Tyson was aggressive as a fighter and looked tough but he never seemed that 'bad' to me until the 90's. Seemed like a nice guy really... not in the ring of course.

Interesting to note that Foreman, Liston and Tyson were all 'nice guys' in real life. Confirmed by people that knew 'em.

The Title Baddest Man On the Planet was given to him after he came back from prison. So that was taken into account. They were all bad guys, but at any time in his career in the ring tyson was the most ferocious fighter.

BTW The video with tyson talking about Dempsey is great, havent seen that before!

Tyson was called "the Baddest Man on the Planet" well before he went to prison in 1992. He was called that when he was running things in the late 80s.

Not sure about that. He only started using it at a title possibly slightly before prison..but definatley after. I dont recal it being used before the douglas fight, remember Cayton and Jacobs wanted a marketable image so im pretty sure they wudnt of assigned him that title

Iron Mike Tyson may have made some truly awful decisions over the last two decades and he may not be quite as well behaved and as clean cut as the only undefeated Heavyweight Champion of the World ever, Rocky Marciano.

However, when he was the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World he really reenergised the sport.

There will never, ever be a Heavyweight as fast and as exciting as the prime Tyson that we saw in the eighties and his record (youngest Heavyweight World Champ of all time) will never be equalled.

haha, only some1 with know boxing knowladge would think that effects what your boxing ability was like and what you ahcived in your career. In you first post you said refer to your sig, many greats have lost especially out of there prime. Your arguments have no meaning, many champions have gone to prison. Look up some other greats, you will see many used drugs (to improve there ability something tyson didnt do), many were criminals. You obviously have no idea about the greats and champions of the past. You obviously dont see how much tyson helped boxing as a sport and how much money he brought into it. :owned:

Arguello and Leonard did not use performance enhancing drugs but Leonard used coke back in the mid 1980's and Arguello was addicted to crack, coke and just about every other drug after retiring from boxing which eventually led to Arguello almost killing himself.

he was lucky enough to have met bobby stewart while still locked up, who eventually took him to live with cus, if it wasn't for them both tyson would still be in jail and still be a criminal.

after he won the wbc title he WENT BACK TO BROOKLYN and participated in a muggin, trying to get his feelings back as when he was a young kid.

It's still a derogatory term with a lot of history behind it.

People using racial epithets doesn't mean someone is truly racist or hateful (I'm of the belief that 99% of people use them behind closed doors), but it's a racial epithet nonetheless.
