I figure it would be fine. I mean it could even be better to train in what you actually fight in.

I haven't been training long(about 2 weeks) and I just use the different headgear at the gym to get a feel of what I should get for myself.

I only train in competition headgear 7 days before a fight, because theres no point in sparring in a barly padded open face headgear for a whole year because it doesnt protect shit.

It would take a lot of beer to make sparring in open-face headgear sound like a good idea to me.

I only spar in my competition headgear... But that guy makes a good point why not use the protection while your practicing...

I think i'll start using my protective one again now that i actually think about it.

i dont know what the point is with those open face headgears! the ones that amateurs use. they are so pointless and offer no protection whatsoever.the only thing they have is slight protection against a hook, and im not sure if they even have enuf padding, its a rort.

Actually...competition headgear has the cheeks as well. The difference between competition headgear and training headgear is the padding. Training headgear is more padded than competition headgear. Here are some examples:

We usually spar in Top Ten headgear at my club which is open faced. But we have got a head guards with more padding. I don't really have a preference, I just pick one.
