Seriously, this guy is amazing, lyrically. He has one GREAT album under his belt, in my opinion, with Death Is Certain. That album has nice beats and he always comes lyrically with it. What is your take on him?

Yeah he is underrated. I think the fact that people associate him with Eminem so much held him back.

Very true. Add to that that sometimes his beat selection isn't the best, and it gets to him. However, THIS song/beat is sick.

He has a mixtape coming out called, 'The Bar Exam II'. He's working with DJ Premier and Los, a producer for Biggie. There WAS talk about him signing to a record label under Nas, but that kinda died down. He still has a major label album in him. I can feel it.

I hope so.....his past albums have always missed that x-factor...although good, they're not albums you can listen to at all times no matter how good his flow/lyrics are.

Hard to choose between Royce and AZ. I'd give the edge to AZ.

AZ is lightyears above Royce, Royce has never and will never spit suttin hotter then Az's verse on life's a *****, and he hasnt spit nuttin hotter then Az's verse on Phone Tap. Plus Az's countless classic on his album, theres no comparing the two.

Royce is a great battle rapper which he has over AZ since AZ never has battled and I would give Royce full due but everytime he makes a solid album he ruins it with bull***** like "Blow My Whistle", I can understand aiming for a bit of mainstream but some artists just shouldnt try.

Boom! by Royce Da 5'9", although it doesn't surpass AZ's work, it TOUCHES it. Lightyears is a bit of an overstatement, in my opinion. Although you are entitled to yours, I just see him as a worthy comparison.

By the way, Death Is Certain has some GREAT tracks.

Just another great artist from the murder mitten. I find it funny that the South and East get all kinds of attention (if you pay attn to that thing) from people as being the prominent areas for hip-hop and rap, but the Midwest artists are the ones putting out quality music left and right.

I remember the first time I heard Boom on the radio during Funk Master Flex's mix hour. WOW!!!! That man can spit for real. I started trying to get all of his music. He's definitely a throwback rapper. Insane skill & potential. I hope Jay-Z sign him to his label to get the much needed exposure.

They have no problems, and apparently talk more with eachother. Nonetheless, Royce's best chances of getting on some tracks with Em is to sign to another major label and reach out. when it comes to comparing AZ and Royce i think that the real question that we should be asking ourselves is who is more likely to show longevity and who are we more likely to remember.

i think that when you aproach it like that, the answer is easy. but we'll see where Royce takes us...it's definitely possible that he has not reached his full potential yet.
