Luke.l.08 05-18-2008, 10:35 AM Im a 15 yr old boy and ive been going boxing for about 3 months now! i thik i may be having my first fight in about 3 months time. i go boxing every tuesday and thursday and im gonna start going gym on a wednesday.
Does anyone have any exercices or workouts that i can do at home in my spare time to improve my strength/stamina?
jberg 05-18-2008, 10:38 AM skipping for stamina, press-ups, heavybag for strength. remember, most boxers rarely use dumbells because having high mass of muscles is counterproductive

I do low weights just to get my muscles to tierd :lol1: Just so its less notivable in a fight (or sparring as is the case for me atm)
Tyson123 05-18-2008, 11:08 AM Well i'm 14, i'm lifting wieghts until i turn 15 then i'm going to stop probably for the rest of my life.
sukhenkoy 05-18-2008, 12:18 PM Skipping helps a lot for stamina. Burpees also.
What I do at home is jump rope, arm rotations, a lot of ab work, squats (no weight, but a lot of repetitions, pushups, shadowboxing, and pullups.
Good luck on your fight.
jberg 05-18-2008, 04:08 PM lol, you choose the year 14-15 to lift weights and then not do it again.
are you trying to stunt growth?
ive been lifting lightly for a year or so, but its infrequent and light weight. what you want to do is shadow box with 2kgs and stuff.
Tyson123 05-18-2008, 04:19 PM Yeah, I really want to gain weight. And i want to be 150 by the time i turn 15 in December. Im 125-130 right now.
But anyways you should skip rope to build stamina, and use heavy bag for strength.
Luke.l.08 05-18-2008, 04:22 PM thanks for tha help

i do 200 crunches/bicycle crunches/ whatever every 3 days, to give them time to recover
weight train (shoulders, triceps, chest, biceps and weighted squats) about twice a week
and do regular press ups, dips etc and run at gym
Queensdawg 05-18-2008, 10:35 PM im waiting for punchdrunk to blow you fools up..
what boxers do you know that dont use dumbells??
-snatches
-pushpress
-db squats
-db lunges
-db squat and press
the list goes on and on.. if you want some serious info, you must do some reading.. **** it. not some, alot!
PM me if you want a really good book that intergrates DB movements and bodyweight exercises..
weights when used properly increase speed and explosiveness. period
