Back to the Oasis debate. No way are they a shit band. Their first two albums are brilliant therefore aren't a shit band. EVerything else since then has been shit though so I kind of know what you're saying.

Saw them live in Milk N Beanes when what's it called Don't believe the truth (shit title) album was around. Still an amazing band live, then again it does mainly consist of their older stuff.

Seriously the rolling stones are unbelievable shit. David Bowie totally owned their Let's spend the night together, that's how the Stones should have sounded.

The SMiths are a great band, but Morrisey is a detestable queer bag.

I prefer the early Beatles stuff before they drifted away from their blues roots. I saw the Stones at Sheffield in 2006 and they were amazing, even if Jaggers voice is going.

That said, i'd rather listen to the current Stones than the Arctics or some other band like that.

I guess, solo artists seem to do better in the longevity stakes. Probably due to less quarreling. I saw Lou Reed perform Berlin last year, as well as Neil Young with CSN. I'm also seeing Mr Young again this Summer in Kent of all places.

I would say that the Stone Roses were a top band, I know what you mean about the "one album doesn't constitute a great band" but there Stone Roses were more than one hit wonders. Sally Cinnamon, and Fools Gold weren't even on the self titled.

The record company dispute which lost them all the momentum from the first album really ****ed them up, despite this they released a solid comeback cd with some underrated tunes albeit a bit fret wanky, compared to the first album where every note seemed justified. Arguably their be here now.

Overall though I think much more factors decide how great a band is, The Stone Roses were a great live act (Can't vouch for that personally) and had bags of style and attitude. The amount of influence they've had on the modern music scene, solely responsible for Liam Gallagher fronting a band (Debatable a good thing.) I'm sure many others cite them as influences.

The Libertines on the other hand, great band but were soley responsible for a really shit music scene.

Stone Roses were good.........but i've always prefered The Verve to them. Another one hit wonder album band....but their debut is mad underrated.

Bob Dylan was great...but i went to see him recently and it was a massive let down. I don't like his recent stuff at all.....i fell asleep during his set.

I have to say that apart from Oasis.....Muse are better then everyone else you mentioned. One of the best live acts i've ever seen.

Chilli's are too repetitive.....their latest shit sounds the same as there old stuff.

Killers and Libertines are cool, and The Zutons are okay, but Muse are one of the best bands of the past 20 years. Also, i'm probably the only fan of Radiohead here. Great band.....great videos.
