View Full Version : So i settled for Grant!!
Romero87 04-15-2008, 01:48 AM Yea so ive been boxing again for 2 weeks from a 6 month break, and right before i left boxing my left hand began hurting the front below the knuckles..so i did some research and found out it depends on the brand you use...to this point i thought all gloves were the same just different style...i thought about getting the gel but havent heard of any pro boxers using them so didnt know there credibility..in the end i decided to get grant cause i heard mayweather used these before winning..i got these pair

i hope there everything i expect or well at least better then my everlast...anyways ill post back with what i think about them when i get them in the mail!!
oh one question do those gel hand wraps really work?
alexisarguello8 04-15-2008, 02:12 AM honestly it depends on your punch teqnique its not about who owns the best brand glove the best of the best just show up to practice pick whatever gloves out the bin and learn the sacred art of boxing just practice on your teqnique and your hands will stop hurting
Tyson Jones 04-15-2008, 11:51 AM Sometimes it really is the glove. Nice choice. I know my title super bag gloves ( non gel ) always make my knuckles sore, but my grant bag gloves do not.

:nonono: Maybe this is the case with newbies but my technique is down to a tee..but i still always see need for improvement...but i seriously dont think that statement is true for a boxer who has been boxing for a while..i think the gloves do pay a big part as well...im waiting for these gloves still..i think they went out today as soon as i get them theres gona be some serious power shots thrown to see if there good enough to keep my hands feelin good...im tired of having all the stamina and muscle power but cant throw a punch to hard cause my hand hurts...:boxing:
Romero87 04-19-2008, 01:42 AM Ok so i got my gloves today and well damn i wish i would of known about these gloves from the get go...First off the glove feels huge but the padding inside is so ****in awesome when i punch the bag with all my power the foam molds to my hand and i feel no pain...i went about 12 rounds on the heavy-bag field with sand and 4 rounds on the heavy bag field with water....another 4 rounds on a circular bag to practice upper cuts and hooks and finished it off with 4 rounds on the floor to ceiling ball...never once did my knuckles force me to stop...the only downside is there so much padding its hard to make a fist but i guarantee a week from now ill have it flatned down and easier to make a fist...i also like the velcro strap it makes my wrist feel hella secure like it tightens all the way around my wrist...:boxing:

I have tried on and used both the campeon and the shitty ass professional grant gloves. I dont know why people hype them up so much, they werent even that great besides the extra secure padding on the thumb and inside of the gloves.
Tyson Jones 04-19-2008, 01:53 AM I just got my title gel bag gloves in today, Never experience anything better, better than any other bag glove I've used. I can't speak on reliability yet though. I know the grants last though.

lmao maybe for you there the shit but for me i would never waste my money on any everlast glove again...i think it just comes down to personal preference though im just giving my opinnon on the gloves and i think there ill....as for tyson jones i think im gona still buy a pair of title gels just to test out for myself, cause i hear nothing but good things about them...are they bulky like the grant ones?

Well yea your right man, im just pissed at grant as you can see because i got the pro training gloves from grant and they were horrible! I can clearly tell they were made in mexico, and if you dont know the campeon line from grant was not made in mexico. Are you talking about the 80 dollar everlast professional training gloves, the real training gloves not th 25 dollar shits they sell at wallmart?
Romero87 04-19-2008, 02:45 PM yea i can understand that if anyone messes with my money im pissed, naw i had the 80 dollar ones..there ok gloves but my hands for some reason always hurt after a months usage and when im throwin punches i have to pull back somewhat..thats great they work for you though..it sucks cause people see me in the gym and there like man he's bigger and i throw a harder punch but its not cause of that it was since my knuckles were hurting...but the grants are working fine for me now..im tempted to by those gel ones next. Just so i can compare them and know what im dealing with...but damn its gona take forever to break in these grants lol. i know the campeons are not made in mexico but i forget where are they made again?....or maybe my next glove will be winnings i dont know id hate to spend that much only to be disappointed!
The Professional Everlast gloves are good, very comfortable. The Everlast gloves you get at Dicks or Dunhams are crap though, you have to get the professional ones. I use Title gloves, and they're pretty good. The padding is more distributed than the Everlast's, but I like it that way, it makes the gloves less bulky. I also have a pair of Top Contender Bag Gloves, but those are average. Can't really say much about them except that there are much better gloves out there.
Terror Child T8 04-20-2008, 07:07 PM WINNING ALL THE WAY. I had everlast proffesional lace ups, Grant proffesional lace ups, and now winning. i dont give a crap about the price because at the end of the day when you put them on, you know you got your money's worth. Not only do winning have 2 extra layers of padding, but it is made out of artificial leather (not real leather meaning the material isnt as rigid and has a nice cushion to it and the gloves come way further down the arm then any other glove i have used which feels alot better.
Grant are also extremely good, if you really dont want to pay for winning gloves ( which i can understand) Grant will do nicely.
EVERLAST GLOVES ARE SHHHHHIIIIIITTTTTT. I REPEAT, SHIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!
i am a defensive boxer so maybe thats why i prefer grant and winning gloves, i go for precise and accurate punches, picking them out carefully. im not a hardcore power puncher that walks in straight lines so maybe thats why, but even when sparring with everlast gloves my knuckles would always always bruise without fail.
1.Winning (but only purchase if you are a serious boxer and will actually get all the benefits from it otherwise yes it is a waste of money.)
2. Grant
3. Title Gel (for training purposes only)
4. Reyes (probably better than title and maybe even grant but like i said its not a defensive boxers first pick of glove)
5. LAST AND MOST CERTAINLY LEAST, EVERLAST.
i dont know why but i would only ever buy apparel from everlast again from the experiences i have had with them.

your an idiot dude, everlast pros the 80 dollar ones are alot better than you describe them to be. pro grants have that stupid ass long cuff that basicaly covers almost my whole forearm only slows your punches down!
toolboxdiver 04-20-2008, 09:13 PM I have the Grant Campeon Super Bag Gloves and I love them, back in the day when I was fighting I used to use Tuf-Wear Pro Fight Gloves for bag gloves. I never liked Everlast Gloves, but that's just my opinion. I also like the Cleto Reyes Gloves they are top notch. I may get a pair of the 16oz Reyes bag gloves this summer, I want the extra weight for my workout.

Dude if you read carefully i said those gloves are for defensive fighters, hence the extra support and cushioning they provide, there not for power punchers.
they cant make your punches that slow, flyd jnr doesnt seem to have any problems with speed using winning or grant
Eshays! 04-23-2008, 08:54 AM I've got a pair of 16oz Grant Campeón Training Gloves, their shithouse! Definatley would not recommened them to anyone. They feel sluggish compared to other 16ozs & im always getting constant thumb pain with them. How do Cleto Reyes go as a glove for the bags n sparring???? heard very mixed reports about them
bluehefner 04-24-2008, 01:02 AM winning gloves~!!!!!!!!!
