View Full Version : Cardiff Not Allowed In Europe

The wonders at FA headquarters never cease.

It seems the geniuses who govern the English game are saying that Cardiff will not be allowed to represent England in Europe if they win the FA Cup. Furthermore, if they ever win promotion to the Premiership and finish in a league position which entitles them to a place in Europe they will not be put forward. Are these cunts retarded? What is the point in Cardiff City playing in the English leagues if these rules apply?

It seems to me the logical thing to do would be to allow Cardiff the same rights as every other English club or else not allow them to compete in the league at all but that kind of thinking seems beyond any of the multi-millionaire bigwigs at Soho Square.

i read something on teletext about Blatter saying that they'd sort it out for them so that they could play or something

I feel no sympathy for them, they knew what the consequences were ever since they joined english domestic competitions.

They have represented England in europe before, and even went as far as to seal a famous 1-0 victory over Real Madrid. This is a ****ing disgrace if you ask me, but I would say that, I live there :puppy_dog

Court case beckons if Cardiff are stopped from playing.
The FA can't run a school football match.
West Ham should have had points docked last season but with the likes of Trevor Brooking and Geoff Hurst working for the FA this was never going to happen, every other league in England has the rule were if you field an illegal player points are docked even the Sunday morning teams have to abide by the rules, If it was Sheff Utd who had done it would it have been different? you bet, but West Ham have friends in high places, the FA said West Ham had owed the player not a third party, how is it Liverpool have paid £18.6 mill to a third party for a player, the FA stinks, Good Luck to CARDIFF I hope they win the cup.

Good. Those singing coal miners don't deserve to play in Europe.

The coal mines are all closed now, and the Welsh do an awful lot more than just mine coal and sing anyway. If they win the FA Cup, they deserve to play in Europe, in much the same way as Chelsea would play in europe if they had won. By winning the cup you have earned your right to play in europe.

It's no longer a problem anymore though, UEFA have said if Cardiff are prevented from playing, they will step in and override the decision. If you ask me, first big decision UEFA have got right in a long time.

I think they should bring back the cup winners cup, for all teams who win the domestic cups across Europe.

Doesn't matter, I would just love to go to a european cup game at Ninian Park. The atmosphere is good when it's half full of pissheads on a cold and wet sunday afternoon, but if it was full of genuine fans at a european cup game in midweek, the atmosphere will be like nothing on earth.

FIFA president Slack Bladder says he would block any attempt by Rangers and Celtic from joining English football, so how come Wrexham and Cardiff can do it.

AGAIN I might add... As a Foreinger living in the UK... Is it not the Scotts and Welsh.. who Feel the need to consider themselves Seperate Nations??
(Except of course when it comes to English Taxes paying for things)...
Well being seperate means being seperate.. You just cant Pick choose what parts of a Unified Nation you will take.. and those you will not..

If You are Not England.. Then you can't expect to be only when it suits you..

True and if they did would they have to start in the conference, They have only considered it for financial reasons.
Berwick and English town has it’s football team playing in Scotland, soon to be ****ed Gretna played in the northern league before switching back to Scottish football.
I hope Cardiff win the cup and play in Europe but should they be playing in English football.

Why is that?

The only thing they are going to gain from it is facing tougher opposition but their chances of entering the Champions League would be slim, very slim.

They would increase their finance and fanbase the latter of which is already bigger than all but the top four clubs and is roughly the same as two of those clubs. There is no reason to think Rangers or Celtic couldn't finish in the top four or eventually win the Premiership.

Wrexham, Cardiff and Swansea (maybe others but I'm not sure) were all set up before wales had its own FA, and as such didn't have a league to join, so they played in the english league instead. Besides, somebody tell me where it says that it is an English league anyway?

It was Cardiff City, Swansea Town (Now Swansea City), Wrexham, Newport County, Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare FC who where all in the English FA before Wales got thier own FA. Aberdare eventually folded after being relagated out of the top divisions and are now in the Welsh FAW league. Both Newport and Merthyr are just outside the conferance.

The welsh sides were invited to join the English league by the English FA as at the time there was no welsh league.

For me the solution is to allow the welsh sides back into the welsh cup and give Wales's european spots to the winners and runners up of that instead of the welsh league.

Back into the welsh cup? The "english league" teams have been in it from the start and never left......

The way I see it is this:

No matter what country you are from, if you are good enough to qualify then you play, end of.
