View Full Version : The Streets...
ABOSWORTH 06-07-2008, 02:05 PM Have any of you guys heard of them? Limey rap! The beats are ****ing sick IMO. I was listening to Original Pirate Material and I dig it. Pretty unique sound. I've never really heard any other groups where the rapper has a thick British accent like that..
What do you all think about them?

black.ink 06-07-2008, 02:41 PM I remember when Original Pirate Material first came out and i was like the only kid in the city popping to that album. Instant classic.
Their second album 'Grand Don't Come For Free' was a good album, and had a great concept/theme and featured a local female MC who i've met a couple times called C-Mone.
Then by their third album, their style was too repetitive and Skinners sound just got boring.
Spambo boy 06-07-2008, 02:49 PM It's ****, I hate that cunt.
It's not rap it's just a tit who has no sense of rhythm, talking over a beat.
Some of the beats are quite good though.

What? Skinner is the greatest lyricist since Dylan.

It's a little weird but I think it's kind of good. The beats on the Original Pirate Material are really good I think.

JESUS CHRIST WHAT A ****ING STATEMENT!!
Dylan I would agree is the best lyricist ever. There must be MANY more who come before this brummy tart. You cant seriously put him infront of legends like John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley etc.

Me too. A million miles before him infact. If I ever heard anybody say Mike Skinner is a better lyricist than Nas i'd just kick em in the nuts!
Don Gorgon 06-10-2008, 05:04 AM Original Pirate Material is a classic. I think the novelty has worn off though.

Nah man, it was a joke. Dylan is the greatest. Nas is head and shoulders above anybody in the rap game.......
Also, to the threadstarter....i wouldn't class The Streets as British Hip Hop.
