View Full Version : Do you guys choose to get taxes taken out of your checks? VERSATILE2K10 06-03-2008, 11:55 PM My gf says you guys do, just wanna see. Naps 06-03-2008, 11:59 PM My gf says you guys do, just wanna see. Depends if you are self employed or not. VERSATILE2K10 06-04-2008, 12:03 AM Depends if you are self employed or not. What does that matter? Naps 06-04-2008, 12:09 AM What does that matter? Ok, say you are a self employed decorator for example. You don't expect your customer to pay your tax for you do you. So you take the money for painting the ****ers house, then have to declare the income to the tax man and once a year you have to declare all your earnings and pay the tax cunts what you owe. If you work for an employer, they take the tax out of your salary, and pay it direct to the man. However, I have worked jobs before (dodgy jobs), where the employer would pay me without taxing me, then say every so often "sort your own tax out", and that was that. I assume it's the same in America Versatile? VERSATILE2K10 06-04-2008, 12:12 AM Ok, say you are a self employed decorator for example. You don't expect your customer to pay your tax for you do you. You work for yourself (self emplyoyed) it your perogative. VERSATILE2K10 06-04-2008, 12:17 AM What does the Government give you, as for Social Security, WIC. Health Insurance, Retirement, Unemployment, Medicare, Food stamps? mickeyb 06-04-2008, 04:01 AM What does the Government give you, as for Social Security, WIC. Health Insurance, Retirement, Unemployment, Medicare, Food stamps? All of that stuff - we don't really need health insurance, unless you want to be medically treated privately - the government runs the hospitals and you can get treated for free. You get a state pension when you're of retiring age, although most working people have, or have access a pension plan. If you're are unemployed you can recieve money to run your home and eat - at the same time you become exempt from paying certain taxes and the government will pay some of your energy bills and give you vouchers for things such as....say... school uniform for your children. Erm.. When you have a child, you are automatically granted child benefits if you earn under a certain amount. We pay alot of tax, but I guess... in the UK.. the safety net here is VERY large. I can't imagine that i'd ever be in a position that i'd go hungry. Even if i refused to get up off my backside and get a job - the government would still pay out. Some people make quite a good living from having alot of kids and allowing the government to just give them huge sums of cash. x-PeROxiDE-x 06-04-2008, 01:44 PM All of that stuff - we don't really need health insurance, unless you want to be medically treated privately - the government runs the hospitals and you can get treated for free. I don't think they really make that good a living... mickeyb 06-04-2008, 05:29 PM I don't think they really make that good a living... If you play the system right... like some people do..you can make a killing. Have a handful of kids, then pretend that you and your girlfriend have split up. She needs a new house and is now a single mother with umpteen kids. The cash ****ing rolls in. Except you're not really seperated. Shit - you even have two ****ing houses now and the governments paying your bills. next step - become "ill". Suddenly, you and three of your kids have got chronic asthma (but you can still carry on smoking) on top of your "bad back" which has caused depression. The disability allowances flowwww.... next you need a carer - luckily your girlfriend can be your carer (paid by the government) AND you can be HER carer. (double whammy). But wait... you need to get about.... remember that bad back and the depression...plus the asthma...you can't walk but need to get to the doctors. I know! One extra special flid-car. Ordered straight up from council house. |
