Harrison destroys Kebede!

WBO Featherweight champion Scott Harrison (23-2-1) made a successful third defense of his title tonight with a 59 second stoppage win over previously unbeaten Samuel Kebede (24-1) at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow. The 27-year-old champion dropped the Etheopian challenger twice in the opening minute and he failed to recover. Harrison dropped Kebede within the first 15 seconds with a short right to the top of the head but the challenger rose quickly albeit on unsteady legs. Indeed Harrison missed with a swinging right and Kebede fell backwards onto the ropes and he caught him with a left hook that saw Kebede fall forwards to the canvas. Although he beat referee Micky Vann's count for the second time when he asked him to walk forward his legs were too wobbly to continue and he stopped the fight. This was Harrison's quickest win of his career and he now seeks a unification match within the 126 pound division. Frank Warren confirmed that an introductory call to Bob Arum had been made about Harrison facing the winner of the upcoming Morales-Barrera match and a further possibility for 2005 may be a match with WBC champion Injin Chi. Harrison hopes to return to Glasgow in December for a voluntary defense of his title.
