how good are lentils in the diet ( should I make sure I eat them regulary) and how do you guys suggest they be eaten

very good for you; high in protein and dietary fiber -- if you mix them with grains, such as rice you have a "complete" protein dish, meaning you have a meal with proteins comprised of all the essential amino acids

Kidney beans are really good for you as well.....

Middle Eastern food use a lot of lentils......

yeah its good there is actually a good mix of lentils/peas/brown rice by Bobs Red Mill its a good soup to make easy to throw it in the crock pot with some water or vegetable/chicken broth good stuff.

Yeah, big up the lentils and split peas! Some cook up some lentils add to chopped tomatoes and mix through some wholewheat pasta, add a little herbs and you've got one powerful meal - making me hungry just typing it!!
