View Full Version : Hendry suffers first session whitwash
-CANE- 05-02-2008, 07:42 AM Ronnie O'Sullivan produced a snooker masterclass and won all 8 frames of the second session in his semi-final against 7 time world champion Stephen Hendry to take a 12-4 lead and leave Hendry shellshocked.
O'Sullivan has now won 11 frames on the spin and looking in irrestible form.
Bang goes my £10 bet on Hendry.:nonono:
LOL - I just noticed I put whitwash in the title but you know what I mean.

I wouldnt say its a snooker master class at all. Hendy is simply playing **** and Ronnie is taking every chance given to him. Most of the time Hendry has been on the table first, only for him to miss and then Ronnie clear up.

Thats what the teletext said, haven't seen it yet and am waiting for it to come on at half one.
They said Hendry had missed a few but Ronnie has racked up some big breaks, but I agree if Hendry was playing as best he could then it wouldn't be that score.

I've seen every single shot since 10am. Ronnie is playing really well but only 2 or 3 times has he racked up big breaks. for atleast 4 of the frames hendry has been on the table first and missed only for Ronnie to come in and take the frame. It's clear to see hendry is far from his best though.

If anyone can come back then it's Hendry, even a past the best one. Remember that final against White when he was dead and buried and won a stupid amount of frames on the trot to win 18-17.
Rocky Katsidis 05-02-2008, 08:07 AM Hendry could have been leading from yesterday but ****ed it up, some of the mistakes he made were amatuer ****, i hear he made alot of mistakes again today **** him he dont deserve it. **** ronnie as well,a hope ali carter wins it:banana:

I dont remember that but he is more than capable of coming back. He is after all, The greatest of all time.
Did anyone hear that comment from Virgo in this match?
Willie Thorn asked Virgo what Hendry needs to do to win, Virgo replied by saying he "needs to wet his tip". You could then hear Willie Thorn laughing just off mic. Classic, I wonder if they had a bet at the start where they had to slide that comment in under the radar??
col Blake 05-02-2008, 12:20 PM Ronnie O'Sullivan I ****in hate him, smug twat, If he gets beat he throws his toys out the pram, " I'm going to quite I hate snooker, " give me a glass of warm water my hands are cold, my dads in gaol you know, I have manic depression please look at me, what a tosspot.

TommyGunn. 05-02-2008, 01:53 PM Hendry has missed some pots but when Ronnie has got in he's hardly looked like missing.
Fair play to the Rocket, i thought Hendry was going to win this one.

TommyGunn. 05-02-2008, 04:00 PM My old man used to play pool with her husband, he's a pro and he's called Ross Mcinnes. She used to go to all the pool events with them in the late 90's and get plastered on Baccardi and Coke.
She is ****able though. :fing02:
I missed your bet bro, i only have 1000 anyway.

Hendry is 39 and already got 7 titles under his belt, well done to Ronnie but this isn't exactly Hendry at his best
The Punchbag 05-02-2008, 04:43 PM Hendry didn't play that well but credit to Ronnie for winning 16 of the last 18 frames, that's the consistancy that he so often lacks.
Chunk. 05-02-2008, 05:09 PM When Ronnie's game, he's unbeatable.
Best ever IMO.

Yeah, semi-finals, and still ranked in the top ten. WHY THE **** SHOULD HE RETIRE????
If he hadn't met Ronnie in such great form he would've won the tourney. This year he was better than Higgins, Williams, Ding, Ebdon, Dott, Docherty etc etc. You saying all these should retire as well???
Sorry if I sound like I'm attacking you, but seriously, you are surely a moron for spouting such drivel.

Because hes past his best, he will never win another tournement again, the mistakes he was making were the stuff that amatuer players would make, he cant compete with the likes of ronnie osuilivan anymore he was 33/1 at the start nobody gave him a chance, for a while their he looked like he was rolling back the years but in the end he showed he was done. he could carry on and be like white and davis but hes better off out it.
What kind of poof watches snooker?

Dont be silly.
denboy 05-06-2008, 05:47 PM I don't understant how can you be past your prime in snooker? It isn't exactly physically demanding sport, I just think the standards are higher nowadays.
mickeyb 05-06-2008, 05:54 PM I don't understant how can you be past your prime in snooker? It isn't exactly physically demanding sport, I just think the standards are higher nowadays.
Mentally obviously. You can peak.
You can peak with the amount of dedication, the effort. You can get stuck in a rutt. Other things naturally take priority...lets face it... chasing the World Championship is always going to be easier than going for it a 3rd time.
What do you do when you've won everything. You've got everything you've dedicated your life too... it'll be more difficult when you've achieved everything.
Like Rocky when he needed to regain the eye of the tiger... haha
BESIDES...Snooker is physically demanding. Although not harsh on the limbs, it can be very exhausting and stressfull. The commonatators made the point regularly - Ali Carter was fatigued through the days and days and hundred frames he'd played. The adrenaline, lack of sleep and nervous energy. Maintaining concentration. The difference between Carter and Ronny...was Ronny had obviously been there many times before, whilst this was Ali's first ranking final.
