I assume that's CHUCK Berry. I don't know of even the intermediate level guitarist that under-rates him. He was a
MAJOR innovator.

Lindsay and Prince.......eh!!! Not so impressive really.

Underated? I had no idea that Lindsey B. and Prince were ever "rated" as guitarists.

They are rated mostly by people that also rate Ace Frehley.

It depends. If you mean underrated because they are unknown, then most jazz guitar players are. Incredible guys like Al Dimeola or Eric Johnson are overlooked and replaced by true jackasses like the Blink 182 guy or the Linkin Park dumbass. I appreciate good musicianship and I listen to guitar players of all genres. By the way, Prince is a tremendous guitar player, composer, and overall musician. Anyone who disagrees simply has no clue. Prince is one of the most prolific artists ever and if someone thnks he ain't, it's because they've only heard Prince in the 90's and 2000's.

As a professional musician of over 40 years, I think I have a clue. Prince doesn't do it for me. I hear nothing innovative in his playing.
I also don't think that you can call Al or Eric under-rated.......people who know, rate them very highly. It's why I didn't mention Lonnie Mack as under-rated. You may have never heard of him but the Clapton's, Robert Cray's, Stevie Ray's of the world gave him tons of credit.
If the best bow to you, I don't see how the term "under-rated" can apply.

Opinions anyway. To me Prince is one of the best composers ever and a solid guitar player. You also wrote that those who know, don't underrate Dimeola. Of course, I did not say their skill was underrated. I wrote that they are not as recognized as they should be.

Prince is weird like that. He can put out 2 albums with next to no guitar. Then like he did at the hall of fame, play guitar like you never knew he could.

Prince is no Al Dimeola. Also, Al D is also very technically sound but his music lacks any emotional merit. Al D is a scales man, rippin' of a millions notes a second and we're supposed to be impressed? Give me SlowHand any day, and forget about Prince.

Prince is so versatile. He can play great POP and Disco like he did on albums like Dirty Mind, Controversy, and 1999. Then he blew me away with his excellent album, The Rainbow Children, combining Pop, Funk, and Jazz to create a true underrated masterpiece.

When it comes to metal guitar players, I like George Lynch, Alex Skolnick(who now switched to Jazz), and my god Yngwie Malmsteen(the king of neo classical metal). Trey Azagtoth of Morbid Angel is very technical too and Chuck Schuldiner(R.I.P.) of Death was in my opinion the best heavy music composer there was up until his death in 2001.

First of all I really don't see how anyone can call Chuck berry, Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page underrated.

Secondly, Prince is indeed underrated.

I would also call Frank Zappa underrated. The guy was so incredibly versatile that his guitar playing aften went unnoticed. Listen to his "Shut up and play yer Guitar" stuff and you'll see what I mean.

The only reason I put Chuck on the list is because I seldom hear him mentioned when people talk about guitarist. Did anybody see film of him "teaching" kieth richards? Its was some funny ****.

Frank Zappa is probably the most versatile composer of the last century. He was also very prolific and his disciples are the super talented Mike Keneally and virtuoso Steve Vai.

Yeah, isaw that documentry. Chuck dont take no ****! lol

I think Prince is a great guitarist. I dont know how he rates to all these other guys iv never heard of, but when he chooses to play, he kicks ass.

I think there guitarists who just know how to make it sound graet, not play it as fast as they can. Iommi. He aint underrated, but is worth a mention. And Cobain.

Mayorga. Head of stone, good hand speed, very high psycho factor.

Would probably note the biggest guy in the crowd and head straight for him. Big guy goes down and the smaller guys don't feel so tough. Mayorga doesn't think about all this though and and just moves through the crowd. Guys start to run, Mayorga in pursuit, to finish what they started.
