View Full Version : Eminem wants you to vote
neils7147933 10-27-2004, 05:27 PM The propaganda machine is getting larger...
Anyone seen his new video? How do you go from getting drunk and puking on Michael Jackson and running naked down the street straight to a political statement? Who's lining this guy's pockets? The video looks like he teamed with Guerrilla News Network again - it appears to have the same animator as the banned "White America" video.
I liked him better before he took himself seriously, back when he was dopy and singing "My Name Is", not holding brass knucks in the "40 Oz." video or singing "I'm a Soldier" on his last disc.
Here are the lyrics to his new song, "Mosh":
Lyrics :
[I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible・
It feels so good to be back..]
Scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, reenergize, and rewind
I give sight to the blind, mind sight through the mind
I ostracize my right to express when I feel it's time
It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight you take it as I'm gonna whip someone's ass
If you don't understand don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi task
And juggling both, perhaps mastered his craft slash
Entrepreneur who has held long too few more rap acts
Who has had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career typical manure moving past that
Mister kiss his ass crack, he's a class act
Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back
Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
To the people up top, on the side and the middle,
Come together, let's all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters is we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us, they can't, we're stronger now more then ever,
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go,
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push up, mush, **** Bush, until they bring our troops home come on just . . .
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors, come on
Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us,
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's trying to tell us something, maybe this is God just saying
we're responsible for this monster, this coward, that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head nodding,
How could we allow something like this, Without pumping our fist
Now this is our, final hour
Let me be the voice, and your strength, and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme, just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply it by six
Teen million people are equal of this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al Quaida through my speech
Let the President answer on high anarchy
Strap him with AK-47, let him go
Fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to think that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes
They've been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And Replaced with his own face, mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you'll know why, because I told you to fight
So come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
[Eminem speaking angrily]
And as we proceed, to mosh through this desert storm, in these closing statements, if they should argue, let us beg to differ, as we set aside our differences, and assemble our own army, to disarm this weapon of mass destruction that we call our president, for the present, and mosh for the future of our next generation, to speak and be heard, Mr. President, Mr. Senator

How is he a sellout?
When did he "sellout"?
I thought he was always a mainstream rapper. Wasnt his first single "my name is" or watever it was called.

if u had heard wat this guys underground songs were like, then u too would call him a sellout *i think* he would rap against, homos, asians and other cultural groups, and if u listen to this guys songs now, ud almost think its a different guy...keep in mind this guy is known for pulling guns on people in public etc.
Bubba Chunday 10-27-2004, 09:45 PM ok, but just because he dosnt talk about the same stuff, doeS it mean hes sold out?
Maybe hes just moved on. Matured a little. ????
Im just wondering.
Isnt he just talkin politics now, instead tired pointless attacks on gays.
It just seems his anger is pointing in another direction.

it could be that....makes sense at least
but im stilla lil unsure, theres jus been a huge rap movement, almost all rappers are talkin politics, cept of course g-unit, "fitty cent" and that cru, its money, *****es and cars for them, oh god when will THEY ever mature?

lol,
If an artist keeps doing wat theyve always done, they could be called one dimensional. But if they change thier style they are accused of selling out.
Being an underground act dosnt pay much. So i guess whoring yourself and watering down your content to appease the mass marketing corporations makes good business sense.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:24 PM Bob Marley was a musician/politican
Dr.Depravity 10-27-2004, 10:29 PM I hate it when entertainers try to be political. I mean why should anyone listen to them. Most are non-educated, never had a normal job besides high school jobs. They are so out of touch with the average citizen they might as well live on another planet. "Im just raising my family and trying to work some" You'll here this from almost every hollywood mom. Yet they have live in nannies, cooks and maids. All they do is play with their kids after school, then there off to movie premiers and parties. Not to mention multimillion dollar homes and countless cars. I dont mind people who have ****loads of money, most have earned it, its a free country to make as much money as you want. But dont try to push some candidate because its the popular thing to do. I think its rathter egocentric to think that because your popular with the kiddies that you think you can influence people to vote for your "guy".

