible and leaves you vulnerable. I would have a field day with straight rights.

Luke has trouble with jabs so I was slowing them down, and blatantly telegraphing them so he would have an opportunity to catch or slip them.
Like I said, constructive sparring. Luke has a tendency to fight tense, so I was helping him relax. I was fighting relaxed, swinging my arms, some times jiggling my body to show how lose I am.
I was not showboating or being boastful, I was teaching by example. Every time you see him drop his hands and shake his arms its because I told he that he was getting to tense and to relax.
The first round of actual sparring was round number 5 of time in the ring. The first 5 rounds were defensive drills. I threw punches at him for 3 rounds, he threw punches at me for 2.
After 3 rounds of sparring, he wanted more help with his defense so I threw punches at him for another 3 rounds.
This was also my first time sparring since December 12th when I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
supRa 06-13-2008, 10:02 PM pick ur left hand up, b4 i used to do that and look back in those fight and i regret doing that but ahhh wth, how much u weight ?
!! Shawn 06-13-2008, 10:08 PM pick ur left hand up, b4 i used to do that and look back in those fight and i regret doing that but ahhh wth, how much u weight ?
141lb. Most people underestimate my size because I look shorter than I am because I have broad shoulders, and look filled out.
But I am actually 5'10" and 141lb
If you watched the first rounds of defense, I always start with my hands up, and my style gradually changes as I figure out my opponents timing, and rhythm and combinations.
aussieboxer2320 06-14-2008, 01:38 AM yeah but if your fighting a guy with a big right hand you'll be ****ed
Towelie 06-14-2008, 01:39 AM this pitty pat sparring isnt gonna get you no where once someone lets there hands go on you. But im not going to judge you, you could just be working on relaxing and defensive techniques
angus the bull 06-14-2008, 01:46 AM Mate i understand u were showing him how to relax but keep your left hand up. You can still relax with your hands up. Them rounds of sparring aren't good for the amateurs. You both need a higher work rate but keep it up mate.
Actus Reus 21 06-14-2008, 08:02 AM I am sorry but that **** in the video was not real sparring. Not trying to come off as if this is a dis but from all the talk on here and the stuff you post, I would of expected better opposition and better skill. Please show us a real sparring session where your opponent was not a moving heavybag. Thank you.
verbz 06-14-2008, 09:18 AM seriously is this how people spar? at my gym we spar alot harder than that. we go to war. we see it as the harder u work in the gym the easier it will be in da ring. im confused if this is what other clubs r doin?
Darkstranger 06-14-2008, 09:28 AM Here's the problem I find with you !!Shawn. You talk the talk! But none of your videos have ever backed up your claims of how good you say you are. So far you've posted vids when you've got an injured left hand and a sparring video that doesn't show a damn thing about your own skills you glorify so much. Fair enough you said you were helping the other guy but I think people would've prefered to see an intense sparring session showing us all the skills you've been talking about.
You tell everyone about your skills but I'm sorry, yours vids haven't shown me that your anything special as yet. Remember when some us are watching your vids we're not comparing you to other vids in the forum, or on youtube or people shadowboxing in a wardrobe! We're comparing you to actual fighters we train with day in/day out at our own respective gyms and clubs.
You've got a fair amount of criticism over your vids, some fair comment, some a little harsh but the best way to shut people up would've been to post a good quality intense sparring session.
Just my 2 cents!

Fair enough, and good post, but what you need to realize is that I am not posting these videos to impress people. People can want a video of me sparring hard all they want, I have already said, they are not going to get one.
I am not seeking validation, I am not asking anyone to call me amazing, I have never claimed to be gods gift to boxing, I am simply sharing some of my experience, and hopefully helping a few people in the process.

you don't look bad but you're definetely not a fast handed counter-puncher like you said you were. Your speed looks average, and your timing and hand speed doesen't look good enough to lay any serious hurt on someone. Now obviously that one video doesen't really mean **** because it's just one vid but honestly man don't practice half assed punches ever even against a weak boxer like that guy in the vid. If you don't want to hurt the guy just limit the amount of punches you throw and don't step into/turn into your shots. Try and throw em fast but just dont punch through the guy's head. The guy has to learn somehow.

