View Full Version : Light Shadow Test.
!! Shawn 05-08-2008, 11:33 PM Some light shadow boxing. This is not here for advice or people to say "keep your hands up more". This is a light shadow boxing round from me to you. I tried some lateral movement, but the rug started slipping on the hardwood. I filmed this mainly as a test to see how well my digital camera recorded video. I think it did pretty well so I am going to take it into the gym tomorrow morning and record some of my workout.
Yes, those are my new IMF tech gloves sitting on the table.

You don't step in with your jabs, your uppercuts aren't even uppercuts, and your hooks look half-assed.
There's your critique.

Perhaps you do not understand the concept of light shadow boxing. Its one of those things you do when your muscles are COLD.
All of my punches are half assed, that is the point of light shadow boxing, to warm up and not pull any muscles.
I didn't extend half my jabs. I didn't get under my uppercuts. I didn't bring my elbow up on my hooks. I didn't fully turn my right hands. See the pattern?
Salty 05-09-2008, 01:43 AM why show a video of it then?
!! Shawn 05-09-2008, 02:10 AM why show a video of it then?
The real question is why not?
jberg 05-09-2008, 02:13 AM another pointless thread from shawn.
wouldnt have been pointless if you were willing to accept critique however, so ill give you some.
looks like your in decent shape.
all ill say is why the **** are your hands moving up and down when your practicing rolling and slipping? theres no point putting your hands down and up. also, keep your hands in fists between shots
good luck
twist the front foot for hooks

That is incorrect. You want your hands open unless you are punching. And Open hand can be used for catching and parrying more effectively. It is also faster, and it allows you to snug the glove up close to your face when you block punches.
This is the reason I did not ask for critique, I have FAR more boxing experience and knowledge than the majority of people on this forum. It is not an ego thing, it is a simple fact.
Putting my hands down on my hip allows for faster head movement. If you are going to drop your hands it is wise to drop them all the way and not half ass it. With your hands down, head speed is essential.
If you are talking about the choo-choo motion I was doing when rocking back and forth, that is the Walcott shuffle.
Hands should be kept moving and feinting as should the head.
Despite what you might think, I do know what I am doing.
I will be recording my pad work tomorrow.
verbz 05-09-2008, 04:04 AM bro wots da point of postin a vid of urself and not bein able 2 take criticism. people r obviously gonna look and point out fings u need 2 improve on, fings dat u obviously aint clockin. but instead u wanna argue and justify against every bit of criticism. do u do dat at ur gym?

Pretty sure I've been boxing for close to four years now and I've seen kids a month or two in who "warm up" looking better than you.
So **** you for posting stupid bull****.
DA1CATAS 05-09-2008, 09:54 AM lOL.. IM POSTING A SECTION OF MY PADWORK SOON.. i'M SURE IT'LL KILL YOUR EXPERIENCED PAD WORK...

Thats fine, that is how I warm up, and I don't really care if you see kids that have been boxing for 3 months that "look" better than me.
Landon S 05-09-2008, 01:03 PM how long have you been boxing? I'll post a positive, your head movement is quick. But why 'light' shadowbox and do things wrong if you can do them right? Id just slow it down if I were worried about pulling anything (but thats just me)

Thank you for proving my point.
Its pretty arogant of you to post a video but then say "no one can critisize me cause i know more than anyone else here" without prooving that.
What did you expect?
jberg 05-10-2008, 09:28 AM shawn, im really beginning to dislike you.
you post vids, but cant take criticism.
i think you need to make a call; post vids and accept the comments, not fight them. or dont post vids.
