hookoutofhell 04-07-2008, 10:57 AM everything is open to opion of course but imo the top 5 of any p4p list has to have sugar ray robinson, muhammed ali, joe louis, marvellous marvin hagler and sgar ray leonard in there somewhere.
the next 5 would proabaly include marciano, duran duran, archie moore, RJJ an maybe frazier. again it depends on everyones own individiual opinon, a firend of mine is a great muhammed ali/sugary ray leonard fan and would definently put the himgher in the list than me.

I guess you never heard of henry armstrong....but LMAO@ duran duran being in the top 5 p4p.
J_CON 04-07-2008, 08:35 PM How can you not have Joe Louis!? Why is Hamed there? Calzaghe should definately not be there. THere are many others who shouldnt be.

Mosley? Calzaghe? HAMED?!?!?!
even Conn and Foster I dont think belong in there, at the weight I would rather mention Charles, Moore and Spinks.

What's wrong with Mosley, he was great in all three weight classes and one of the best at LW

There is nothing wrong with Shane, but look at the other names on the list (minus those I am taking away) and see what I mean. I would like not to have to spend words to put down Mosley to convince you (because I like him a lot), but just compare him to the company.
Speaking of painful things to do, now that I look at the list again, I am not sure Hagler belongs on that list either. Hagler is my favorite ever, but the other names are just a little bit better.

mosely was a great fighter dont get me wrong. However he does not belong in the pantheon of all times greats where people like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard will forever be honoured. Calzaghe and Hamed dont belong there neither. Not sure about Hagler i think an argument could be made either way, he's close at the very least
mcentepede 04-11-2008, 03:17 PM Hagler was one of the best, no doubt. He fought everybody, ducked no-one, fought in Philly and England (in other people's backyards) came in fantastic shape all the time. (Very few fighter look great in their final fight, Hagler was ripped vs. Leonard) and for the most part, was both technical and exciting. Could box, slug, southpaw, orthodox, intimidate. He lost 3 close, somewhat disputed decisions overall, but avenged them all except Leonard fight. Keep in mind, that Leonard never backed Hagler up in that fight. All the fighters today are lacking in at least 1 department that I mentioned that's for sure. Mostly, they duck everybody that is a threat...it's all about money today.
reedickyaluss 04-11-2008, 03:19 PM shane mosley is awesome
but dont ever mention him with SRR, henry armstrong, willie pep
Don Corleone 04-11-2008, 04:34 PM Mosley is in a diferent generation then SRR,Hagler and the other guys were. No one is comparing anyone, but IMO he belongs with the all-time greats, from his generation and he was P4P one of the greatest in his prime

Sadly (because I am talking about my personal favorite) Hagler lacked in the “smarts” department (at least when compared to other greats). Consider the first four rounds in the Leonard fight, and also note in the Duran fight how he was boxing pretty much the same all the time, but just was more durable, he did not really make that many adjustments in his career. Tactically speaking I think he ws inferior to the cream of the sport.