I have NEVER claimed to have blazing fast hands. Never. I don't. I have quick reflexes and good timing, not amazingly fast hands.
Luke is also not a weak boxer. Not only is he physically very strong, he is accurate, is in excellent condition, and normally throws around 80-100 punches a round. He hits hard, has fast hands, moves his head well, has great combinations, and is an all around athletic guy.
If you want to criticize me, fine, but don't talk **** about Luke.
twanky1 06-14-2008, 04:54 PM Whats with all the hate? Im pretty sure most of you guys are jealous that someone is out there training to compete why you sit on your ass and criticize peoples videos.
I see nothing wrong with that video, you can only dance as well as your partner.
Sure the sparring is soft but thats what the other guy needs at this point in time. Shawn also seems to be using the left hand down technique surprisingly well at this point.
Being a person who thinks that style is ridiculous for Amateur boxers I would like to see how he goes hard sparring.
Well done for trying to help people Shawn, im fighting on July 5 for the first time and i reckon im about as good as you, similar style apart from the philly shell. How many fights have you had mate?

I have a question to the members of this site, how come when ever someone post a video with they left down the first thing out ya mouth "ur not roy jones but that left up" gotttt damnnnn yo... do yall even watch boxing?????? like forreal.... like he is the only one with a low left... its pathetic.....
Darkstranger 06-14-2008, 08:19 PM Fair comment !!shawn.
Is their a reason why you prefer not to show your intense sparring? Like I can definately understand if people don't wanna show their fight vids.
I noticed something in your footwork, I don't know if it's because you're going at a slow pace, but whenever you moved backwards your feet came close together giving the potential to be knocked off balance. It's also evident in your speed bag vid also.

It is the internet age, recording your hard sparring and posting it on the internet is no different if not worse than inviting your opponent in to the gym to watch you train. At least if you invite them into the gym to watch, they can't watch it over and over.
Call me paranoid, but I have personally used internet videos to beat people, so I have no intention of giving anyone the opportunity to do that against me.
About the footwork, that is a fair observation. It is a bad habit, its mainly because of the size of the ring apron. I use to step back like you are suppose too, but I stepped out through the ropes and twisted my ankle so I decided it is better to just take the chance of being knocked off balance and bouncing off the ropes instead of twisting my ankle again stepping through the ropes.
I try to do it right in the bigger rings, but obviously, I do **** up every once in a while. I have good legs, and good mobility, so I have always managed to recover from any of those off balance situations.
TheTruthIs 06-15-2008, 12:20 AM It's not a good spar at all, no matter what you are going. Light, 1/2...and especially not full. This exemplifies exactly what is wrong with so many of the internet youtubing warriors. You post this dribble, then you spend the next 20 posts arguing other's comments. You watch yourself over and over, and instead of looking for ways to improve, you look at the few things you do right, and go.."Did you see that! Weren't it awesome!" lol
I could give some good contructive critism, but what's the point, really. Waste of both mine and your time. I only signed up here for a laugh. I only really stop by here for a laugh and usually at the expense of some of you vid dorks. I'm sure there are some good boxers in here, but most of you posting these are just horrible, yet somehow, seemingly, marvelously oblivious to it.
Get your ass off youtube and spend more time at the gym. Or accept that you do in fact kinda suck, and please quit trying to convince others otherwise. We know what's what.
(that last bit actually was advice, my apologies)
mgkirkpatrick 06-15-2008, 03:31 AM like you said it's far from intense sparring so iwasnt going to watch ten minutes of it..
i only watched the first couple of minutes so i dont really have much to say.. just be careful with your footwork like someone else said.. it looked like you were grapevining when you circled left.. not a habit you want. you did look nice and relaxed in there. good onya for posting the vid
sterling 06-15-2008, 07:55 PM lol and this guy has the nerv to critisize my sparring lmao.
peewee1460 06-15-2008, 09:39 PM a stance u may want is tucking your right hand under your chinand your left just below it. a stance like this does require a lot of head movement and reflexes, but the way it forces you to hold your hand can really add some snap to a properly thrown jab

No offense, but that is the worst stance there is. Never, never, NEVER drop your right hand from the side of your head. Protecting yourself from the left hook is one of the most important things in boxing.

