View Full Version : If you were in the military...
vB Martin 10-29-2004, 09:52 PM Let's suppose you were in the military for one moment, and you had to elect a leader with one of the following war records, who would you choose?
Candidate A:
Volunteered for the military even though he could have used family money and political connections to avoid having to serve.
Further volunteered for a more dangerous mission than the one he was assigned.
Has experienced the horrors of war and has both inflicted and witnessed the damage it causes to both the enemy and his comrades in arms. Understands that war is sometimes necessary, but would rather explore diplomatic channels before making the decision to send young boys and girls around the world to die and suffer the psychological trauma war always inflicts on its survivors.
Candidate B:
Used family connections to avoid having to serve in a line unit, instead settling for a stateside position.
Used more family connection to get assigned to a squadron flying airplanes that were unsuited for the theater of war in which we were fighting.
Used more family connections to get a "leave of absense" from his unit so he could campaign in another state.
Can produce no records showing he actually trained in that other state.
Skipped his flight physical but still managed to avoid being sent to a line unit in the conflict, regardless of the fact that others who did the same were sent to fight in that war.
Wore his flight jacket as if he were a real veteran, and regardless of the fact that he used connections to get out of the war, espoused at great length his belief in it and his hatred for those who opposed it.
Who would you rather have as your Commander in Chief?

I can't suppose that. I have no intention of volunteering my services as a hired killer for our terrorist government.

Sadly, you're of an age where you might not be given a choice, regardless of which candidate is elected.

I've been reading for months that a draft might be implemented. I wouldn't be at the top of their list, anyway.

...A draft is not coming you simple minded idiots!!! It's a scare tactic of the left. If a draft comes I will kiss 100% of both of your hairy asses. At least clean up the blemishes if it comes to that.
vB Martin 10-29-2004, 10:27 PM gee, i wonder who voted that they would follow a coward to war...
the draft is not a scare tactic of the left, it's been talked about by people on both sides of the fence as a definite possibility if we are to keep ourselves overextended as we are now.
In the current administration, draft boards have been remanned, and legislation has been both proposed and passed to raise the age, in case of a draft, to 34 rather than 25, and 44 in case of special skills, such as medical professionals, translators, computer experts.
I don't think there will be a draft regardless of which candidate is elected, but it's a looming possility regardless of who wins.
vB Martin 10-29-2004, 10:45 PM The more I think of it, the funnier it is. I will assume that you only voted for Candidate B because you didn't want egg on your face after seeing how ridiculous B's War record looks beside A's.
If I assume you are being truthful, I would have to think you're a "simple minded idiot", and I honestly don't want to think that about you.

.....It's a zero chance possibility. It will never happen in our lifetimes. We need to develop our technology a litte further so that all future conflict can be handled without putting our troops in harms way to the best of our ability. Advanced weapons systems and not increased troops are our best solutions. Drones of all types and smart bombs with the ultimate precision. Take our people out of Germany for a start. Then watch their economy go down the ****ter, as if it doesn't already suck.

But the economy is booming according to Bush! And pretty soon his export of jobs overseas will kick in and things will really be great in this country. I know it's so because I heard him say that the outsourcing of jobs was good for our economy!

...I was refering to Germany's economy
Dr.Depravity 10-30-2004, 01:17 AM vB, Have you ever been in the military? You probably dont have room calling anyone a coward.
vB Martin 10-30-2004, 01:22 AM Actually, I served in the Navy. There were no wars in my time. And you?
I did, however, grow up in Derry, in Northern Ireland. Perhaps you've heard of the street violence there? We moved to the US when I was 13.

well candidate B is winning
look like your little clever scheme is blowing up in your face vb
vB Martin 10-30-2004, 01:25 AM Actually, it's working out exactly as I knew it would. You just aren't smart enough to know when you make yourself look like an idiot.

You catholic, protestant or neither?
vB Martin 10-30-2004, 01:37 AM You catholic, protestant or neither?Raised Catholic. Now I have no religious affiliation.
Dr.Depravity 10-30-2004, 01:48 AM Raised Catholic. Now I have no religious affiliation.
Bad deal over there. Very simular to Isreal and Palestine. IMO both sides are in the wrong.
vB Martin 10-30-2004, 01:51 AM Mine, too. The IRA are nothing but pure terrorists. They try to put the face on that they are freedom fighters, but I have seen their actions close up and I know differently.
Perhaps in the beginning they were freedom fighters, but they are several generations into fighting just for the sake of fighting. The protestant majority in the North doesn't want to be "freed".
The British, for their part, say they are just protecting their citizens, but they seem more like they are trying to hold on to the last vestiges of their days as rulers of the world.
not a nice situation, though it definitely calmed down during the tech boom. That boom is dead, but I hope the people got used to not being violent.

Dr.Depravity 10-30-2004, 02:13 AM It will be brittans last stand. They're done in china. The falkan Island fiasco, seems that has been resolved for both countries. I wouldn't want to be of European accent living in South Africa right now. I think they will keep Northern Ireland at all cost. Ive never seen a country develope so many areas, just to loose them over time.

food for thought/not taken necessarily as fact, but a lot of interesting info :
http://www.bushdraft.com/proof.html
"the nation must be prepared to conduct a draft"
--Lewis C. Brodsky, director of public and congressional affairs with the Selective Service System
Many people have been wondering if our President has secret plans to reinstate the draft. This website will provide absolute proof that Bush is making plans to reinstate the draft by the middle of 2005.
In the last few months Bush has launched a recruiting drive for people to work on the draft boards around the country, the DefendAmerica government site posted an advert looking for volunteers, but when someone brought this to the attention of the press it was promptly removed, fueling rumours about the possibility of a draft.
Articles about the recruitment drive for draft board workers can be found here
