View Full Version : Civil Debate
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 10:35 PM I know I have been guilty of personal attacks on posters and candidates in this ongoing politcal debate. But I am willing to put that aside. Beat my sword into a plowshare and engage in a civil, fact based debate with anyone on the other side of the political spectrum. It should be obvious where I stand....if it isn't already, I am going for Kerry.
Now if I retort to a post or dissect a point. Don't get defensive or accuse me of attacking your opinion. This is SUPPOSED to be a debate. Expect give and take.
Okay, these rules fair? Any takers?
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 11:11 PM One thing that is almost impossible to find.....an OBJECTIVE source for official military records and memos for both candidates.
I hope we can agree that findlaw.com is objective.

Neuraxis 10-28-2004, 11:12 PM Eh don't count on it. Trial lawyers are notoriously liberal.
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 11:15 PM Its not a site for trial lawyers. It is a database for legal information.

And who runs the site?
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 11:22 PM http://company.findlaw.com/team.html
These people.
Most of them appear to be Law School Graduates one is a member of the Bar.
The CEO is actually a Techie who worked in a lawfirm.
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 11:25 PM Either way, the documents provided have US Mil. letterhead at least. The ones that can't be confirmed are highlighted.
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 11:25 PM Ah ****. Sleepy. Going to bed.

These people.
You could have saved me some time by just saying trial lawyers so I wouldn't have had to click on the link. That would be like me claiming that this site isn't biased.

Um you obviously did not read the backgrounds of the people there.
It doesn't say ANY OF THEM worked as lawyers. I mean the Bush Family Lawyers are trial lawyers too. Are you going to accuse them of being liberal?
If you don't see this source as objective, then post a source for the records you think is.

LOL! good post
LuKahnLi 10-29-2004, 12:02 AM hehehe.
Okay. But seriously. I am trying to see if we can raise the level of this discussion.
I really have to go to sleep now. I hope this topic is still around in the morning.
vB Martin 10-29-2004, 12:28 AM It's impossible to raise the level of discussion when you're dealing with people who can only cite Fox News as a source. Raisingt he level of discussion would need the ability to think for yourself on both sides of the coin.

right and you can give us a non-partisan website. whatever. its one or the other. your side or ours. its useless to argue. some are enlightened and others are not. it never ends. even when this election is over, four years from now, we will still try to prove what we beleive in. hopefully we will all be in a better place. be it your guy or mine. vB , you seem like an ok guy. we could prolly have drinks together. but politics......thank god we only have this forum. cheers! i hope you get what i am saying. judging from that avatar you have had a few drinks. hopefully that is not what has clouded your judgement on the election. j/k

hehe. that pic was taken in Dewey, the only town on the island of Culebra, where I vacationed for 3 weeks in Sept. Yeah, I had a few.
We probably shouldn't talk religion, either.
LuKahnLi 10-29-2004, 08:20 AM I dunno. I know reasonable and unreasonable folks from either side. I enjoy a good political discusssion.

BiggestBoxingFanEver 10-29-2004, 03:40 PM VB,
Culbre huh. I wanted to make it over there when I was Vieques but couldn't find the time. If you ever get the chance, try to make it over to Vieques. They just opened up 1/3 of the island that was previously off limits. It was very cool to be the only two people (me and the wife) on the beach for hours at a time. However, I've heard the same about culbre. El Yunque is not to be missed either, It is truly priceless.
When I think about it, I don't know why you'd ever leave Hawaii.

because the food here sucks, and because there isn't much to do besides diving, hiking, etc.
I was in Vieques in the 80's. It was nice back then. I didn't get to visit El Yunque because of some problems we had on the trip, but there's always next time.
