DENVER -- Scientists said Wednesday they've discovered the bones of a prehistoric human dwarf species -- a species that lived on a remote Indonesian island even as modern man thrived.

The people appear to have lived on the island of Flores somewhere between 12,000 and 95,000 years ago.

One adult female specimen was about three feet tall.

Researchers said the brains of the so-called Flores Man were about a quarter the size of those of Homo sapiens.

Yet evidence suggests they made stone tools, lit fires and organized hunts.

Whether the species ever interacted with modern man is unknown.

Geologic evidence suggests a volcanic eruption about 12,000 years ago wiped out the species.

Details of the discovery appeared in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature.

Thats some really weird ****, i thougth cave people were like, enormous!

so where does this put religion? Do you believe this? Do you still have the same belives for religion? This is the kind of stuff that freaks me out, to know that people (a type of race) lived some many years ago.

Ya, I read this. Its some bad ass info. The most important bit of information is that they existed at the same time as did homo sapiens. If they are able to get DNA out of any of the remains it will be huge for science!

It just really puzzles me more than anything, many religious books have stated facts/figures that were only to be proved by science a few years ago, so it doesnt really question me about my religion
