Versastyle 03-25-2008, 03:58 PM I fought in the 165lb weight class although a week before Golden Gloves I was weighing 158. I knew I could handle it so I did. This fight many ppl say I won but I'll let you guys be the judge when I upload it in a week.

Did you loose then?? the way you were talking was like you lost. If you did i'd consider turing pro as it is plain to see your tyson like style will never be suited to the amature ranks.
PunchDrunk 03-25-2008, 04:07 PM Good to see you're still out there fighting. Did you enter open class? Did you win?

Yeah I lost. I'll upload it in a week or so. I agree the Tyson style is hard in the am. I did go Tyson style on him in the third and hurt him and had him stumbling...... 5 seconds later the bell rang.:lol1:

Naw, I was forced to go novice because of my fights. I had 2 at the time. Now I have 5. I didnt win though. The ironic thing is the guy that won in the open division at my weight is the same guy I knocked out in one of my Youtube videos in sparring.:lol1:

Stormin' Norman 03-25-2008, 08:20 PM why would u knock someone out in sparring?
why not? you gotta treat it like the real thing, buddy. do you spar, or fight/box? i think it's important to spar hard...if you don't, when fight time comes and those real shots come, it's a different ballgame. **** all that, go 100% when you spar, go 100% when you fight.
treat it like the real thing, otherwise what's the point? "50%" is all bull****, friend. You might be proud of yourself to be able to slip a lazy guy's 50% jab but what about a motivated 100% guy in a fight? see what I'm saying? Better to take a beating in the gym and recover, and do well in a match than do well in the gym, and take a beating come fight night.
props on the golden gloves 2k7. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. What matters is you had the balls to enter, and ended up dazing the guy in the 3rd. that's what im talking about. peekaboo on that mother****.

That is stupid advice. That is how you end up with brain damage, and no skills.
I never put more than 20% power behind any punch I throw in sparing. Sparring is about learning, not beating each other up.

I gotta check it out sometime.
TravelinMan 03-26-2008, 11:13 PM no offense but you dont look big at all.
You are big for your weight, and a little ball of muscle. But i see you getting the crap kicked out of you at 168 mayne.

I wasn't suppose to fight at that weight. I can make 147 as a pro. I knew I had the power to fight at 168lbs so I did it. But I'm fully aware that I'm too small for that weight, kinda wanted to test myself in boxing mentally. As I stated earlier I was weighing like 159 a week before weigh in. Then I decided to **** 152, which I was fighting before and go up to 165.
I know my role in fighting weight classes though.haha. I ate all I wanted everyday for weigh-in cause it was my walk around weight at the time.:lol1:
DA1CATAS 03-27-2008, 07:47 AM THOSE PICTURES ARE GOOD.. NICE CAMERA... FLURRIES MAN ... YOU GOTTA KNOCK GUYS OUT AND STOP PLAYING AROUN IN THERE. YOU SAY YA HAVE THE POWER...SO GO IN THERE LOOKING FOR THE K.O. EARLY... YOU GOTTA DO THAT NOW.
Yo man ALSO... I need to take classes in how to take a loss... You take it so well.. I went nuts after my first....training nonstop all day...running 5 times the day.. just insane... And I'm guessing that even though it pains me to say this... I might ACTUALLY HAVE 2 losses by time im done with AM's..TWWOOO.
after about 50 more fights lol... ;)

I've always been a good sport about taking a loss, although I thought I won this fight but, when it comes down to it its just a match(well to me) As long as the audience know who won is all I'm concerned about.
Jesse told me to start going in and trying to knock them out after this last loss. That light, pop pop and move aint me, AT ALL. He told me the first 2 hits a throw to make them hard so they will respect my power, which all of them did.
K-Nan 03-27-2008, 12:23 PM I'm glad to see that you got some wins under your belt, my dude. Now lets see that record even up.. 3-3, baby.

how old ru? dont rush into the pros, have more fights than that but then again if you are an aggressive walk up style fighter and you keep gettin crap decisions go for it, but talk to some promoters and managers and trainers first, so many guys rush into the pros and end up no bodies but good luck in your upcoming fights neway
Versastyle 03-27-2008, 08:48 PM just 2 more?
Amatuer ain't for me, my body is so dis portioned it aint funny. I have muscles, big legs, and I'm short and heavy. Plus the Am. weight divisions are so far apart it aint funny.
7 under my belt is all I'm doing. I would like to fight like I wanna fight. All that bouncing and flurrying for points aint me.

I talk to my trainer alot( Jesse James Leija, in the pics) and he knows I have more of a pro style. I've been doing the pro style for 3 almost 4 years. I've been trying to do am. style for like 10months now. It takes awhile to change. He wants me to get used to the crowd and getting hit and such.
Darkstranger 03-27-2008, 09:26 PM It's interesting what your saying about having a pro style not suited to AMs. We've got this kid that's joined my club who's trained by Spencer Oliver who was a Super Bantamweight European Champion before slipping into a coma which ended his pro career. This kid is very talented, but my coach was explaining to me that because he's trained in a professional way he's lost ALL of his AM fights.

Its VERY hard to switch, like just joining boxing. I would hesitate in sparring in taking my shots then my trainer would tell me " punch punch punch, its the amateurs" So I did and hated every bit of it.
aussieboxer2320 03-27-2008, 09:34 PM yeah, get a few more fights under your belt and then just go for the pros, some guys who were awful amateurs were brilliant pros, its all about diff styles, best of luck

is this the same guy?
Versastyle 03-28-2008, 10:48 PM Oh, he did drop me in the second for literally half a second. It was one of those brain got scrambled and did what it wanted knockdowns.haha, but that was 1 point then after that I was all over him in the same round like he was the one that got dropped. It was my first time going down, glad it happened now then later on.
Still trying to get that video up within 2 weeks.