From what you have put on display in this video I have to come to the conclusion that you are not ready for any amount of serious sparring. There are so many things which you are doing wrong it is hardly worth listing them. You need to go back to doing drills and shadow boxing to perfect, as well as you are able, the fundamentals.
I have a suspicion there is a lack of supervision in your gym. Why isn't somebody screaming at you every time you screw-up?

but also, it didnt look to me as if the guy in that vid was an athletic guy with great combinations :ugh: and man im 14 and i spar harder than thta, if thats the intensity you put in the gym, you will get your ass handed to you come fight night, i learned that and have heard it from other boxers also

You guys crack me up!
Its really amusing the flack I catch from people. It's fine with me, continue to flame away to your hearts content, but just keep in mind you have no idea what you are talking about.
In 3 rounds of sparring I got hit with 1 punch. 1 PUNCH! 0 Jabs, 0 Body Shots, 0 Left hooks, 1 deflected Right hand that Ironically hit me because my hands were up and I didn't see it (Watch at 3:26).
I was more relaxed in the ring than most of you are posting on this forum.
Most of you really miss the finer points of boxing. You are under the impression that to be a good you have to be fast as lighting and look just like Juan Manuel Marquez.
Many of you forget that the most important thing in boxing is your brain. Keeping your hands up is a waste of energy, if you already know when your opponent is going to punch, and what punch they are going to throw.
People are under the impression that they will beat me because they see some critical flaw... No, that is why you will lose. You don't realize that I want you to think I have that flaw. I want you to try and take advantage of that flaw... you are just playing into my hand.
Above all else, boxing is a game of strategy. You can have the best technique in the world, the fastest hands in the world, the most power in the world, its not enough.
You have to be smart, you have to be relaxed, you will never beat someone that can out think you.
You guys can keep working on perfecting your technique, and increasing your speed, and improving your power, endurance, strength and scariness. I will spend my time learning to control my opponents, to trick you, to make you think instead of punch, to make you think I am going to do one thing when I am really going to do something else.
Its the difference between knowing how to move a chess piece and where to move a chess piece. You can move your chess piece as fast and precise as you want, if its a crappy move, none of it matters.
My game is tricking you into making LOTS of crappy moves.

Because I already went through that phase, then I worked WITH my trainers to develop my current style.
This is what most of you fail to realize. I don't fight the way I do because I never learned the "RIGHT" way. I learned the right way, then WITH my trainers, I started to experiment with "DIFFERENT" ways.

That has nothing to do with Luke. I didn't let him. I didn't let him get off combinations. If I saw him thinking about coming in for a combination, I threw out a jab to force him to reset.
He gets inside, I counter him with a right hand to force him to reset.

It is a perfect example of how I have asserted my will on Luke. All I had to do was stand and do nothing and he sat there trying to feint me into moving and thinking of a way to get in. I let him think for a while and when I saw that he was no longer paying attention to defense, and was instead trying to think of a way to get inside, I threw a strait right hand and them moved to a new angle.
After that point, knowing I was in complete control, I was able to drop both of my hands and dance around without danger, I was able to become more aggressive, and work my offense without fear of being countered.
I didn't do that with technique or speed, or power, I did that with intelligence. I'll post up a video of Luke sparring with someone else some time in the future. He is a very promising fighter.

well maybe when you get knocked out because you didnt keep your hands up you might re-think how "intelligent" it is to keep your hands at your waist.
and plus, have you even had a fight yet?

