joecrappy 03-14-2008, 08:22 PM This is a ****ed up fight.
I know GSP is mentally good.
But he ****in' tapped against Hughes. He was scared of an injury so he tapped. Fair enough.
He got his ass literally beat up by Serra. Not just beat over a few rounds. But ****in' starched.
And Serra is a tough styles matchup for him.
I think it's going to be a good scrap. I'm going to order this **** for sure.
I hope GSP knocks Serra the **** out. It'd be good for the sport.
Blair_Wells#32 03-14-2008, 08:28 PM it will b a great fight regardless of who wins, but i'll b pullin for serra to get the belt.
:wtf1: how is gsp knocking serra out good for the sport?
joecrappy 03-14-2008, 08:30 PM Serra's a loudmouth dude.
Look at how he acted on the reality show.
That is good for college frat boys...but for the older generation and for sponsers...no one wants a clown like him representing the sport.
Granted he is a very nice guy from what I hear, but he was very egotistical on teh show.
I'd rather a good looking Frenchy who doesn't talk bad about his opponents at the top of the heap.
That's just me though.
Dorian 03-14-2008, 08:31 PM GSp by stoppage in max 2 rounds........
Blair_Wells#32 03-14-2008, 08:57 PM when he was coaching? Serra was an awesome coach, helped his fighters develope quite well, he was loyal 2 all his fighters an bonded with pretty much all of em.
an from what i've seen he hasn't talked bad about his opponents until they bad mouthed him first.
unless u count season 4 when he was bad mouthin hughes, but hughes is a jerk who everyone bad mouths.
but then again u should hear the speach he made when i think his name was laimon? when he was badmouthing Royce Gracie...that will give ya a example of how Serra respects people who get into the cage an fight.
yeah everyones entitles 2 their opinions an :fing02:
i'ma Serra fan so i jus had 2 throw this out there lol.
2swell k-wells 03-14-2008, 10:06 PM Serra is gonna lose bro, big time, Serra Crossed the line like GSP says.
It would be nice to see the gnome get KO'd, maybe he will finally shut his hole.
Blair_Wells#32 03-14-2008, 10:09 PM your like 3 inches taller then him an your callin him a gnome?
2swell k-wells 03-14-2008, 10:11 PM correction...4 inches, im the same size as GSP standing at 5'10

100% true.
Notice on the show he never trash-talked Shonie who had beat him before. Because Shonie never trash-talked him. Hughes always insults his opponents. I remember when Hughes fought Penn the first time. Hughes put down Penn so bad saying he had no business fighting him, how he was gonna destroy Penn, how he hoped Penn did not get killed fighting him, etc.
Notice most of the guys came off that show respecting and liking Serra, and saying what a prick Hughes was.
Serra can act a bit stupid sometimes but he has acted as champion in a very classy way, that guy on the show had no business badmouthing Royce who is the real p4p King cuz he's the only one who actually beat guys at most weight classes in UFC.
I like GSP tho and he;s very focused, I'm rooting for Serra tho

your sound like my brother.
Blair_Wells#32 03-15-2008, 01:38 AM great minds think alike, haven't u heard that b4 :cool2:
joecrappy 03-15-2008, 01:40 AM ^^ you guys are both ****
TBEC2 03-15-2008, 12:04 PM Both guys are class acts, you cant question either of their characters. On a skill level i feel all in all GSP is a way better athlete who beats his opponents by using their strengths against them. Non of his opponents expect him to play their game let alone beat them at it.
No there lies the problem. We kno Serra strength is his Jujitsu. And trying to play Jits against a black belt is very dangerous. So you think GSP would like to stand up. However the guy already proved he has KO power and GSP's a distance striker with Serra being a little bit past 5ft lol the man is gonna close gaps cause thats the only way he can inflict damage. Now GSP has solid ground and pound if he beats Serra i see it being that way but im not sure how willing he would be to play a ground game with some1 whos guard is as active as Serra.
The Problem with beating Matt Serra is identifying his strengths and weaknesses. His record alone shows that he is vulnerable but he's proved hes dangerous in all facets of the game.
Sorry for the long post.
Also being a Gracie Jujitsu practitioner myself i am naturally gonna go with the Gracie Black Belt.
Im going for Serra but only if GSP fights an over cautions fight. If GSP comes out a blaze he can beat anyone.
Savino 03-15-2008, 12:34 PM I can't wait for this fight it is gonna be awesome but I think GSP will destroy Serra.
Harms 03-15-2008, 02:31 PM I was at the arena when Serra beat GSP for the belt. It was probably my greatest live sporting event moment. I like Serra. I think he is a bad matchup for GSP. The only reason I kinda want Serra to lose is so he can fight Hughes. If he wins, there is no chance of that happening.
2swell k-wells 03-15-2008, 04:49 PM ^^ you guys are both ****
**** you ******* before u get e-slapped
I def was dying to see Serra vs Hughes
Blair_Wells#32 03-15-2008, 07:16 PM yeah i wouldn't mind seeing Hughes Tap out again, then Retire.
robot_monkey 03-16-2008, 01:33 PM Serra is an egotistical person and because Hughes does not recognize him, Serra is annoyed. He thinks Hughes is a bad guy because Hughes is Machiavellian, but Serra is self promoting. His actions reveal the manifestation of this condition as he takes every opportunity to demonstrate how great he is. At least guys like Trigg make it apparent. Serra actually believes he is some sort of savior, he does not empower people, he overpowers them. He was not helping anyone when he was a coach, because that would take understanding and patience.
number6 03-16-2008, 01:44 PM How annoying was Serra on (TUFF the comeback), his voice during fights is unbearable.
2swell k-wells 03-16-2008, 11:15 PM Yeah I heard alot of BREATHE SHONIE BREATHE BREATHE! that got annoying.
Blair_Wells#32 03-17-2008, 01:20 AM Serra not helping anyone while he was coaching? what show were u watchin?
an he thinks Matt Hughes is an ******* because Hughes is one, jus look at his actions, talk 2 the majority of the fans who have met him, an hell if that don't convince ya of what an ass he is, Read his book.
oppertunity 2 show how great he is? when?.
he's been a pretty humble champ.
1bad65 03-17-2008, 10:39 AM Just ask guys who have trained with Hughes what they think of him.
While some people who met him like Serra and others don't, I've never heard anyone who met Hughes say what a good guy he is.

