We'll i've been in alot of street fights and haven't loss one. Although I know street fighting and boxing is TOTALLY different just wanted to give myself a big head  .

Any how I really want to train hard and fight AM and if time permits go PRO. Here is a little about me.

I'm 5'5" 150 lbs soaking wet (on a good day), I'm from Daytona Beach, Florida area. I'm also 27 years old, and thats the thing that scares me. I have alot of heart though and think If I train hard, focus, and discipline myself I might be able to do something.

My thing is where should I start. Also what kinda nutrition/diet should I be working on (if you can point me to a website for this that would be great)

Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to start my training tomorrow.

Find a gym and train to your complete limits as often as you can.

I cant say much abou nutrition but i gatat tell you that you should do a lot of running, about 3 miles a day or so if you can. This will build up stmina however do not try to start boxing at home as you will most probably develop bad habits. Good that you are going to a gym..

What I was thinking about was actually walking to the gym everyday and then jogging back after training. I know I will be beat and might not make it the first few times but after a week or 2 I'm sure I'll be able to. It's about 1.79 miles from my house depending on which way I go.

As far as training at home I wouldn't dare try that. I've already got some bad habits from street fighting and I don't need to pick up anymore.

So let me ask you this, how do you actually start to boxing at an amateur level? What does it really take and I've heard the matches are shorter aswell.

your 27 years old.

You need to run. Constantly.. Run and do a massive amount of push-ups.. after you learn the punches shadow box as often as you can..

Put everything your trainer says in your heart.. ask questions.. learn as much as you can.. Fight as often as possible after you get started.

Start shadow boxing like 20 mins in the morning.. watch lots of boxing.. drink loads of water...Don't slack on any of your training.

look to be pro by 30... I would say. and give it 5 good years and see where it takes you.

You could be a champion. But the work load for that to be accomplished is going to be massive.

good luck mate.
one quick thing though,
you are quite heavy for your height, try and lose at least 10 lbs, because you are realistically too short to fight at light middle.

I'm heavy? Wow I've been trying to put on weight. I'm usually 142 but been eating more. So what weight class would you suggest I focus on for my height?

Mate heres a good diet for you to start on

Breakfast

2 slices wholemeal toast with honey and a bannana
or
Bran or wholegrain cereal (something healty no sugary stuff) with low fat milk and a piece of fruit
or
Oats/porridge with low fat milk and honey

Morning Tea

Piece of fruit
or
Small Tin of tuna on crispbread
or
Small tub of yoghurt

Lunch

Ham or chicken or turkey and salad roll (wholemeal)
250ml low fat flavoured milk
Piece of fruit

Afternoon Tea
750 ml sports drink
or
1 carton yoghurt
or
1 piece fruit
or
1 cereal bar

Dinner

Stir-fry with 2 cups rice + 100 g meat + 1 cup vegetables
or
200g Lean grilled beef or chicken with 1 cup steamed vegetables
or
2 cups pasta + 100g meat + 1 cup vegetables

Desert
1 cup jelly + 1 cup custard

The above diet would give you about 500g carbs and about 150g protein per day, which is a good amount of each for your bodyweight. People may tell you to cut back the carbs, but i disagree with this. Carbs are your fuel, you need them to train hard and assisit in recovery.

Try and time your meal around training. DOnt eat anything heavy in the 2 hours prior to exercise, maybe just a banana or museli bar 1-2 hours out.
Do take on a good amount of carbs and protein straight after training. You should be trying to maximise your intake of these within 45 mons of finishing your training

Health should be higher on the list of priorities than low body weight. In the long term, this will benefit performance, training, emotions and health.
Choose a balanced diet, emphasising a nutrient-dense foods.
Investigate reasons for eating when not hungry. Everybody does it, but some people do it more than they realise. If you've just eaten and still feel hungry load up on water to trick the gut into feeling full.

I try and stick to this type of diet 6 days a week and 1 day I have off. I love food and gotta get my fix of something good and have a few nice big meals. Still healthy not fast food or anything just a huge big juicy steak, or some baked pork chops or spare ribs etc. Or maybe pancakes for breakfast in tead of cereal. You still need to enjoy life imo
