As boxing is pretty much dead with no real superstars left and the decline of boixng in the mainstream media. I am a new convert to MMA.
Just wondering who is P4P Champ.
Who is the heavyweight Cham?
What is UFC and Pride FC and where Kimbo fights.
What fighting style is having the best effect?

Are you ****ing serious? You're turning into an MMA fan cos theres no "superstars" left in boxing and its no longer as big as it was in the media?
You're getting into MMA for the wrong reasons. However its up to you whether you like it or not. Personally for me the UFC events create the old atmosphere boxing events used to, which just adds to how good MMA is.
P4P champ is Anderson Silva or Georges ST Pierre. Between these two.
Heavyweight champion is Randy Couture but he refuses to fight for the UFC anymore due to contract disputes so currently Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is the interim heavyweight champion.
UFC is the biggest mixed martial arts organisation (kinda like WWE is the largest wrestling organisation). Pride FC was an old MMA organisation in Japan that was just as big. UFC took over Pride and pretty muched canceled it and signed their top fighters.
Kimbo Slice fights in Elitce XC however hes utter wank. Gonna get exposed by a good fighter soon.
There's no "Ultimate" fighting style. However, most experts agree the best stand-up fighting style is Muay Thai kickboxing and then there is Brazillian Jujitsu which is used for ground fighting (submissions etc). There are many other popular styles that are used such as Wrestling and Judo.

LOL, you're becoming a fan of MMA because Floyd Mayweather retired? So he's the only reason you watched? http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gifhttp://www.boxingscene.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif

Personally I find boxing to be a lot more interesting to follow as a sport month by month, but with MMA you get a lot more bang for you buck, its great to watch the sport evolve, and it can be very interesting to see how different styles match up.
To answer your questions, Anderson Silva is generally regarded as the P4P #1, although there is a strong case to be made for Fedor Emelianenko as well.
Fedor Emelianenko is the #1 heavyweight in the world, both consensus and in regards to who he's beat. Randy Couture was the UFC heavyweight champion, but he effectively vacated the belt by splitting with the UFC and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is now the UFC heavyweight champ (a man who twice lost to Fedor in Pride).
The UFC has long been the predominant force in MMA in the United States, although some competition has emerged of late. Pride Fighting Championship was the preeminent force in MMA in Japan until a couple of years ago when a series of financial problems, a scandal involving the Japanese mafia, etc. lead to their demise. Pride was subsequently purchased and then dissolved by the UFC, although other Japanese promotions have rose to take its place, most notably Olympia Dream and the Japanese kickboxing promotion K-1.
Kimbo fights fore EliteXC.
For a long time grappling styles, especially Brazillian Jujitsu and Wrestling, as well as Judo, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, etc. were the most dominant in MMA, with few pure strikers having much success. However, there has been a rapid rise in the amount of striking seen in MMA as strikers learn to defend takedowns, grapplers learn how to strike, and as all-around better fighters continue to rise through the ranks.
If you want to see some examples of successful pure strikers I'd check out guys like Mirko "Crocop" Filipovich, Igor Vovchanchyn, Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, and Bas Ruten. Converted strikers include Robbie Lawler, Quinton Jackson, Norifume "Kid" Yamamoto (see my sig.), and Dan Henderson. For grappling there are too many to list, but a few notables are Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Kazushi Sakuraba, Fedor Emelianenko, Genki Sudo, Royce Gracie, Carlos Newton, Nick & Nate Diaz, and many more.
Some videos of all these guys can be found at:

I always end up walking away from the "boxing vs. MMA" arguments just shaking my head :nonono:....I like BOTH, and I like both A LOT! To provide further evidence of my insanity, I also like the NFL, NBA, and MLB...;)