But you do spar harder than that, Yeh?
How would you handle intense pressure, A guy just constantly attacking with his gloves up, Head in your chest ... How you gonna have time to think when hes in your face 24/7 throwing shots? By the time you plodded around the ring your out for the count ..

Honestly, I pray for a fighter like that every time I step into the ring. That makes my work SO much easier.
Not only do I get to counter with my money punch, the right uppercut, but I get to really have fun with lateral movement and turning a guy.
I don't know why you are under the impression that you are going to beat me by getting on the inside and up on my chest. I love that. Honestly, nothing is more fun to me than that kind of a fight. I still do like to stand in the pocket and fight every once in a while, but I try to box intelligently more often now.
What you are failing to realize is that I AM a puncher. I have power in BOTH hands, and getting in an exchange with a PUNCHER that loves to fight off the ropes is not a good idea.
This is not the pros, the ref sees you walk into one of my counter uppercuts, its a standing 8 count, you do it 2 more times and the fight is over.
You don't have the option to take my shots and keep coming, the ref won't let you.

johnjamieson 06-16-2008, 04:50 PM when you move, you seem to cross your legs alot.
Pork Chop 06-16-2008, 05:06 PM I watched the whole thing, some of it I liked, some of it I didn't.
I liked the parrying with the right hand, working the jab, & being relaxed.
I didn't like the sheer amount of circling at the beginning (too much). Didn't like the way you crossed your feet when circling (asking for trouble). Really didn't like how you'd do head movement & then trip over yourself getting on your bicycle. If you're going to use head movement at least close in & tag a little bit, tie up, or angle off - way too many times you'd slip a punch or two and then hop straight back.
I know you wanted to help Luke, but you didn't even stick around in the pocket long enough to let him score. Way too much retreating straight back; which made the spar look even lighter than it probably was.
Some of these habits you would sometimes not do, but it was enough to be noticeable.
DA1CATAS 06-16-2008, 05:21 PM Fair enough, and good post, but what you need to realize is that I am not posting these videos to impress people. People can want a video of me sparring hard all they want, I have already said, they are not going to get one.
I am not seeking validation, I am not asking anyone to call me amazing, I have never claimed to be gods gift to boxing, I am simply sharing some of my experience, and hopefully helping a few people in the process.
lol... How are you helping anyone by posting this?
It shows you and your opponent totally relaxed and doing nothing. When i spar with my lil brothers (who don't box) we go way harder than this... and im just teaching them to fight in general with their hands... I hit them hard and they hit back..
again they don't box.. we do it outside on concrete..and they are only 14 and 16 now.. I guess i should be posting that... because thats basically what your doing here.. So no it doesn't help anyone.
Anyway.. I guess its nice your trying to help that guy... but that definitely won't be interesting to anyone here on boxingscene.. and if your posting it here... Your definitely trying to get someone to say nice job. If not you wouldn't post it.
lol..and I'm sure alot of people are smarter than myorga.. but guess what? He still knocked them out. 1 example fernando vargas..example 2...Vernon forrest.

