View Full Version : Michael Katsidis What Round Will He Stop Casamayor?
Dick-Sucker 03-22-2008, 06:52 AM Im going with the 4th. ?
Your thoughts?
My simple assumption:
- A fearless, strong and accurate puncher. With a good chin.
Weakness : Easy to hit.
But Katsidis can dominate the division.
Also what do you think he would do to Nate Campbell?
msagrain 03-22-2008, 07:11 AM imo it will go to the judges:D
andigold 03-22-2008, 07:14 AM If it goes to the judges I don't think Kat can win, come from behind tko in 11 or 12 is my tip.
Patty Tanager 03-22-2008, 08:46 AM Yeah Casamayor has an iron chin, Katsidis UD lol.
-katsidis- 03-22-2008, 09:02 AM I have put $1000 on Kastidis with sports bet (TAB) to knock that old ***** out in 4 and take over the Lightweight division
Katsidis will knock Casamayor out in 4
Danny Green and Paul Briggs get it on boys

lol :ugh: :nonono: :tapedshut
nelsoncm 03-22-2008, 09:54 AM I'm leaning towards an upset via UD just because I'm not impressed with Katsidis at all.
He'll be a willing recipient to all of Joel's foul.
boxing_great 03-22-2008, 10:33 AM i think casamayor will win .

lol... rightio
anyway, katsidis in a boil over in the first. Just to be different.
Brunswick Assassin 03-22-2008, 07:36 PM Katsidis to bruise and bust up Casamayor by the 9th round! Casamayor will tell everyone after the fight he's never been hit so hard in his career. Kats will still be WBO Lightweight Champ and 'New' Ring Magazine also known as 'Real' Lightweight Champ of the World!
This fight will get Kats the big money fights he deserves!
Patty Tanager 03-22-2008, 07:45 PM Hmm what happened to the WBC belt?, i thought Casamayor was the WBC champion, but then Diaz got it and Casamayor was the interim champion, and Juan Diaz had the Ring Magazine belt, what the hells gone on?.

i have given up on trying to figure out wtf is going on with these belts. My theory is... the winner here goes on to beat up campbell and that makes them the **** at lightweight.
Patty Tanager 03-22-2008, 08:04 PM Good point, but then we still got David Diaz lol.
Imagine if Katsidis wins, then beats Campbell, and Pacquiao beats David Diaz, Katsidis V Pacquaio, that would be a dream fight of mine.

and then amir khan steps up and gets sparked in the first... that would be and not to quote a famous tiger here... "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT"
Patty Tanager 03-22-2008, 08:12 PM Nah what fights have you seen?, Khan has a GRANITE chin lol. I like Katsidis a lot and pick him over anyone in the division at the moment, but next year i reckon he (Khan) will be ready to go to war with Katsidis.

You should change your username to JINX or Mockers.
You get way ahead of yourself with your bold fight predictions.

Im pretty sure you said Kasa would win aswell.
Don't blame me because Kasa doesn't use his ring smarts.....

I didn't say he would KO him, I don't even remember saying Kats would beat him easily.
boxing_great 03-23-2008, 12:35 AM i think casamayor will win .
as I predicted.
nelsoncm 03-23-2008, 12:49 AM as I predicted.
I bet on Joel too, but I never thought It'd be by ko. I was thinking Joel was gonna foul him to death.
It was all Kat's fault. He was winning but he fought Joel at long range. He doesn't know what a jab is, and definitely swings carelessly. He was sucked into Joel's fight. Still I'm not impressed by Katsidis.

Tonight i wasn't either.
I knew the kid had heart. And seeing him loose was heartbreaking. Because it didn't need to happen. Kat was forcing the issue to much.
I would have been happy with a UD. And he should have been aswell.
Now im not to sure he will get many chances again. Even though everyone is saying he is a legend, which he is.
But common sense he is a danger for not much reward to other fighters in the division. Anyway i have had a few, so im not going to post until tomorrow..

Ever heard the saying "You live by the sword, you die by the sword".
Katsids wouldn't know how to take a round off, that's why I like the guy.

I guess thats why we all like the guy. In hindisight i would have preferred a UD win. But this guy gave us a lot of entertainmnet tonight, he did his country proud and at the end of the day that is what the sport is all about......

Exactly. He did more for Aussie boxing in one night than Mundine has his entire career.

No thats untrue.
You know it. Even though i am the first to admit Mundine is a dog, when avoiding serious challenges.
He has done a lot for this sport. He has brought it to the back pages again.
Not that im saying fighting Soliman is okay, because he is bringing the sport back off the back pages.
But you get my drift.
Chocoholic 03-23-2008, 05:14 AM Exactly. He did more for Aussie boxing in one night than Mundine has his entire career.that statement is rubbish

I can't remember when Mundine was the main event on HBO and in a possible FOTY.
But I can remember Anthony beating up bums at the ent Center.

boxing_great 03-23-2008, 06:57 AM To be honest, Katsidis showed me that he is better that what I thought he was.
I thought he wouldn't be able to mix it with casamayor, but he did very good I thought.

You know what, I agree. I actually thought he was going to have a lot more trouble than he did. In the first round after the two knockdowns all I could think of "Oh ****, I knew it. He just doesn't have the experience yet..." When he started coming back and then getting on top, then getting the knockdown himself ,.. well, he really surprised me.
He did a lot better than I could have imagined and while it was very sad and just awful that he had to lose in the way he did I still think he will get many more chances, because the good thing about being a brawler who doesn't stop is that America always loves 'em and will always give them another shot. So he will be back....hopefully with a new trainer :)
If he can only get a rematch with Casa that will be the best thing for him I think. He can definitely win and he will know it and he will learn from this one I think. If he could get the rematch I believe he may even dominate the next one. Going to the body from the start and checking his desire to throw big rights and go head hunting he will get a KO. If he can get the rematch of course, which I don't think Casa or his people will want to do.
Anyway, if only he could have curbed his need to go crazily head hunting and his corner could have given him some half decent damn advice it was his for the taking! We'll see what happens soon ...
mgkirkpatrick 03-25-2008, 11:41 PM you gotta love katsidis (you all know i do)
his last 3 fights have been FOTY candidates..
i think he's still got a bright future ahead. big fights.. big wins.. big knockouts.. big crowds.. big dollars.. with lots of blood and guts.

Actually you may be right. Katsidis seems like the kind of guy that would stay loyal to a trainer, especially one that has trained him for his whole life. Does any else apart from me and Brently actually think his trainer completely f*cked the fight for him?
Maybe his trainer was so freakin' stressed out as well that he just had a brain implosion and didn't know what to think? I guess that's the big problem though! If your trainer can't tell you the right thing to do, who the hell can?!
I don't know...maybe he wouldn't even be as good with a 'better' trainer. I just have seen Smith give some awful advice to him or no advice at all.

He just needed to tell him to jab more, he never tells him to ****ing jab.

i dont want to give the guy a bagging cause i mean who am i to say..
between every round they'd be 20 seconds from the next and his corner would still be asking what round it was.. telling him to breathe etc.
i was chewing my nails thinking **** mate please tell him to keep the right up.. please tell him to keep going to the body.. he's got to jab his way in
and then my guts turned when after winning how many rounds in a row.. his corner tell him to lift the tempo :nonono:

Smith can't read a fight to save his life. I can't believe he didn't tell Kats to jab.
Smith has to go or at least take a backseat so Kats can improve on his weaknesses.

Based on that performace I think he can win the rematch. I mean he had won more rounds. If he can learn to compose himself without going wild, he could win next time around.
