What I do is when I wake up I drink 2 protein shakes. During my workout I drink 1 protein shkes while working out, when I get home from the gym I drink 1 glass of creatine. Now I asked people at my local GNC and they said it was good to take both and I asked a couple of people and they didnt recomend it. You guys know if this is healthy for you? Thanx.

Depending on the creatine you need to take it either 30 minutes before or DIRECTLY after your workout. (Like within minutes after finishing)

Protein shakes are alright but Myoplex is by far the best. It has alot more in it than just protein and it builds lean mass. When I was building up after I would finish eating I would drink a Myoplex as well. It's hard to do but it works.

And no supplement you will ever take is as good as eating the right foods. The protein in tuna, nuts, and other food based source is always the best way to go. Protein shakes are just supposed to add on to that. If your not eating the right foods your essentially wasting your money.

I take Trac creatine which has arginine. It enlarges the blood vessels and increases blood flow. With other creatines (that only held water, i.e. CellTech) as soon as I finished cardio I would feel depleted again.

Trac doesn't do that. It retains water and helps to build into lean mass.

Kill the protein drink during the workout, its more useful afterwards...use this brand of Creatine: Size-On by Gaspari Nutrition during the workout.....it is loaded with a multiple creatine complex, glycogen and glucose.....I know for a fact that the entire Detroit Pistons team drink this particular brand during games....It is the best creatine matrix you can purchase at GNC....It will help you with strength and stamina far better than any other Monohydrate garbage....

Use the protein as an immediate post workout recovery and in between meals through out the day....

FYI: anyone using sreatine should be consuming at least 1 gal of water....

Yeah, it's all right.

But to be frank, I am off any supplements right now, just a good diet and I am getting my best gains compared to creatinne gains.

Be sure to have a complete diet if you want to gain any sort of decent muscular mass.

Very true. All creatine is doing is taking water from your body and putting it into your muscles, making you a target for dehydration. I wouldn't reccommend Creatine at all, and if you have to take it, it's better to use for weight lifting, never boxing.

I hate how the prices for protein have gone up so much these past couple of months.. I remember maybe 6-10 months ago a 5lb tub was between 19.99-24.00 for top brands on dps and now protein is going for $35-45.. explains why I stopped buying it. As for creatine, it wears off the week you stop taking it so it's not really worth spending money on, it does work though. I am going to try creatine ethyl ester pills in the future, from what I read they are better then regular creatine.

I've been taking creatine ethyl esther for about a month now, and definatley noticed a difference in stamina, recovery and mental awareness. It has surprised me how effective it has been. I'll be interested to see the difference again after I come off this cycle.

If you are making good gains right now, or if you have only just started, lay off the creatine for now. Introduce it at a time when you feel you've hit a plateau.

What are you mixing your protein in? If you're having two in the morning, I would advise that the first one be in water. This will mean it gets into your system asap. Then have the second one a while after in milk. This will take longer to be absorbed, but that's not as bad thing as it means you body gets a steady supply of protein after taking it.

After a workout your body need protein ASAP, so have that shake in water also.

If you're looking to do it sheerly for cosmetic reasons it is pretty effective. Just remember to drink more water than usual. Though you may not feel dehydrated and the body may not immediately trigger your thirst response your kidneys will show you thanks with greater efficiency if you keep your hydration level up. Over time creatine will create a hydration defiicit if you don't adequately hydrate....the worst case you risk being too dried up to poop and can get severe cramping and constipation, not the kind solved with bananas or laxatives either.

When I was in boxing camp we were advised no creatine and to avoid creatine rich foods to the extent practicle. The risk for dehydration was far too great and even if you stop taking it, creatine stuff will take a few days to get passed out of you before optimal rehydration occurs. When you're training in Texas and Arizona creatine + boxing just wasn't a good thing.

hey mate,

in response to your creatine query the brand I'm taking is called Body Science. First time I've had it so I cant really comment on how good it is compared to others. On my next cycle I'm going to try a liquid creatine, as I train at 6am on want something that can get in my system quickly so I dont have to be up taking pills at 5am. It takes about 1 hour to absorb the creatine into your system in pill/powder form. 20 mins in liquid form.

there are a lot of arguments for and against creatine, but I can't say I've noticed any bad side effects and have not had much weight gain which is good. I would certainly use it again.

Give it a try and if you don't like it stop.

Wow there is a lot of bad information on this thread.

#1. You should look into what exactly it is a supplement does before you ingest it, and be sure you are ingesting it correctly.

#2. Creatine is a great and proven suplpement for all athletes, and yes boxing. It does not just "put water in your muscle".

Research your supplements before taking them or posting terrible in-factual advice

I agree.....there is not too much credibility here....

Creatine works fabulous...it has been rigorously tested since the 50's....Creatine is used as energy by your muscles along with glycogen, ATP, sucralose and oxygen. It is also produced and synthesized by the body as well ( this is why you cycle creatine...when you are on it the bodies production of creatine slows dramatically....staying on creatine too long could eliminate your bodies production altogether )...

On a cellular level creatine allows each cell to retain more water. Your body is 70% water already, creatine attaches and controls the cells that dictate how much water weight your body holds and allows it to be pumped into each muscle....

Size On by Gaspari has a really good matrix of creatines in it and is what I recommed to anyone who wants to try creatine.. It also has plenty of Glycogen and glucose for sustained energy during workouts....

I have used the Ethyl Ester's without much luck....monohydrate is terrible for making you bloated.....In the end, I dont use creatine because of it effects on bloating and water retention...but it does work!

Do a pubmed.org search for creatine and find out the facts yourself. There's a ton of credible info out there if you're willing to do the research. Instead of asking a bunch of non-experts, get it straight from the horse's mouth.
