i started out about 1 and a half months ago, go about 1 a week, sometimes 2 times if i get some free time, im still learing basics at the moment so no point going all the time as i rearly get 1 on 1 training other than the 1 day i go

i balance out 3 days a week in the boxing gym and the other 3 i work on my muscle endurance and conditioning and spar 2-3 days a week. I try to usually skip a week of sparring every end of a month or two to give my body and brain some time to recover. Is this a smart idea and will it help me out in the long run to be cautious as to i dont want brain damage? what other ways is there to avoid any brain injuries or any other injuries do you guys use?

i'd be careful sparring to the point where you think you could get serious brain damage

be always care full, don't go full on and expect that from the other guy as well. i had a few encounters where the other guy really tried to brake my face but the coach quickly took him out of the ring and warned him not to do that any more of start looking for a new gym.

but you could go and just hit the heavy bag, jump some rope and watch the guys spar for an additional 2 times a week, if i were you i would do that

Two times a week!
Running three times a week
Heavy bag 3 times a week
Shadow boxing everyday(just loose and all comfort!)
Jump rope 2 times a week.
The rest is strength training and food water and rest, no supplements, no creatine(you get heavier, but thats all water!)
Just good food & rest!
And a lot of dirty hard sex!

i know some guys too who became personal trainers just so they could use the gym. I am in a boxing gym now that is in a hotel, so we have free access to the weights + the pool + the sauna, free locker and towel. It also has weekly kick box classes that are included in the price. It just a great deal! Maybe a little more expensive but oh so worth it

i train 5 times a week.

I run monday , wednesday, friday and sunday mornings.

Out of my 5 days a week - we do skills work monday and friday (so focus is on technique drills, footwork drills...etc...not focussing on fitness.).

Tues, Wed, Thurs- fitness, so hit the bags, pads, skip etc

Friday - another skills session - however quite light.

Spar everyday.

Do strength training through weights on Mon, Wed and Fri at the end of the session too.

what other ways is there to avoid any brain injuries or any other injuries do you guys use?

If you're worried about getting brain injuries in sparring you should really ask your trainer what the deal is. If you feel yourself getting hit in the head a lot if your new especially, tell your trainer ot work on your defense/ ask to do different types of sparring. If your sparring all the time you should not be going home with headaches/ feeling hurt in the ring. Maybe once in a while, but if its consistent, you have a problem.

i had that problem when i started; getting knocked out to often, it is not good for the health and also for motivation. I was getting scared to enter the ring. I had to change my technic and work on defense but also offense, when your opponent smells you are holding back (scared) he will even more want to show who is boss, for a start suggest to at least act strong and confident.