Stop trying to defend yourself after you post pathetic videos, stop syaing i would love for a presure fighter ect because at your gym youve never expirienced a proper spar,
people on these forums can instanlty tell, hmmm.....that looks liek very slow beginnerish sparring, wheres the head movment, inensity combos, Hard Shots! scoring shots hooks upercuts,
Thats not a Spar!
you dont relaise! your delusional! Youve got your head so far up in the clouds your not atchuly lisening to anything?
Wen you post a bag vid, you looked slow and weak and like you were learning, and tis the same on your sparring videos,
Cant you see that other people on this forum have brains! and boxing brains! we can see that you look slow and soft and weak sparring, wheres your trainer!
if my trainer came to your gym and sed 'what the fuc is that suposed to be' , 'spar harder with more intesnsity' what would you say?
'no, this is how your suposed to spar' LMFAO
your a joke, its time to acsept what your doing is what your doing, your sparring is slow, weak, no intensity of fitness involved! pathetic!
We can all se what your doing so just acsept it, we know boxing as much if not more than you but you seem to think othwerwise,
I could spar at your pace all night...........
im only 16 and i would love to spar you and post it up on here, and then see what you say................'Ohhhh i got my ass kicked because...he sparred to hard'
You boxing knoladge is decent you just dont have the abiltity to show it in the ring................................
Stop with the excuses, post a video of you sparring at a high intensity with proper shots, and as if its a real bout against a good oponent, untill you fail to do this which you probably will, you will just be know as that guy who posts ****y videos on boxing scene and then trys to defend himself.
shaun were not all blind, conme to realise that, or prove us wrong
mr tricky 06-16-2008, 05:29 PM please answer me when your online, on this thread, dacats is so right lol, i spar harder than that with my lil bor aswell lol,
shaun, dont say, 'sparring hard is not needed bla bla bla' coz what you gonna do wen sumwhere down the line you meet sumone in your weight class, who has been sparring with power and intensity for weeks and youve been doing your sparring, coz the other person will eat you because your nothing he is used to,
mr tricky 06-16-2008, 05:33 PM omg what were you wearing a groin protector for.............
or even a headgaurd for that matter??????
o yeah just incase he stroked your balls lmao
im not joking people but rewatch shauns vid and then watch charile zelanoff sparriing..........i know who my money would be on.
the thing is shaun , i would usally feel bad for posting all this, and feel sorry for you, however i think its time your cut the bull **** to help your boxing
RonRoss 06-16-2008, 05:35 PM Honestly, I pray for a fighter like that every time I step into the ring.
So basically you can do anything, Counter any style and punch like a mule ...
How many fights have you had and whats your record?
mr tricky 06-16-2008, 05:38 PM lol i feel sorry for you,
you posted a video of your self sparring a beginner at your gym...................................and you still got a load of abuse for it.

You are right, I need to work on my directionality. I usually only go right to get out of corners or when I stop and think about it. I need to work on doing it more often. And I need to work on throwing punches while I am circling right.
I guess I don't do it much because I do not feel like I have a solid base to punch from when I do it.
That was a good criticism. You pointed out a tactical error that I am making, that is the kind of criticism I am open to.

Its Very false.
Mayorga beat Forrest because he did out think him. He tricked Forrest into trying to brawl with him.
And obviously I could hit Luke harder, but the point was to help him learn to relax, if I hit him harder, he would have gotten tense.
P4PKING_2008 06-16-2008, 06:37 PM Shawn whats ya record?
RonRoss 06-16-2008, 06:37 PM Mayorga beat Forrest because he did out think him. He tricked Forrest into trying to brawl with him.
How many fights do you have and how many Wins/Losses?
!! Shawn 06-16-2008, 07:01 PM I watched the whole thing, some of it I liked, some of it I didn't.
I liked the parrying with the right hand, working the jab, & being relaxed.
I didn't like the sheer amount of circling at the beginning (too much). Didn't like the way you crossed your feet when circling (asking for trouble). Great post, but I think you are misunderstanding what the purpose of the sparring was.
It was my goal to help Luke relax and be able to see punches coming more easily.
I had no intention of sticking around and letting him score. Luke does not need help finding openings or learning to punch in combinations, he is already quite good at it, but he gets tense, and sometimes he becomes so focused on looking for openings, that he doesn't see some of the punches coming. I was trying to help him with that.
It was also my second time sparring in over 9 months, 1st time in over 6 months due to medical problems. There are few little rusty spots I need to work on, one of them is moving after head movement, although the part you are talking about where I nearly fell over, was because I blocked a left hook from Luke that pushed me off balance when I was coming out of the deep squat.
My footwork in general has suffered as a result of not being able to spar. My balance is not as good, my pivots are off. I looked awkward doing some moves that I use to look much more fluid doing.
Its also true that I made the sparring look lighter than it was. I was holding back on my punches, to help Luke relax, but Luke's punches were quite a bit stiffer than they look on camera.
I guess you can't really tell how hard a punch is if you don't see it hit hitting anything.