He fired his own man even though the guys fighting had nothing to do with his work. The guy was a kid. He will grow, right? He just wanted to make a show of himself. Hand the dude a little bit of power and he goes overboard. He goes overboard with "helping" others as well as in his treatment of Shonie Carter, which I say was merely an attempt to win his confidence and improve his chances. Serra is unconsciously devious. Helping people is about empowering them.
Hughes is a smart man. When stupid people do stupid things they will indefinitely get the proper treatment from him. Hughes is not a nice guy by any means, like I stated he is a Machiavellian.
robot_monkey 03-17-2008, 11:22 AM **** you ******* before u get e-slapped
Why don't you post your picture so we can judge if you are qualified to be one as well.
Atnan 03-17-2008, 01:09 PM the fighters are all adults- this sounds like a ****ing drama show! this is the reason why i prefer japanese fighters--
fedor is the perfect example " i like the ufc heavyweight very much...Nog, Werdum, Syvlia, etc...are all great fighters! i dont understand why they show disrespect towards me when i never once said anything bad about them! " it isnt the exact quote, but nonetheless its a great quote and a perfect showing of how a fighter should act
jackmcmanus21 03-18-2008, 11:27 AM I like Serra a lot. I don't blame him for talking smack and being mad....he's the UFC WW Champion and on most people's rankings hes behind Hughes and St. Pierre and pretty much on par with Karo and Fitch. I do think that GSP will beat him though, if Serra wins this time it will be a bigger upset than the first fight.

I don't think the fighters are speaking directly to Fedor rather, they are combating media attention.

Blair_Wells#32 03-20-2008, 08:58 PM With UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra (9-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) less than a month away from a title-unification fight with interim belt holder Georges St. Pierre (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC), "The Terror" can't wait to compete in front of a record UFC crowd in his opponent's backyard.
Serra discussed his upcoming UFC 83 main event bout while a guest on Thursday's edition of TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), a content partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
"It's exciting, man," Serra said. "To me, it's all about experiences. What kind of experience is that going to be, just having 22,000 people booing you and screaming for your head?"
While the majority of the Montreal crowd will certainly be cheering for St. Pierre, Serra believes that may actually play in to his favor.
"I mean listen, that's a lot of pressure on this other guy," Serra said. "I feel great about it. I'm feeling great with everything… I'm feeling like a million dollars."
This rematch of one of the biggest upsets in MMA history was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 79 in December. Serra was forced to withdraw from the card after injuring his back in training. During Serra's layoff, St. Pierre defeated Matt Hughes and was named the UFC's interim champion.
Serra said he was not upset at the UFC's decision to award the interim belt.
"I got hurt, and left them in a f***ing pickle," Serra said. "What am I going to do? They had to do what they had to do. And that's alright. I still have the belt."
Serra did point out, however, that he was not the only champion in this fight to have rescheduled a match-up due to injury.
"GSP did get injured before I fought him the first time, and he had to bow out like a month before I fought him the first time," Serra said.
While the fighters have been generally respectful toward each other throughout the build-up to each of their fights, tensions have started to grow recently as verbal jabs have been thrown by both combatants.
"I was always polite to the guy," Serra said of his relationship with St. Pierre. "After I won the title, I wasn't sticking my tongue out saying 'Ha, ha. I told you so.' I was giving the guy respect, saying he's the future of the sport."
Since that time, though, things have changed.
"I genuinely think the guy is a good guy," Serra said. "He's surrounded by a bunch of guys hanging on to his coat tails, and they're looking at him like a meal ticket… So five weeks after the fight, I heard him… giving all these excuses, saying 'If it was Matt Hughes I wouldn't have taken the fight. I wasn't training properly for Matt Serra. I figured I'd beat him easy.' I'm like, dude, how do you not take offense to that?"
Serra responded to St. Pierre with comments of his own.
"My point to him was that before the fight you're saying all this, '(Serra's) the most dangerous guy. (I've) got to be the challenger, and go out there and try to get the belt from (him)," Serra said. "Then afterwards? You're lying either way -- either before or after. Not to mention it's blatantly disrespectful.
"So, of course, for me, I'm not going to be like, 'Oh, that's ok.' So I went off. I called him Frenchie, and I told him to drink some red wine and watch a hockey game. And, he got upset about it. He's like, 'Oh, he called me Frenchie. He went over the line.' Relax. Pepé Le Pew is my favorite Looney Toon. Calm down."
