View Full Version : David Haye: 'I’d like to challenge the number one mixed martial arts fighter'
RUSTYBOXER 03-31-2008, 08:41 PM Haye: In an ideal world, this is what my plan would be - I’ve accomplished one part of my plan, which was to be undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world, once I’m at heavyweight, I’m not going to box into my 31st year. You know, I’ve been boxing since the age of 10 years old, 20 years in the game is enough for me. But what I’d like to do then, I’d like to challenge whoever’s regarded as the number one mixed martial arts fighter.
I’d probably have to train for a year...

2swell k-wells 03-31-2008, 11:48 PM who the **** is this guy?
2swell k-wells 04-01-2008, 12:00 AM me neither, just another nobody boxer trying to make a name for himself.
Mugicha 04-01-2008, 03:48 AM He's the undisputed cruiserweight champ from England who just knocked out enzo macherinelli a few weeks back. He ko'd Jean Mark Mormeck before that and now he's getting ready for a move to heavyweight.
I doubt he'd do much, but you never know.

mgkirkpatrick 04-02-2008, 10:56 PM david haye could make 205.. put those small gloves on him.. find him a striker to up against and he'll look good
Sage84 04-16-2008, 10:32 AM lol
Imagine if he got in there with Liddell!! love to see Haye get destroyed, the guy is an idiot, good (ish) boxer but an idiot!!
th4l3pr3ch4un 04-17-2008, 09:06 PM david haye striking would do cause problems for any1 in mma, grappling and the ground would be a different story
does anybody even know if he has any mma history ?
no so stop just tagging him as a boxer.
with his physic its entirely possible has has natural talent for the ground game. i mean, look at chuck liddel and keith jardine, neither has any skills on the ground, only takedown defence.

Chuck Liddell has a purple belt in BJJ under John Lewis. Well, he had a purple belt a few years ago. He may have since got his black belt.
flipside 04-19-2008, 08:28 AM all this **** that chuck lidell has and no one has ever seen him use it. all thses MMA nuthuggers know nothing about haye but dismiss him just like that. ahahaha. haye can take care of lidell. mormeck and em aint patsies i guess you guys dont know him too. such insightful idiots.

i know hes got good wrestling skills etc but he hasnt shown em for yrs. hes all stand up and take down defence, which means that haye has a decent chance of competing imo,, whether he will be the next houston alexander remains to be seen lol

TRAVI$ 04-21-2008, 01:55 PM Toe to toe, Haye would **** up most of the MMA Hw's
When hes down.. hes ****ed
Toe to toe, Haye would **** up most of the MMA Hw's
When hes down.. hes ****ed
and that comment is based on what ?
alot of mma stars are ****ed if it goes to the ground.
look how "well" matt serra did against gsp on the ground.
or how "well" koscheck did on the ground against gsp.
or how "well" franca did on the ground against sherk.
or how well houston alexander did on the ground against Silva.
the list of top fighters dominated on the ground COMPLETELY is huge.
also, alot of the mma fighters are mainly standup fighters anyway, who learn slightly different techniques than boxers, like where they hold their hands and head movement, stuff a boxer would pick up really quickly.
u guys put way too much stock in the gap between mma and boxing.
the reason not many top boxers move to mma is because paydays of a few hundred grand dont compare to the millions they can make boxing.
only now that purses are increasing in UFC are boxers considering it.
if the UFC continues its meteoric rise, in 10-15yrs i think many boxers will be crossing over, for a new challenge, and of course the acclaim that goes with it.
yeah alot of em may find it too much, but lets not forget, alo
