What was the best era with the best HW? What about the toughest MW division ever?

I ll start with a few which come easily to my mind, you guys go on.

HW 70s (followed by 90s)

175 late 70s (or 40s, but the best guys were prevented to fight from the title)

in my personal opinion though, the Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson trio slightly surpasses the Ali, foreman, frazier era...although its close..all IMO of course

126-129 definently goes to early 2000's as you put.

for middleweight its hard to say, every era had strong middle weight contenders, you have robinson, hagler, jones, mcllelan, hopkins..

I think going on 4 if not more years now, boxing has been on a high, so many division are filled with great fighters and match ups its insane when you think about it.

Don't get fooled that the weltweight division is the only great division in boxing.

And for 126 you have to mention Hamed, Kelly and Medina, Kelly cause that guy always seemed to be in very good fights, I don't know how many times i've seen Kelly getting his ass kicked then BAM! he knocks the **** out his opponet warriror he was. Medina he'll always be around that guy is timeless. Tom Johnson He had a **** load of title defenses. Wilfredo Vasquez deserves a mention but never seen him fight much.

Maybe counting the whole decade is too long, but the MW division in the 1940s was excellent.

Do you rate that 160 division very high (Zale, La Motta, Cerdan, Graziano)?

I didnt think much of it, but your judgments are usually on point, so i ll go watch some fights again.

MW seems shaky to me (and has been like that for a long time).

Yeah, some of the Murderers Row can count for both MW and LHW, or for Burley, WW and MW. Sometimes the guys moving around in weight in or being between the two weight classes makes it a little tough to gauge which class to put them in. A guy weighing 164 for instance, is over the MW limit, but I'm sure they would've lost the extra pounds if it were a title bout.

Obviously Robinson was special, LaMotta was an excellent fighter. Graziano is generally regarded as a protected fighter though, whose most memorable wins were over smaller guys or a post-WW2 Zale (who beat Rocky 2 of 3).

Could Campbell beat Diaz again? He'll have to prove it.

Casamayor we know is on the way out but his win over Katsidis was great, but what about his fight with Santa Cruz a young fighter who many felt he was robbed?

And those are only 2 division out of many.

The 112 through the 135 division is great so many fights can be made some fighters can come up or down and fight the top guys. Light Heavyweights still is not sure who now rules that division or can Calzaghe make his domince felt? Crusierweight don't know much. Heavywegitht low times. Supermiddlewight and Middlweight are not as bad as it seems there can be made some good fights.

I think the only division in boxing that is lacking is Heavyweight and Cruiserweight.
