View Full Version : Who are you voting for?

I would like this thread to remain civil, if possible. If not, I will likely ask Rick to remove it.

I would like to understand why people pick who they do, but I would like it in a manner without attacking others whose views differ from your own.

For my own part I'm voting for Kerry.

My reasons:
As much fun as "rah rah" patriotism is, we have to understand that we live in a world that has more countries in it than the US, and that because of the way the world has evolved, we are not financially independant of the rest of the world and need them buying our goods in order to be able to maintain the lifestyles to which we've become accustomed.
In the 4 years of Bush, we've seen a constant devaluation of the dollar in foreign currency exchanges. Normally this would be coupled with a proportionate increase in foreign orders for US goods. That hasn't happened this time. People around the world are electing to pay more buying goods made elsewhere rather than buy cheaper US goods.
Why is that? Because our Cowboy Religious Whackjob of a President thinks that we don't need the rest of the world to like us and that he can act on orders from "God" and do as he pleases. This frightens the rest of the world and alienates us.
While if I were given a better choice I would not vote for Kerry, the choices I'm given leave me no alternative if I want to see the US thrive again.

vB you know i who i am voting for.

i simply just can't vote for someone that i have no idea what the hell they intend on doing. mostly because they have no idea what the hell they are going to do. i love war, death, and especially alienating our country from the rest of the world. i want only the rich to get richer. i want to be lied to for 4 more years. sure you say that kerry has laid out a plan but i have yet to hear it. where is this grand plan. i want to hear what his healthcare plan is. i want to hear about how he is going to create more jobs. i know you know where i can find this info. i need something that isn't gonna change next year. i guess i just want more of the same.

VB keeping it civil is good. I'm voting for Bush. Can't put a frenchman or atleast someone that acts like it in office. I also want to keep our military and not change to the UN. This should be a good thread. Look forward to see who people vote for.

Of course Im voting for Bush. Hes been unfairly blamed for everything from the recession, to somebodys car didn't start today. Tax cuts do stop recessions and improve the economy. The deficet will be close to zero in a few years if the economy continues to improve at its present rate. There was actually a net gain of jobs in 2004. I dont like Kerrys global test. America is america, we have our own ideas, standards of living, and way of life. Thats what makes america great. Why should we care what other countries think of us? NO country does as much as we do to help the world. Other countries dont like us because of what we have. Most people have their own home, a couple of cars. etc etc. thats why they dont like us, they think of us as spoiled. Kerry has done almost nothing in 20 years in the senate. So did he decide out of the blue to start caring? I think Bush does what he thinks is best. He doesn't care about popularity, or re-election, he tries to do whats best for the american people. Thats what I like about him most.

John Kerry wants the UN involved in how we handle our national security. The UN is a corrupt organization that has accomplished virtualy nothing in over 15 years.

John Kerry wants social programs for people who dont work for it. this will raise taxes for the middle class. he says he will tax only the rich. there are not that many rich people in the country. these programs will make the already too large beauracy in this country even bigger. we need a smaller govt, not a larger.

John Kerry is the most liberal person in the senate.

make no mistake about it, i'm no bush fan. but these are just a few of the examples of why i wont vote for kerry. bush gets my vote by default.

First of all, we are still here right? I mean, the USA and Russia didn't vaporize eachother in the 70s.....and we ain't living like the movie Red Dawn right? Hmmmmmm, maybe the UN providing a forum for countries to air whatever complaints and **** they have IS a good thing!

The point of social programs IS to help people who CANNOT work. This includes the elderly, single parents and disabled people. I don't know ANYBODY that gets food stamps that DOESN'T need them. Those who collect food stamps are usually REQUIRED to have jobs. But because Manufacturing jobs have been outsourced people w/ out college are in a bind to provide for their family.

That your tax dollars are being sucked away by people scamming off welfare is one of the most steaming pieces of BS propaganda the right wing has ever squeezed out. If you are worried about the gov't wasting your tax money, worry about blank checks being written to Halliburton without requiring them to account for the money.

Kerry is the most liberal person on the senate? LAUGHABLE. You don't know very many senators. But of course the REAL reason you are saying that is because that is what Karl Rove's mouthpieces have been saying.

If you vote for George Bush and do not fall into one of the following categories.....

Right Wing Christian
Making over 200K per year
Hopelessly Delusional
Bush family relative.

Then YOU ARE MAKING A BAD DECISION.

This is a debate. You made several statements, they may be your opinions but you did not qualify them as such. If you post statements like that in a public forum you better be prepared to back them up.

Instead of backing up your statements, you cower and say "stop attacking my opinions". Man, I thought bush supporters were supposed to be the tough macho guys....but whenever they are asked to account for the things they say, they wine that they are being attacked. It is this **** about so many Republicans that pisses me off.

Maybe if your opinion doesn't stand up to scrutiny you should reexamine it. Oh but that would be too reasonable for your lot....

Who the **** enters a political discussion, makes several statements taking an extreme view, and then complains that they are being questioned?

So many right wingers are like this. It is annoying.

I know a Republican who said that CNN is biased because if you watch crossfire, the Republicans on the show are weak debaters. I then asked him "Who would you replace them with? Really, who are some debaters on the right wing who can compete with James Carville and Paul Begala?" He of course had no answer for me. Right Wingers are AWFUL at backing up their views.

He is going to let the UN run OUR army. Once again, you are quoting Bush from the debates. Do you have anything to back that up with?

He killed a group of VC that was shooting at him and he pulled one of his men back into the boat he was in when he fell out. That is pretty damn good. The "Swift Boat Veterans" for truth did NOT serve with Kerry. They are the same group that attacked him for testifying in congress about atrocities committed by our troops in the 70s. The Swift Boat Veteran's accusations have been DEBUNKED inside and out on just about EVERY news network.

Why? Because I think Bush is his daddy's dingleberry. I don't like how things are now and I don't see them improving under Bush. I don't feel like going to war with Iran, North Korea, China, and whoever else Bush brands a country harboring "terrorists."

I don't know what Kerry can/will do. I don't think he'd be worse than Bush, so I want him in office.

And I think a lot of Fahrenheit 9/11 is true. There are too many things that couldn't be explained by Bush's people on the film.

If techn9ne had one more brain cell it would be lonely.

I'll vote Kerry.

Why?

Because I care about education - NCLB is a joke. Testing is not teaching and the program is horribly underfunded.

Because I care about the environment.

Because I care about civil liberties and the constitution.

Because I care about the economy.

Bacause I don't want a President whose leadership qualities mirror those of Musilini.

Because Bush ignored warnings about 9-11 from his own terrorist advisor.

Because bush lied and continuously flip-flopped about his reasons for war with Iraq.

Because I care about America's standing in the world community.

For these and many other reasons I am voting for anybody but Bush.

I can't believe Bush is going to win this election. What is wrong with America?

Bush screwed up...badly...in so many ways. This election was a no brainer. It wasn't Vote for Kerry b/c you like him. It was Don't Vote For Bush b/c he's an idiot. So vote for the other guy.

WTF happened?

I'd give Bush the same suggestion that someone gave to Hitch****. I just hope Bush takes us up on it. Tell Bush to go play Top Gun elsewhere.
