As i said whats the biggest rivarly in english football, i saw a poster say hatton should have fought at old trafford as it has a bigger capacity etc and another person said it shouldent be mentioned in the same sentence, do united and city really hate each other that much???? i mean hattons brother supports united, ive always thought that united and liverpool have a bigger hatred towards each other than united and city, or liverpool and everton, got me thinking what is the biggest rivalry in english football????

I would have to say imo its astonvilla vrs birmingham city, just from the games ive seen and the hooligan videos of their teams going at it. probaly give a shout to westham millwall as well.

What use all reckon????

villa v birmingham is pretty dam big (not just cus im a villa fan). however you never see it mentioned normally as one of the big derbys on tv. midlands never seems a popular place with the media

celtic and rangers is massive as well obviously, and i guess united liverpool but is that really a derby??

United Arsenal is a competitive rivalry that has only come big in the last 5 - 10 years, it's more to with the managers getting one over the other than the fans.

Citeh fans see United as their biggest rivalry, whilst United see Liverpool as their main rival.
United and Liverpool in terms of distance, club size, history, challenges for trophies is the biggest rivalry, followed by Villa - Birmingham, there is pure hatred there.

I made the comment about Ricky Hatton and Old Trafford. Someone suggested Hatton fighting at Old Trafford, Hatton being the City fan that he is, season ticket holder, ring entrance music is blue moon, always showing his colours somehow in a fight, do you really think he'd want to come out to Old Trafford? Doubt it.

Leeds v Man U was pretty fierce.

Chelsea v Spurs is another intense game, both fans hate each other.

But the biggest in England is definitely United v Liverpool

Closely followed by Emmerdale - Hollyoaks.

Globally though it's got to be Neighbours - Home & Away.

Yeah i agree always fought use were the biggest rivarly, i remember watching a game of yours a few years ago, youse were fighting in the stands, fans were running on the park etc, and ive seen a right good few hooligan vidoes of your firms having after the game, dont really pay much attention to english football tbh unless i have money on the game, but i do enjoy watching your games if its on.

yep I would agree, their is no friendly banter at all between the two areas, and it's not just about football, It stems back to the shipbuilding days of the Tyne and the Wear, Mackems stealing jobs on the tyne, which is partly to do with the name Mackem derogatory term coined but the Tyneside folk to describe the people from Sunderland.

Its hard to gauge:

Liverpool v Man U is huge. Any of the inner city rivalries like Liverpool v Everton but having lived in the North East I would say pure hatred goes to Newcastle v Sunderland.

yeah my cousin got banned from villa park for running on the pitch, that was the game when dublin got sent off for headbutting robbie savage

i went to a pre-season friendly about 10 years ago between villa and blues and their was massive rioting then as well, pretty scared cus I was only 13. Personally I think its ridiculous behaviour but there's serious dislike between the two sets of fans

lol on a much smaller scale hartlepool v darlo is pretty intense. me and me mate drove through at the end of last season when hartlepool beat darlo 3 nil and we got stuck in a riot haha. it was funny as **** really watching all this unfold from the safety of my car but i reckon there would of been hell on if they knew i was a hartlepool lad.

Manchester United-Liverpool for me (Am biased), City-Uniteds rivalry is very big, but more important (As in the highlight of the season) for City fans, purely because they are kind of viewed as a laughing stock now to United fans.

Funny how you view us as a laughing stock considering most of our fans are loyal and mancunian yet yours spit their dummies out and set up a run away team. It's united fans who are considered the laughing stock in manchester

Nobody has mentioned the biggest one yet...The Blackcountry derby. Always kicks off; dunno if anyone saw the playoffs last season and the pitch invasion at the hawthorns but that was scary **** I tell ya. Also mentions for Burnley - Blackburn, Villa - B'ham, Pompey - Southampton, Luton - Watford, Derby - Forest, Millwall - West Ham, Man u - Leeds and Cardiff - Swansea.
