My stamina improved substantially after I started running sprints in the mornings instead of long runs.

Punch out drills on the heavybag... consists of 30 seconds punching as hard and as fast as u can. repeat that 3-5 times along with burpees, long runs, sprints, hill sprints, interval running, skipping etc..

match your exercises to 3 minute intervals with 1 min rest. for example when running do 3 mins at high intensity (like 90% of your max heart rate) then have a minute of slow jogging, then repeat for the amount of rounds you are going to fight (or more )

also to increase to oxygen flow you need to increase your VO2 max, which is the rate at which oxygen is supplied to your muscles, increasing your VO2 max will mean that it takes longer before your arms start to burn.

Angus is right on the money, this is a highly effective way to build stamina for boxing. You gotta be able to keep throwing punches round after round, and they've gotta count. The punchout drills will help you to work through lactate build-up in your sholders/ arms/ back, and increase your anaerobic capacity.

I do 3 sets during a work out, with each set consisting of a 1 min round followed by 10 pushups, 30 sec round and ten pushups and a 15 second round then ten pushups.

Hard, fast and head height.

Lots and lots of skipping is good for your cardio

Drills are great. I usually keep my drills towards the end of my workout and I do 4 x 1 minute with a minute rest in between. Like the sound of your drill workout Sven but I'm not keen doing pushups in my bag gloves! - due to the fact I need help putting the gloves on (my Title Gels have velcro fastening - and the thumbs are stitched to the glove and it makes putting them on yourself near impossible!)

Keep you gloves on and do em on your knuckles, you can put a towel on the floor if you're worried about scuffing up your brand new gloves. (I get quite precious about mine! lol)

LOL! Man, why didn't I think of that? Yeah, I was also worried about scuffing or even ripping my gels, think I'll maybe follow your drill pattern then. Cheers

Jump roping is the best excersize man. Sometimes i go at it for 60 minutes a day. You burn alot of fat and gives you alot of stamina.

I think that would bore the **** out of me. Plus i reckon my shins would fall apart. But you're right it would burn a lot of fat and be insane for your cardio

I recently bought the 20 oz. heavy hitter gloves from ringside because i had the same interests as you. i had my first bout and was concerned afterward even though i had won, that my arm endurance was not good enough...

ive been using the gloves for three days now and i have to say that compared to the 16 oz. i was using before they are a lot better to work with. my arms get tired much quicker and i can tellthey are being worked out more. But im still able to throw combos and work just as a i did before with the smaller gloves. i guess next time i spar ill see if its made a difference.

aside from that, just throwing lots of punches on the bags, heavy bag, double end, and then going all out on the speed bag...

the double end bag in particular, if you can get into a little rythm with your punches you can go for a long time not missing the bag and getting in 20-30 punch combinations. hope this helps.
