View Full Version : How do you wash your hand wraps?
Sin City 05-31-2008, 03:08 PM At first I would stick them with my other clothes in the washer but they get tangled and stuck together.. then you throw them in the dryer and they get all wrinkled and tangled again.. I started hand washing mine but I dunno if I'm washing them right. Also, how often do you wash them? I probably wash them after every three times I use them.. especially since you share gloves with people in the gym if you don't own your own and they tend to get real stinky.
Anyone know a better way to wash them.. I was actually thinking about using an iron on them to get the wrinkles out... dunno if it will **** em up though.
Gato2012 05-31-2008, 03:22 PM hahahaha yea this happened to me my first time. I put them in a pillow case.

me neither... I just hang them over the rack in my wardrobe and they dry stiff. If they stink, that's awesome... wave your fists near your opponent and they back off.
I box too often so I just don't get time to wash them.
.......... 06-01-2008, 01:29 AM This may sound kind of gross, but i've had mine since 2004 and i've only washed them maybe once or twice, and I ****ed up my knuckles hardcore, so they are stained as **** with blood. I just got some new Everlast ones so I'm just going to get rid of my old ones, they are dirty anyways.
I wash them by hand then dry them one by one so they dont get tangled
I just spray anti-bacterial stuff on them, something like dettol.
Versastyle 06-01-2008, 08:35 PM If you don't wash your hand wraps at least 2 times a week, you're sick.
BrooklynBomber 06-01-2008, 09:25 PM Hand wash.
But I buy fresh ones often anyway.

You can get them for so cheap, it's a waste to keep washing them.
Versastyle 06-01-2008, 09:32 PM I throw mine in the washer and most of the time let them air dry.
boxingsmash69 06-01-2008, 09:40 PM i put them in dirty socks. then in machine washer.
fraidycat 06-01-2008, 10:22 PM I use a lingerie bag for my handwraps. You can get them at any department store. It was my wife's idea; works great.
Unanimous 06-02-2008, 07:10 AM I popped mine into a pair of socks. The wraps came out great but the wife wasn't happy the red dye spread throughout the wash!
JayCoe 06-02-2008, 08:47 AM I wash mine after every training, once I forgot and I got to training and they stank like old socks, ****ing horrible. Easiest way to wash them is to put them in the sink, don't **** around with them just get the water in the sink hot, add some washing powder and put them in bit by bit ensuring that I put them in straight and flat. After letting them soak I swirl them abit and then run them through my fingers to squeeze them. I drain the water, add clean hot water and then piss off after, let them soak. I get back, squeeze the water out and take them out one at a time flattening them out and then fold them a few times and stick them on a coat hanger which I stick by my window. It takes alot less effort than it sounds and I put money that just adding that bit of effort at the start by straightening them out cuts down on the time after pulling them out of the washing machine. One of the most annoying things is trying to wrap your hands with wraps which have folded because then you're straightening them out as you wrap, takes ages, I don't get that anymore.

That's why you should roll them up when they are dry. This way they will be flat by the pressure and tension of being wound up. If you get my drift.
JayCoe 06-02-2008, 09:02 AM Yeah I do that, but before even after they'd be rolled up they'd sometimes curl up on the edges used to piss me right off.

That would be far too sensible for us!
