Hey david you are not built for boxing dude. You really are strong looking and you look tuff because your built but honestly in your weight class you will get ripped apart by any tall skinny dudes boxing isnt a wrestling match. Your muscles will hinder your movement and cause you to tire and even though i doubt youd be easy to knock out you will get torn up by points. You are however built for wrestling or bodybuilding or MMA. But dude id give up boxing.

David no offense but youd get raped in a boxing ring your just to muscle bound do you see any boxers who look like you i dont. The only muscle bound boxers are jeff lacy and tyson and they are just freaks of nature. Loose the muscle or dont box because your just gonna get hurt. Actually whatever dude do what you want but dont cry to me when we get in the ring and i knock you out flat because you cant throw punches due to your muscles which look rediculous in proportion to your body lol

lol.... it doesnt mean he cant box... it just means he needs to stop lifting and JUST do bag work to re-train his arms cardiovascularly, which... will probably be very hard to do mentally being it looks like he worked hard to get there....

hahah thx reedickyaluss, first as i have said in posts before my trainer its pretty old and i am from mexico so its all about old school training with him he is not really a fan of my old bodybuilding days hahaha, and i have dropped a ton of weight since i started boxing which was a couple of years ago, in my bodybuidling days i was around 190 right now i am only 160,

and yeah mentally it was tough because it took me like 6 years to gain all that weight but i made up my mind a long time ago and now its not such an issue.

But i dont think i am that bad at boxing thats why i train so ****ing hard hahaha if i learned something from bodybuilding its to work all out and not surrender, and i been through some rough diets before so i know how to get myself in shape.

All said i think i can do really well in boxing its all about your mindset :) and thaultimate i do accept your challenge if u want to make me cry hahaha its ok i do like pain hahahaha but you have to come to mexico to fight i dont really have much money to go to the US right now

Ok since your a respectable person it seems i was just messing with you im sure youd be a good boxer. If you were dedicated enough to get your body to be in shape like you were you prolly have a good work ethic and will prolly become a good boxer. If you can make 152 you should be alright. Good luck

:) well sure i am not so big anymore but i think i am in pretty good shape for 160 i have a tournament in two weeks called torneo de barrios its a state championship from nuevo leon , i ll try to get a cam from a friend or someone it would be cool to post it here.

Hahahaha and yeah i was pretty big at 190 i feel weird now i was used to being just big, but i feel much more comfortable with this body,

That used to be my old profile when i was a bodybuilder if somebody wants to check it out and see i am not lying :) but its all about boxing now, considering that my coach has the plan to turn me pro next year ( if i do well in my next 2 torunaments )

hahaha no i didnt use anything Illegal being the key word, i actually competed in tested competitions, but i did use every supplement out there specially because i was being sponsored by musclemania and they used to pay all my supplements and foods that i needed, i used to live in the US back then, when i came back to mexico some years ago i lost contact with them so i had to pay everything by myself
which i couldnt do, and eventually lost interest in bodybuilding (too much sacrifice and you dont really get any kind of recognition specially here in mexico)

im 6'2 weight 158 pounds and have to say that i would love to fight someone built like you. You wouldnt get close to me and i would pretty much jab you to death. If you wanna box you really need to drop a lot of weight otherwise as people have said you would get seriously hurt!

David i remember seeing you on the bodybuilding.com forums a while back and being very impressed. i thought you'd be in the olympia, or at least the arnold, a few years down the road. i had no clue you went into boxing, but good luck with it. i'm curious to see how that works out for you.

wow too much hating on these forums hey lukey i am sure you are a good boxer i try not to disrespect my fellow boxers, but i have to say you are being naive, do you really think i wouldnt get close to you at all? you can move and have a good jab but unless you are a really boxing genius i will close the gap sooner or later, think a little i have fought and sparred many many many tall guys i am really getting used to it, why?

because most of my opposition its taller than me, you are the one that would be on unknown terrain, plus my reach isnt that short i am sure yours its better but underestimating other guys reach its a common mistake against short fighters.

Still as i have said before i am still in pretty good shape but i am not like i used to be in my bodybuilding days.

well thought i will give you my point of view but u can think whatever u want

mamoroso i thought the same but i been boxing for quite a while now and i have done pretty well so far many things caused me to leave bodybuilding long story haha, i am fighting amateur but my coach does plan to turn me pro next year ( if i do well in the next 2 tournaments )

tHAT IS VERY GOOD.. THE PRO PART.. WHAT WEIGHT CLASS ARE YOU IN?

PROS ARE SORTA WEAK AT THE MOMENT I THINK... NO HUGE GUYS BESIDES MIRANDA...MAYBE BERTO...KESSLER, PAVLIK, AND HAYE... TO BE SCARED OF IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL BOXING. (JUST OFF THE TOP)

i wasnt trying to be disrespectful at all. and i apoligise if it sounded that way. Jst as people say you dont see many people your size in the gym. Duno if its different in the US but in my gym when people are making weight they are skinny with very little muscle. Only two or three small stocky people. A couple of people who were fairly big joined and they realy realy struggled. when sparring with them they did on first round closing the gap and gettin inside but after that you could see them losing heart as they had to take 6-7 shots to land one!!!