...........................
Pork Chop 06-16-2008, 07:18 PM Part of my comment was that tensing up can come from not having a lot of confidence.
If you let him score on the inside- assuming he slips your punches, it'll let him know that if he evades the punches & gets to the inside that there's a "pot of gold" waiting for him.
He'll be more motivated than just sitting on the outside of his range & dodging your shots.
Plus I think it would give him better habits - use the defense to have better offense.
But that's just my opinion.
Like I said, I'm a firm believer that any punch slipped should be used to close distance & hit.

I understand what you are saying, but I wasn't trying to build his confidence, he doesn't have any confidence problems at all, he just gets a little to tense in the heat of battle.
If I was his only sparring partner I would let him find me every once in a while, but there are plenty of people he spars with that he absolutely dominates. In fact, I think he has gotten the best of everyone in our gym with the exception of myself and Dorian.
I am going to work with him on his head movement because I feel it is a little excessive, and he has a tendency to do it to the point of predictability.
I didn't show the rounds were I was throwing punches at Luke helping him with his defense, but he pretty predictably slipped right then left and rolled under so I would just throw a Jab Right hand, then a weak left hook to disguise the fact that I was stepping back to hit him square in the forehead with a right uppercut as he tried to roll under the left hook.
I am also helping him properly catch and parry jabs. A LOT of people do it wrong, they try to slap it down and if its retarded easy to feint their hand out of position and drill home a left hook, so I am teaching him when and were to use the different kinds of catches and parries.
Catching and Parrying has always been my strong point. I can move my head really well now, and slip and use my legs for defense, but I use to be a strictly block and catch and parry guy.
I still have a tendency to do that a bit I mainly block parry or catch anything to do with the left hand.
I am not sure if it is because I am a natural southpaw that the motion is so comfortable for me, with the left handed baseball glove and all, but it is, and I use it to the best of my ability, and try to help anyone I can with it too.

d_lyrik803 06-16-2008, 10:30 PM I'm sorry but even when i was a beginner in boxing i didn't do this type of light sparring, my British coach would be calling me all sorts of humiliating insults if he ever saw any of us play around like that in the ring and the owner would tell me im wasting my money. if the guy needed some advice, he should have sought an actual trainer with years of experience over a guy that half the forum thinks is overrated. you're not helping the guy out if you're displaying all sorts of bad habits that all boxers need to avoid. the guy is just going to read off you n will probably display the same habits against someone else in a real FIGHT which is BAD, hes not learning anything except "stay relaxed". staying relaxed is good but no one wins fight without being aggressive and displaying the correct technicalities of boxing.

My game is tricking you into making LOTS of crappy moves.
lol **** off bernard

d_lyrik803 06-18-2008, 12:32 PM LOL this guy acts like if there hasn't been amateurs in the ring that deal with other fighters that try these "tricks" with them. even pros deal with mind games all the time, and prevail because of their technique and hard training they put in.
Keeping your hands up is a waste of energy? that was the dumbest claim in your whole argument.

