Well i just bought myself a pretty decent laptop, so i was wondering what games are worth buying? I've played battlefield 2 and liked that one so are there more that you would recommend? I like most genre, so tell me your favourite games.

Counter Strike source. If you can find it, get the one that includes Half-Life 2 Death Match and Day of Defeat Source. 30 or so bucks for 3 games you play online for free, can't beat that. Not a new game but the graphics are great and so is the game play.

I don't know your laptop in particular but in general laptops usually arent' very good for gaming. Most laptops can only play games from like 2005 and before, unless you spent ungodly amounts of money from Alienware (or something similar) then this is probably true for you...Thats not to say you can't play any games on it, because you can...

If you post your Laptop specs (or if you bought it from a retailer a link to what you bought) I can recommend you some games

As USA4LIFE said Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1 + 2...These are all great games and, contrary to what I just said, are great looking games (visually and gameplay wise) and should run very well on almost any computer...

Honestly I suggest just getting the Orange Box, 5 games for the price of one. For about 50 bucks you get Half Life 2, Half life 2 Episode 1+2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. All Awesome games.
Link to the Orange box (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8521192&st=The+Orange+Box&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1186007266755)

Post some specs and maybe some interests and I can make further recommendations :)

The Half Life 2 series can be called the pinnacle of PC gaming because even 4 years later it's still one of the best games (and series) in Gaming.
Portal is an awesome puzzle game, short but very fun.
And Team Fortress 2 is a really fun Multiplayer experience.

CPU: Inter Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR2 667MHz
HDD: 200GB
Screen: 15.4"
Graphics: Nvidia 9500mGS 512MB Dedicated

From what i've found it seems pretty good

Edit: Never played the half life series but heard it is pretty good, i like the 1st person shooters a lot, also games like command and conquer. But the problem is my internet isn't the greatest speed so i don't know how well online games would play. So mainly 1 player games would be good thanks.

Cheers all for your help

I have to say as far as laptops go thats rather decent. When it comes to laptops people forget to get enough RAM and a Dedicated Graphics card so you are ahead of the game. You like FPS (First Person Shooters) and RTS (Real Time Strategy [ex: C & C])
I don't know alot about the 9500GS but considering its a dedicated card with 512mb VRAM you should be able to play most current games decently (may have to turn down a few settings here and there too get better performance). From what I could find the 9500GS is about equivalent to 8600GT so like I said you should be able to play most current games on probably about Medium settings..

As Far as FPS goes you got:

BioShock
The Orange Box (all the games I said in the above post)
Call of Duty 4
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas (heard mixed reviews about how it was on PC, word of caution)
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (comes out later this month)
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl (FPS/RPG)
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Is only an FPS on PC)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Is only an FPS on PC)
Crysis (be careful when thinking about this one, its a game the most high end pc's have trouble running so you may have to crank everything down to low to play it well)

RTS:
World In Conflict (heard was good)
Company of Heroes
Sins of a Solar Empire
Tom Clancy's End War (comes out later this year, like August or so)

And for some extras
RPG:
Oblivion
The Witcher
Mass Effect (comes out in May, was awesome on 360)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (about 5 years old, but I heard it was good)

Third Person:
Hitman Series
Gears of War
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (can't vouch for how they are on PC but they were really good on console)

thats all I got right now, there's more but can't think of any others off the top of my head

Thanks for the list mate, i liked the tom clancy series ages ago but haven't played it in a while so hopefully that is good. Can't wait for battlefield though.

Also got that PC for $1800 AUS, with a free printer as well so was pretty damn happy with the deal i got.

thats pretty good for a laptop with those specs...
1800 AUS is about approx. 1650 USD...and thats decent for a laptop

As far as the newer Tom Clancy games, I can't speak for PC but I've played all (GRAW 2, Splinter Cell: DA, and Rainbow Six: Vegas) on 360 and all were awesome.

And I haven't personally played Battlefield but it looks really good, and when/if I build my gaming PC later this year (in or around May) I plan to buy the battlefield games (as well as most of the games listed above)...

Just got Battlefield 2 yesterday, great game and plays well haven't had any lag whatso ever. So things are looking good, i saw they had a warcraft battlechest for $24 for like the warcraft 3 and it's two add-ons. Anyone had any experience with that? As i can't really afford the $70 games right now.

Yeah thats a good game.

Not sure if Mass Effect is out for the PC yet but it was excellent, cheered me up after my 360 died and I lost like 80 hours worth of Oblivion saves :lol1:

You should try some of the RPG's I listed...

I heard The Witcher was good and Mass Effect was one of my favorite games on 360 though after playing it for like a month straight it got alittle stale lol..
