View Full Version : Mundine sparred with Solimon
boxing_great 05-29-2008, 04:49 AM Look if you do boxing, you would know that Mundine wasn't unleashing at Solimon. he was fighting down to his level. There were many many times that Mundine could have thrown his right hand or jab, but just decided to hold back.
This fight was planned to go the distance so it would look like the fight was justified..
Many fans don't know boxing, but to the trained eye, one could obviously see it.
Or what about the times that Mundine tapped Solimon with the softest body punches when they were on the inside..
This was probably Nasser's plan from the outset.
Make it look like a competitive fight. They knew solimon was no match, judging by their 2nd fight. Didn't you see the way mundine kept coming forward with his hands up , like it was a sparring match.
What about those futile combo's that Solimon was throwing , and Mundine just blocked them, because he couldn't hurt Mundine.
Conclusion: Mundine didn't fight last night, he sparred.
Eshays! 05-29-2008, 05:40 AM Mundine always fights like that, his gun shy & he throws very poor combinations. Look at the soliman second fight it took him 9 rounds to put him away after he was in disneyland after the second, thats not because he was trying to make it look competitive(winning the vacant world title was up stake) it was because he simpley couldnt throw the punches for the situation
Salty 05-29-2008, 05:57 AM yeah he is one shocking combination puncher thats for sure, only thing going for him is his handspeed which will leave as he gets older. His window is surely closing fast.

but couldn't you see the major difference at how he fought last night and the way he fought in their 2nd fight.
HUGE HUGE difference.
Last night , it was a totally different Anthony Mundine fighting.
Definitely didn't look like his usual sharp self.
aussieboxer2320 05-29-2008, 06:22 AM mundine is gun shy, he knows soliman, although overmagched, is a tricky and durable fighter who can be dangerous. he probably didnt want to walk into one of those loopy , awkward shots sam throws
like the majority of what people said, and what i said in my previous post, mundine is gunshy. hes too scared to throw combinations. yesterday just really confirmed it. he basically has no chance of beating any top top 10 level fighters, and im a mundine fan. he will never have to balls to throw combinations so fact is he will never fight a top level opponent.

well, if thats how Mundine really fights, then he has absolutely no hope of beating anybody, because that performance last night was abysmal, compared to his last fight with Solimon where he schooled him.

Maybe in the end all it was, was a luckey punch??? he only really landed the one hard hit in the second
But still did you see solimans trainer carrying, wot a fuking nitwitt - no way in hell was soliman anywhere near winning that fight & to claim they were robbed blind makes them look like very poor losers

well i kina feel sorry for the both, since 3 times they have been on the wrong end of the decision..
and a trainer will always be biased I think towards their fighter.
Anyway, this fight was a lot closer than the 2nd, and Solimon did have his moments in the fight, and that was probably where the trainer puts down ''the robbery'' down to, but Mundine did win this fight.
However, if that is how he really fights, then his career looks bleak.
Salty 05-30-2008, 07:11 AM Mundine will never fight a world class opponent and he knows it, getting too old now
aussieboxer2320 05-30-2008, 10:47 PM mundine needs to fight winky or pavlik this year, otherwise hes done, 32-33 is when your speed and reflexes start deteriorating so i think he has 2 or 3 fights max left at his peak

Your right! i also felt the same way when Mundine fought nader hamden, he wasnt unleashing, i felt Mundine just wasnt fighting 100% against hamden and could have knocked him out. (i dont if its because they're friends/muslim brothers?)
Against soliman, there were plenty of times where Mundine could drop the hammer and blast some right hands straight down the pipe, but he didnt. If Mundine was to come out and KO soliman it wouldnt have looked good, as Choc has beaten soliman 2 times already. Gotta give fans their moneys-worth.
You will see some very impressive fights from mundine soon, when he finally lands a big US fight.

Thats exactly right.Mundine definitely held back..Definitely..There were some many times where Solimon was there to be hit its not funny, and Mundine just stood there without throwing his lead right..

Anthony can get himself up for a big fight. AKA Green, Kessler.
Unlike other fighters, he can fight absolute tomato cans, and then fight a top elite fighter and be competitive.
Hopefull he gets a big name.

Mundine was always going to beat green and Kessler does not prove that he gets up for big fights, he was beaten... when mundine makes his next fight announcement it will be another tomato can or some ex champ so over the hill he may as well put a job application in at maccas.

Its pretty sad.
Its not like he hasn't gone looking for the big fights.
but he definetely should look for the medium sized fights more.
Spinks would be willing to fight Mundine, same goes for others.
Anyway im sick of talking about him.
Ult,
Salty 06-03-2008, 06:26 AM I didn't think you'd ever get sick of it, but me too.