Whats your record in the amateurs??

I've gotta say that sounded pretty disrespectful to me.

Anyway, good luck with the tournaments David, hope it all goes well for you. You're clearly extremely dedicated to the sport, and I hope you go out there and do it for the smaller guys!!

As for the guy with the pic of GSP as his avatar, I truly hope you and a life meet up some time soon. You really could do with one asap.

Some of you people giving David a hard time should spend less time on the computer and more time eating a sandwich. David was being nothing but respectful even with the few of you hating on him. Sounds to me like maybe you guys shoudl shut up, David is going pro in a year and you guys probably wont ever make it. Sounds like hes a better boxer than you guys put together. Would probably kick your asses at the same time.

And for the record, big muscle do not make you immobile and slow. Why do you guys think pepole like Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher are so fast? Squats, power cleans, and deadlifts will make you bigger and faster than you have ever been in your life.

Go back to school, learn to write, and pick up a book for once. Maybe you wont sound so stupid next time you post.

ermm big muscles DO make you slow. being stocky is ok in boxing, you can still be quick and adapt to a peek a boo style but being big and muscular in physique is more suited to a sport like wrestling where strength is paramount. boxing is about being lean and slim, while maintaining power.

This is so stupid i dont even know where to start.

Big muscles do not make you slow. Ask ANY strength coach on the planet this quesion and he will tell you otherwise. Only old school boxing coachs and pepole who know jack **** would say this. Look at the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. etc. etc. GO check out some olympic lifting videos, adn tell me those guys are slow.

"being big and muscular in physique is more suited to a sport like wrestling"
Physique has NOTHING to do with any of it. Someone can be big and slow, or big and extremely fast like a Ray Lewis or Brain Urlacher. If you are worried about your physique, maybe YOU should be the bodybuilder.

Look at Holyfiend, Miranda or Andre Berto. Those guys have tons of muscles and are far from slow.

"boxing is about being lean and slim, while maintaining power"
Really? I thought boxing was about hitting people? Seems to me you can be lean, MUSCULAR(not slim) and have power.

Go pick up a book, maybe you wont be so stupid after you read it.

aussieboxer2320
05-12-2008, 12:36 AM
oh shut up. ill bet your not even a competitive boxer. berto and miranda are slow for a start. i didnt mean boxing was all about being lean, i meant physique wise, you should aim to be lean and strong in boxing. olynpic lifters might be fast at lifting, but get those guys to throw a punch and i bet they would be slow.

codysweet02
05-12-2008, 02:11 PM
You're right, im not a competitive boxer. But that has nothing to do with it. Berto is absolutley not slow. He might not be Zab Judah fast, but how could you say he was slow?

"you should aim to be lean and strong in boxing"
You mean like this OLYMPIC lifter?

<img src="http://stronglifts.com/wp-content/uploads/gain-weight-skinny-guys.jpg" alt="Olympic Lifter" />

"olynpic lifters might be fast at lifting, but get those guys to throw a punch and i bet they would be slow. "

Olympic lifters have been charted as having some of the highest vertical jumps of any athletes around. This is DIRECTLY related to speed, power, and explosiveness. If you think othewise maybe you need to read two books.

05-14-2008, 03:01 PM
yeah but thats a stupid comparison were talking about people the size of david who has much more muscle mass than that weight lifter and andre berto put together!!!

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/photo/showgallery.php?ppuser=196086&cat=500

his photos are there to see!! were not talkin about your average weight lifter this guy is massive in turn making him slower than me/ your usual boxer. Being skinny doesnt make your fast either though just look at Paul Williams but being huge makes you cumbersome and sometimes slow i.e. Jeff Lacey, Nikolai Valuev and in terms of muscle mass this david kid has three times the muscle mass of them too.

i personally think it looks a tad silly also but thats only my opinion and who am i to say that.

Anyway he must be a good boxer because hes turnin pro without any amateur fights because he hasnt answered my question!!

..David..
05-15-2008, 01:53 AM
Yes i WAS much bigger before ok, lol you dont seem to understand that i am not like that anymore, its almost impossible to do such an activity like boxing and at the same time maintain a competitive bodybuilding form.

and hahaha cmon i do have amateur fights but to tell the truth i dont want to post my record in these forums, too many haters and fake fights threads and things like that, but i do have amateur fights, the plans of turning pro are for the future and this are my coaches plan, and of course i am ok with that, because here in mexico amateur boxing , well its not a waste of time but its not so helpful as in other countries, amateur boxing here doesnt have any kind of coverage or support from the media so its no use being in the amateur ranks for long, that why most latin fighters turn pro so young. But as i said thats the plan for next year, that means i am going to be almost 2 years fighting amateur, thats enough for me.