yea, but ur forgettin the fact that bob marley was great whilst these guys arent

So who should we listen to...POLITICIANS????
At least a artist with some integrity is in the position to express themselves honestly.
Just look at the President race at the moment...are they in touch? With thier fake smiles and crowd pleasing, sound bite speeches??
Id rather listen to a rock star that screams his opinion with a healthy dose of profanity to any bull**** plastic politician.
Dr.Depravity 10-27-2004, 10:46 PM Well, my belief is at least a politician follows politics.
dodge 10-27-2004, 10:46 PM Damn,i'm proud of eminem. What an influence on young voters.
The Noose 10-27-2004, 11:17 PM Well, my belief is at least a politician follows politics.
Dont most people follow politics? Politicians are just great at selling thier soul and playing the game. Honesty takes a back seat. Its all about thier career.
I dont know, its all about trying to appear nice and clean with poiticians. Not trying to upset anyone, trying to gain votes at any price.
Iv never been inspired by a politician.
Not too many of them are saying "legalize!"
neils7147933 10-28-2004, 09:35 AM How is he a sellout?
When did he "sellout"?
I thought he was always a mainstream rapper. Wasnt his first single "my name is" or watever it was called.
He recorded an album in 1996 called "Infinite." It had few curses and his rap style and beats/background music sounded like rejected tracks from Nas's "Illmatic." Actually he was accused of ripping Nas's style.
The Slim Shady EP represented his change. A Different version of "My Name Is" along with "Just Don't Give a ****" and "Bonnie and Clyde'97" and a few others were on it. Dr. Dre signed him, bought the rights, and added a number of songs and production, including the entirely new track "Guilty Conscience" which was a duet.
Him being a sellout refers to the fact that he couldn't break out as a straight rapper, so he made his name doing goofy lyrics and saying outlandish things, infuriating some, amusing the rest. This dorky white kid was selling records. Then as soon as he goes Diamond and multi-platinum, all of a sudden, he's a Gangsta, he's a "Soldier", etc.
The guy flipping off the President and putting down Bush in "White America" does the same in this one, but makes a video that ends with a guy voting in the polls? And this is a month after he's in drag and impersonating Bad Santa and Michael Jackson. He's more schizophrenic than 2Pac, but he's also less real.
Less real=less credibility. His last album was saved only by his personal tracks. Stuff like "Superman" and "Soldier" were the anti-Eminem who brought us "My Name Is", "Role Model", "Criminal" etc.
jabsRstiff 10-28-2004, 09:42 AM I could give a **** about Eminem's political views.
First of all....he's a multi-millionaire.
Second....he sounds like Porky Pig, & is just basically a lil' wimp.
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 09:55 AM Selling out is when you go WITH the establishment. That song is as anti establishment as anything Rage Against The Machine has done. The lyrics are very good. I must say, I really don't like Eminem but this impresses me.
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 09:55 AM Jabs
I hate the ****er too.....but I gotta admit. Those lyrics are quite good.

What is nice? Are you being condescending sir? hehe
jabsRstiff 10-28-2004, 10:03 AM Of course....
Good lyrics ? F*cking dime a dozen.
Who cares what this boy has to say when he delivers what he says in such a nasally, wimpy way ?
LuKahnLi 10-28-2004, 10:06 AM Well maybe the difference is that I am reading it and not hearing it.
Lets put it this way, just as they are written it is on par with stuff I have seen on Russell Simmons' def poetry.

the entertainment industry is waking up and contributing.
It takes a measure of bravery to create and promote this kind of project and we applaud the efforts of the GNN team.
--------------
From Liberty Think....
Eminem has released a new video of the cut "Mosh," from his upcoming album Encore. The largely animated video , produced in association with Guerilla News Network, opens with Eminem reading to schoolchildren in the shadow of the World Trade Center on 9/11, not unlike Bush did in Florida.
It then cuts to Eminem standing before a wall collaged with newspaper clippings and photos featuring headlines about Bush's foreknowledge of 9/11 (including the famous BUSH KNEW New York Post headline); the civil rights abuses of the PATRIOT Act; maltreatment of soldiers; war profiteering and even the Illuminati's all-seeing eye.
Eminem then rallies a crowd of youngsters to action, crying "F*** Bush!" as black helicopters buzz over. This is intercut with a scene of a soldier coming home only to immediately receive an order sending him back to Iraq. As Eminem calls Bush "this monster, this coward we empowered," one of the infamous "bin Laden videos" plays on a television set -- only to have OBL's backdrop collapse to reveal a giggling Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld on a Hollywood set.
The lyrics slam the government's "psychological warfare" as the animated Eminem leads a crowd of youth to a voting booth. But perhaps Eminem isn't cyncial enough here, as a word about the electronic voting scam machines would be worthwhile as well. At least Eminem hasn't fallen into the trap of endorsing Bush's sworn Bones blood brother Kerry, though he came a little too close for this writer's tastes in his new Rolling Stone interview.
The last video Eminem produced in association with GNN, "White America," was banned from MTV Networks.
