i ****ing do.

he fought an awful fight tonight, and only just squeezed out a win in my opinion. hopkins neutralized him BIG TIME throughout the majority of the fight.

I REALLY wanted Joe to put on a stellar performance, but he didn't. Fair enough in some peoples eyes a win is a win, but not in mine.

He was lucky to get that victory, he didn't silence any critics, and is more than likely going to fight RJJ next, who has no business even being in the ring anymore.

Even in victory it appears Joe has lost in terms of the educated british boxing fans opinion.

He won thats the main thing.......he was'nt at his best, but when an opponent just wants to hold on it does'nt makfor a good fight:boxing:

calzaghe fought a poor fight tactically..... if your man is holding on why cant you take a step or half step backwards and not get involved? Joe was lunging in and it was scrappy

It was a bad performance by Joe

Good result but bad performance. Hopkins wanted to make it messy, scrappy and dirty and he did.

But Joe fighting a bad fight still beats Hopkins so that must say something to how good Joe can be.

Was a horrible fight to watch, but glad Calzaghe got the win, especially with Bernards cheating. What a scum bag, and what a scum bag Joe Cortez is.

I agree 100%. It would have pissed me off so much if Hopkins had won after all the holding, sticking his head in, faking the low blows, complaining to the ref etc.

Funny how Joe Cortez stops Hatton holding and takes a point off, but doesnt do anything about Hopkins holding, don't you think Mickey?

I think Hatton has every right to complain about his treatment in his last fight.

i definitely got the feeling, from what I saw and from what Cortez was saying that he was determined to NOT take any points -and i beleive that was in light of the Hatton vs. PBF bout. The fact he refused to take points from a low-blow feigning headbutting cunt like Hopkins gave him a free licence to cheat throughout.

Joe said it himself in the corner "he keeps cheating".

If i'd have been Enzo i'd have said "excuse me Mr.Cortez if you don't mind terribly, could you stop Bernard Hopkins from headbutting my son please?"

Well Joe didn't know what to do with Hopkins. All that clinching and head work mean't he couldn't get any proper combos going and thos counter rights made him think twice.
Hopkins fought a boring awkward fight but Calzy should have expected this. Bernard was never going to chase after Joe.

I think let down is the wrong word, it was always going to be a boring, scrappy spectacle. The main thing is he won.

He annoyed me when after the fight he acted as if he won before it had been announced.

It worried me when Enzo shouted "GET YOUR HANDS UP!!!!" angrilly to his son. As if to say "make it look like you've won" ......

Enzo had doubts last night.

Yeah, weren't the doubts confirmed when in the last round he said "joe you've got to knock him out."

Ah well he won at the end of the day. I think it could have easily went the other way, for example One Joe throw a flurry of slappy hooks I thought he landed them all and was bossing it. Then saw the replay closer up and he missed them all.

I was a little disappointed he settled for the easy way to win. He didn't put himself at risk

I was disappointed as I turned a bird down cos I said I was going home to watch the boxing, the pace it went at I could've watched the fight, and nailed some fat slag at the same time. Bernard Holdkins' face when the announcement of the Calzaghe win though was worth it in the end.

"it's the fans who know the truth! They're the ones that pick the victor! Not the judges!"

Erm...no Bernard. It's the judges.

Goodnight.
