Hero is catchy. it has the Kanye vibe so it could be a good single.
Kobe Bryant 06-07-2008, 12:12 PM Nas is the best rapper alive.

Yep, i've gotta agree!!!!
that tune is mesmorizing!!!!!!!!!
THe TRiNiTY 06-07-2008, 07:21 PM Black President is insane, has a nice military backdrop, so to speak, but still catchy. Hero is nice for a single, very sick song. His album will be one word = CLASSIC!
BALACLAVA 06-07-2008, 11:13 PM I'll believe it when I see it.
Hip Hop is Dead was supposed to be a classic.

Hip Hop is Dead was supposed to be a classic.
Those songs could be a deviation from what's on the album, but I hear an energy in his voice that i haven't heard in his last few albums.
TRAVI$ 06-08-2008, 12:06 PM Oh ****

black.ink 06-08-2008, 12:42 PM Nas' biggest problem. Weak Hooks. His lyrics and verses are on point as usual, although from what i've heard sound better than his last two releases, but i can't help but to be let down by such weak hooks. This is through-out his career, no matter how good the beat is. I still think he's the GOAT though.
Killa Cam 06-08-2008, 03:57 PM ^u think Nas is the greatest of all time but has had weak hooks his entire career...? whats wrong with this sentence.
Hey in the last verse it sounds like he says the album is going to be untitled.
"Still in musical prison, in jail for the flow, try tell em about Dillon, Bruce or Billy Joel they can't sing what's in they soul, so Untitled it is, i never changed nothing.".

I don't mind the scratch cuts that Premo etc. use for hooks. I don't look at hooks as the reason to listen to a track, i was just stating that Nas tends to lack a decent hook through many great tracks that many critics use to dismiss him altogether. Afterall, the greatest song of all time consisted of just one verse and no hook. Paid In Full.
I think 'Be A Ni**er' would have worked better if he had used the Eazy E sample rather then use his monotone sound for the hook. It's still no reason to knock him, which i am not. Every emcee has his faults. Killa Cam on the other hand has many.
Well the hooks and production on two out of three of the new tracks were good.
Hero and The Slave And The Master.
Dunno if it's my **** speakers, or if the production is ****, but the sound levels seemed all wrong.

It was mixtape quality.

Yeah it does say that.
And ends with "No matter what the CD called, I'm unbeatable yall"
After hearing this it's the first time i've been excited about an album coming out for a long time!! Can't wait now.

th4l3pr3ch4un 06-09-2008, 11:12 AM nas still got it.
The production on Hero is really dynamic, not just a repetitive loop, it moves with the lyrics, even on the part where Nas mentions, Dillon, Bruce and Billy Joel, you can hear Rock guitars appear in the background.
I've always said the real key for Nas is putting real energy in his delivery and not just relying on the quality of his lyrics to carry everything, if he did that, he would run the game.

Sort of like Ghostface, but more lyrically diverse.
