UFC president Dana White is a huge Wanderlei Silva fan, but even White admits that it's do or die for time for Silva (31-8-1), who's lost three fights in a row and will face Keith Jardine in a few days at UFC 84.
“Wanderlei has lost three in a row,” White told thefightnetwork.com. “He’s one of these unique fighters who people just love to watch fight because of his mentality on fighting. Obviously, though, [he] has to get a win.”

Silva dropped his last fight in exciting fashion, losing a three round all out brawl against Chuck Liddell, but Silva can't settle for "exciting" if he wants to stick around according to White.

“This guy has to win some fights here to stay in the UFC and stay at the top of the 205-pound division.”

This warning comes at a time when the UFC has cut fighters for much less than a three fight losing streak, and though Silva is an exciting fighter and has big name appeal, he is not immune to being cut if he continues to lose; especially when you consider that the organization has been willing to part with other big name fighters such as Tim Sylvia.

In any event, Silva has a tough draw to work out the kinks in Jardine (13-3-1, 5-2 UFC) who defeated Liddell in his last fight at UFC 76.

i really think Dana is a secret investor in ProElite and Affliction because he seems to be doing everything possible to help them recruit talented fighters.

what an ass. Silva is one of the most exciting fighters in the history of MMA (THE most exciting in my opinion). he's the only fighter that personally intimidates me through the ****ing television set!
2 of those 3 losses weren't even in UFC. the loss he did have in UFC was still a damn great fight he put up. if Dana's dumb enough to threaten dropping him after only 1 recent loss in his organization then his shareholders better start sellin....

look at these exchanges! you hafta be stir ****ing crazy to tell someone "shape up or ship out" after that! if this were Silva's 1st fight and he came right outt've that reality show then he'd been guaranteed at least 4 more fights immediately.

Dana's just bankin on that show. don't get me wrong. it was a great idea from a business aspect and gave great exposure to MMA. but, if he keeps this up, then top fighters from around the world will continue to just sign with other organizations.

yeah its pretty crazy 2 cut the guy considering the fights he puts on, but i wouldn't worry 2 much about this one, Wanderlei won't just sit back like chuck did against jardine an get kicked repeatedly.
Wanderlei said he's lookin for the knock out of the night on saturday an is goin 2 go right after Jardine.

if silva loses and dana sends him packing, i will most certainly be convinced dana white is a complete jackass.

silva is a huge name fighter who is extremely exciting to watch. as it was said above, he only lost once in the ufc so far i think....and it was a great fight which made millions for the company. i hope this isnt true

anyway, i think silva will ko jardine rd 2.

How fast things change. Who knows, we could end up seeing Wanderlei Silva vs. Tito Ortiz this fall.... in Elite XC

Wanderlei has looked like crap against guys who have looked like crap, are you guys seriously surprised?

Hes had an amazing career but hes taken a lot of punishment, even if he gets cut hes a name any of those other organizations would be happy to snatch him up.

But I dont know how you guys can talk like he hasnt been getting his ass kicked and looking pretty bad.
