I like songs without 3 or 4 hooks, one is enough, possibly two. I find so many hooks dumb for some reason. Or if there are three, I like the DJ Premier **** where it just scratches lines from other songs. Well???

Depends on the song. Hooks written well can hold the song together. Hooks that are garbage can ruin an entire song.

I personally love extended hooks. California Love was the first of its kind..Then Cash Money/ Mannie Fresh took it to another level..it has to be right tho..

As long as it flows. You can tell when it's forced. I do like the Premo scratches as a substitute.

There's only a few who can pull off the scratch-cut but Premo is head and shoulders above. DJ Alamo from Brand Nubian is also a favourite.

It's also worth mentioning that one of the greatest rap songs of all time only featured one verse, no hook. Paid in Full. That's why Rakim is the greatest.