see all this people just keep repeating my point from day 1,
and youre still to far up your own arse to realise it
LOL this guy acts like if there hasn't been amateurs in the ring that deal with other fighters that try these "tricks" with them. even pros deal with mind games all the time, and prevail because of their technique and hard training they put in.
Keeping your hands up is a waste of energy? that was the dumbest claim in your whole argument.
Go study the thread "Proper Sparring", they show how a good sparring session should be.
Listen im not sticking up for the guy, But your not even giving decent critisism, Your just acting like complete twats giving random abuse, What have you posted thats better? ... Oh wait ...
At least he takes boxing seriously ...
P.S .. Shawn i still think your a cunt :)
TheTruthIs 06-18-2008, 06:14 PM What makes this so absolutely hilarious to me is that half of you don't even realize that this is not "real" sparring.
If you guys could stop tripping over your egos and actually watch the video, you might learn something.
Honestly, I don't expect anything less from a bunch of 16 year-olds, I am sure you guys know absolutely everything there is to know about boxing.
The only reason you are catching so much flack, is because you posted this and dispute anything and everything people say in critique. You most likely have a record of telling people how much more you know then them too and so on...I admit I am just guessing on the second part.
The thing is about a video, it's only real value is to find fault, so you therefore can correct said fault. It is blatantly obvious this was not what you wanted. For you started dismissing criticism immediately and made excuses for the faults that were found.
I think if you were more humble as a person, and more humble as a poster, no matter what you posted, you would likely have gotten some positive feedback. I've seen far worse then yours, it isn't the worst or anything, but the reaction from the posters is unparalleled to anything I have ever seen.
Don't you even ask yourself why that is?
I'm not going to harp on your technique, but yea, it needs work. I will suggest you need an attitude adjustment though. In any case, good luck with whatever you do.

I'm opposing his "reasons" for doing certain things in training that will "help" out his team mates.
and I didn't know that making a rhetorical statement towards his comment saying that keeping your hands up is a waste of energy was not some sort of criticism.
and my biggest problem is if you can't take criticism then don't ask for it, and hes an example of it because he disputes every critique a person makes on this board .....
peewee1460 06-18-2008, 10:42 PM i agree with what the above post says and shawn exactly how many amature fights do you have?

You have misquoted me, and put words into my mouth.
I said, "Keeping your hands up is a waste of energy, if you already know when your opponent is going to punch, and what punch they are going to throw."
Please note the part in bold.
I would also love for you to point out where I asked for criticism... I didn't.
If you want to criticize the footage instead of using it as a learning aid, go for it. However, your time would be better spent elsewhere.

youre a joke, how can you posibbly know everytime sumone is going tot hrow a punch?
you may be able to do that at your gym? with that guy you just sparred, or your low intsesity slow boxing then mabey you can do that.
but if you came to sumone elses gym and sed you know when they are going to throw a punch, you would be laughed at, you can geuss sumtimes but not evertime agsinst all people,

And that my friend is why you need to stop hating on me and start learning what I have to teach.
Reading your opponent is a skill. As you have just made clear, it is a skill that you are either unaware of, or have no idea how to perform. Its no more guess work than reading a book.

PunchDrunk 06-20-2008, 05:35 PM Hey Shawn, got your PM from a while back about the video, didn't see it until just now 'cause I was in Poland for the EU championships... As we're both aware, you and I have a history on this board. You posting video's, me pointing out flaws/mistakes/whathaveyou, you making excuses (I'm sure in your world they're legitimate reasons), me telling you, you're not listening to what's being said and you're nowhere near as good or knowledgeable as you think you are.
Well, this thread might not be so much different. One can only tell so much from watching a guy hit a bag, hit the mitts, etc., but watching a fighter with someone put in front of them pretty much tells the whole story. I realize that it's not all out sparring or a real fight, but this video just tells me I hit it right on the nail with what I've said about your other video's (and the nature of this thread also tells me I'm right about your ego, you're one brain cell away from being the next Charlie Z, DON'T get hit in the head one more time!! :D ), you're inexperienced, clumsy and I guess too full of yourself to learn. Luke is 5'8" 165lb. I am in the gray shorts with the white Jordans.

He is right, soccer is gay as played in America which contains San Francisco. That's why gay Beckham and the US team play there as it is non contact and they give fouls for any chop even if you win the ball! The reason why Vinny Jones made it as a Hollywood hardman but OJ Simpson and Beckham never will.
Football on the other hand is a man's game, especially in EPL where dirty Eduardo de Silva type tackles happen every week. Americans have no flair so made up their own bollocks. Judging by the vid son, you should be in UFc wearing a pair of spandex knickers. Is it any surprise nobody plays NFL smear the queer? The tights kill it off.
