Last night's outburst by Peter Ebdon was totally disgusting and totally out of character for someone whose only contribution to the game is to replace Terry Griffiths as the slowest player ever. It takes him a minute to pot a black from the spot.

Ebdon was being honest, showing his feelings. It seems many people in England feel that it is not 'sporting' to show that one enjoys winning, but the will to win is what makes a winner. England has too many 'well done chaps' losers playing sport, that's why from tennis to cricket the other teams such as Australia will usually win.

He was just chuffed he'd emerged victorious in a tense match. His desire to win, hunger for the game of snooker and the relief at winning the game made him react the way he did. He's just a sportsman like any other with a passion for the game. Get off his case.

The point here seems to be that the frame and the match had not finished. Lee could have got the two snookers required and won the frame and therefore the match. This makes snooker different to say football or rugby, where celebrations are subsequent to the score. Lee was obviously affected by the outburst, shown by the fact he conceded almost immediately - Ebdon should have been more restrained.
