looks like its happenign in september..

seems a long way away for now but it's a very winnable fight and will set him up for a shot at the ring title in early 09 should he be victorious.

thoughts?

I wonder why there is always so much time in between his fights? I really hope he gets a new trainer. That dog can still be taught new tricks.

Well his face was in a right state after both his last to fights, so it will take time to heal fully, before starting up serious sparring and the rest.

Sept isn't that long away. At least he's not wasting too much time. Can't wait for this fight.

I hope so as well. If he's a little more careful this time, I believe he can win this fight with out getting too messed up.

To me a Katsidis fight is better than sex. Can't wait!!

Good matchup, & it should be entertaining, but I wouldn't mind seeing Katsidas take a tune-up in August against your standard South American journeyman, concentrating on form a little more.

An additional trainer to add some polish would be nice as well.

RE: Chavez, favour Katsidas by TKO in about the 9th, in an entertaing battle.

I don't think his face looked that bad after the Casamayor fight but perhaps I should take another look. Anyhow, I would really like to see Katsidis get to the top again. I pray that he replaces his trainer though.

Sounds like a really good fight to me.
Pity we have to wait so long.

Ahh fantastic, they aren't wasting too much time. Great! I think this is a good fight for him to come back with. Chavez is getting on now but still will pose some issues for him and is a great fighter that he should be able to beat and also learn some things from him. Chavez is pretty easy to hit so I could see a KO/TKO but he's also damn tough so I could also see it going the distance. Actually, it will surprise me greatly to see a KO unless it is the corner stopping someone from taking too much.

It's good that Kats is taking a bit of time off to hopefully train up, heal properly and most importantly add some new aspects to his game...including a new trainer ;) Not that that will happen though.

This is great, I'm really looking forward to this and I believe that this is the perfect fight to get Kats back into the swing of things. Chavez will present some problems but it shouldn't be anything too great and unless Kats was mentally scarred by the Casa fight he should take it, after all, Chavez is a pretty typical come forward fighter and there isn't many better and more aggressive than Kats today.

I just desperately hope that Kats and his team are working madly on adding some proper defense to his game. He needs to get some serious head movement going and learn to use his jab for everything. If he can fix that he will be unstoppable but he just has to understand that he can't just fly in with no defense or jab and expect to win everything. Hopefully he did learn that, I can't really see how he couldn't and I hope that his corner learned something too ie. how to give some good advice when he needs it most!!!

I actually really hope that Casa can win against Diaz to set up a rematch. Kats could definitely win the rematch and it would erase his only loss and set him up as the best lightweight and a super fight with Pacquiao! He needs that rematch though I reckon.

hmm i actually dont know how much credit will go to katsidis if he beats casa in a rematch.. all we'll hear is.. well he was 36 then.. he was 37 the next time.. katsidis had to catch up to him eventually..

on the other hand.. if diaz beats casa.. then katsidis beats him.. it's like katsidis has beaten the man who beat the man..

i wish campbell was in the 4 way fight off.. i dont rate him as highly as everyone else does and think he's going to rack up some easy wins in the meantime and have all the americans saying.. he's the real champ.

Absolutely. He would get hardly any credit for it. But, I think it would still erase his only loss for himself and the fans and be great for his mental game. Though I also agree that if he Diaz wins and Kats can beat him then it will be basically be just as good, if not better! If Diaz beats Casa convincingly and Kats beats him then it will just show how the experience of Kats came to play in the Casa fight.

Yeah, Campbell is a funny one. I think he is quite skilled and tricky but he is also quite a strange fighter. I do think if he is on his game he is a big threat to anyone in the division as we saw but I think he is also beatable. I mean, just check out one of my favourite fights ever in Robbie Peden vs Nate Campbell!!!! Woooooooooo, that was easily one of the greatest moments in boxing history! I can watch that KO over and over and over and over and over and over again! :lol1:

How f*cking stupid can you get? Either way, I would say if Kats can get by Chavez, which is very likely barring some odd mess up, then a fight with Diaz or even Campbell would be great and quite winnable if he has gotten some extra gears into his game, especially on the defensive side of things.

Kats will be a favourite in this fight, but I won't rule Chavez out of having a chance.
Kats can't underestimate him. I can't wait to see Michael fight again.

:lol1: one of my all time favourites too.

the rematch makes it all the sweeter with peden backing it up with a fair and square beating.

im hoping katsidis shows us some of his ability in this next fight. it's a really good opportunity for him all round
