Yeah, I'm sure this investigation will be thorough and just. Like the 9/11 Commission.

Actually, no one knows how much Cheney gets from Halliburton per year. His deal is called "deferred comp", and is estimated to be between $50-100k per year. This is the first time I've heard a figure as high as $175k. Where did you source that?

The money Cheney gets from Haliburton is like vB says, deferred payment, which means that he got his salary that he ALREADY EARNED deferred so he wouldnt have to pay as much in taxes on it. This is a common practice of high level execs. Cheney is not on the Haliburton payroll what so ever and does not benefit from anything the company does including stock price. Also, I hear that this Haliburton investigation does not include the White House.

I heard that figure of 175k/yr from Al Franken which is conservative when compared to CBS saying it could be as much as up to a million (not per yr)
Even factcheck.org has it at 100k/yr and despite what conservatives say they are biased!
So, I took the figure in the middle

Or until the tax cuts went through.....
Your right though, he "earned" (cough, hut hum) while he had the ceo position. How convienent though that the no bid contracts ended up at halliburton though and why no-bid? Why not put them out to bid to get the best price? That's the real issue?
If Kerry is elected, I wonder where Cheney will go and what he'll do? If Kerry is elected, anyone, wanna bet that he doesn't go back to halliburton? I'll give you 2-1 odds that he does.

I agree that they probably got some special treatment because of the relationship, but the fact of the matter is that there just isnt very many companies outside of Haliburton that could do the job.

Here is the transcript of the show I saw mentioning the 175K figure. Almost all the way at the bottom.
