A gym would be a great place to get some tips.

(assuming that you havent checked out any gyms yet)

This site!!!!

This site is a great place for tips. Fellow boxers and trainers all frequent this place. One tip though, use the search feature because you'll probably find that most things you want to ask about have already been discussed before.

Another great site is www.rossboxing.com he also has books on his site which you could check out.

There's a book called Explosive Punching:Aggressive Defence by Jack Dempsey. Supposedly it's the greatest book on boxing ever written. It's been out of print since the 70s I think. It was written in the 50s. Haven't read it yet but good luck trying to find it.

Joe Frazier's Box Like the Pros is a good read, and I found it very useful.

I've got two books;

"Boxing Training, Skills and Techniques"

and

"Fighting Fit, Boxing fitness"

Both are reasonably good but they are basic. I think what they're best for is helping you remember the stuff off the top of your head. The stuff contained in them is quite basic. I reckon most of the mainstream books on boxing are designed more for the people who don't want to go into a gym and want to "boxercise" because the stuff in there is often quite basic, like telling you handwraps are important and how to do them which is all very well but 2 minutes in a boxing gym and you'll know this for yourself because a coach would have shown you. This forum is probably better than any book because you can ask direct questions and you'll get responses usually within the hour.

Title boxing videos/dvds whatever
they are specific to each thing, e.g. attacking from angles, body punching, counters, basics obvs, combinations etc

Dude just join the nearest gym, the trainers will help u from the beginning to advance techniques later on. Maybe look up youtube videos (a good site would be rossboxing.com). And lastly watch boxing on tele and analyse wat u see from the pros themselves.

From my experience books hasnt helped me that much and the best way to learn is to just join up to a gym and also visual study.

Anyways good luck man ;)
