Got this game this morning. I've only played a few exhibitions and so perhaps the career mode is terrible, but so far I think it's pretty good. It's certainly a lot better than people have been saying.

My first fight was as JMM against Casamayor. I tried to jab and move but realised that his size advantage made that a bit difficult, so I tried to hold the centre of the ring, keep a high guard, and counter his wide hooks. Towards the end of the second round I caught him with a few good body punches but as I was teeing off the bell rang so the lucky bastard escaped. I didn't do that well for the rest of the fight and was KO'd in the 5th.:nonono:

My second fight was as Calzaghe against Pavlik. I started off quite well and was able to use the quick 1-2 pretty well. I felt like I won the first 2 rounds, but then Pavlik's power started to take effect. One thing I had problems with is how he seemed to be able to step in with his punches in a way that I hadn't gotten the hang of. I did OK in this fight but I think Pavlik was on roids or something because he managed to KO me in the 5th as well. I was ahead on points too. I felt like Meldrick Taylor against JCC.

Then I was Enzo Mac against Steve Cunningham. I basically stood toe-to-toe with him, trying to land powerful left and right hooks whilst blocking his. I got the better of him in the first round, in the second he hurt me with some big uppercuts, but then I did better in the 3rd and 4th. For the rest of the fight I tried to stay out of his way, figuring that I didn't need to win the 5th and just relying upon the straight right hand and a high guard if he ever got in close. I won on points:banana:

Of course, the game isn't perfect. I am unsure that a jab and move strategy would work, but then again I'm not used to how the game plays yet. Hopefully I'm wrong. The ring seems a bit small but I'm hoping the unlockable venues have larger rings.

But so far, I like this game.

Once you blow the 60 or 50 on a game you try and like it.......even though its ****.

Its amazing that rather than say 2K blew it, folks will force themselves to like this game. Rather than admit it just is not up to par.

Yeah of course, I'm forcing myself to like it:ugh:

The fact is that I've got a cabinet full of games, a 360, a PS3, PS2, PS1, N64, Wii, Mega Drive, SNES, Sega Saturn etc. I guess the point I'm trying to get across is that if I don't like something I have no problem finding something else that I do like to play instead. Off the top of my head I can name several games that I've bought this year, hated, and got rid of soon after. So please STFU when you don't know what you're talking about.

If you guys don't like the game then cool, but please don't attempt the amateur psychologist routine.

Whose forcing themselves to like it? I got it and got no gripes other than the lack of big names.
